hey, anybody want to start their slimming world journey with me today?

@Winterfellismyhome it was pouring here and the local sandwich shop with a salad bar turns out to be closed still, so had a Dolmio pasta vita (1.5 syns) and a Chicken and Mushroom Mugshot (1 syn) that were languishing in my drawer at work.

Asda shop coming tomorrow night. OH is putting jacket potatoes on for dinner and will scavenge the bottom of the fridge for random salad bits to go with.

Think I have some speed soup in the freezer for tomorrow or might make cauliflower or swede soup with the leftover Xmas veg tonight, if I can keep my eyes open long enough. First day back at work in 2 weeks to hard!!!!

FerreroRocherAreAmazing · 02/01/2018 14:41

For lunch I had a mugshot -chicken and sweetcorn ( believe it now has syns?) and some homemade carrot and coriander soup. What's everyone's favourite meals?

RavenLG · 02/01/2018 14:50

Beyond Oh my goodness, I do hope you're ok and recovering well? I'm not a group person either (massive social anxiety), and I've only ever done SW from home, but from what I've learned from others is it's a very welcoming place. Or if you really do hate it you can get weighed and dash lol!

Winterfell I had Porridge and a coffee for Breakfast, coffee about 11am, Homemade Soup for Lunch and having Grilled Chicken with a Spanish tomato / butterbean stew mixture type thing tonight and roasted carrorts. I'm feeling the urge to snack so need another coffee to fill me up as the only thing to had at my desk are mouldy grapes (didn't get the chance to throw them out before I went on the sick before Christmas, and none of my awful oblivious colleagues thought to throw them away so I'm leaving them as a protest or some sort of science experiment who knows) or a chocolate rice cake bar that is lurking in my draw!

wendywhite · 02/01/2018 15:01

I lost 13.5 lb just before Christmas.
Today is first weigh in back after 3 weeks of piggery.
After the trauma of nothing fitted for New Year’s Eve & seeing myself naked in the mirror yesterday ..
I’m ready !!

My scales say 7lb gain (mostly cider....) so that means I have about a stone & a half to lose.

To be confirmed after official weigh in!

Slimming world is great, if you can be faffed cooking fresh & being prepared. So the next few days being at home will be a challenge!

Hello to you all & good luck !

wendywhite · 02/01/2018 15:03

twochubbycubs.com is another good recipe site!!

Most meals can be made syn free with small changes.

I found the first few weeks expensive but starting to build up a decent store cupboard now.

The slow cooker is my friend !

Theycallmepheobe · 02/01/2018 17:57

I joined last night. I'm an introvert too but the group seemed ok. I lost 26.5 pounds last year just following the plan at home, but then went on holiday in August and came off plan and never got back on! Got weighed last night and I'd put 17.5 pounds back on.

I want to lose 6 and a half stone (gulp). Hoping that group will motivate me, particularly as I want to lose a couple of stone before I go to Disneyworld in 12 weeks.

BeyondThePage · 02/01/2018 18:07

Thank you Raven...

Sounds like quite a few positive experiences from people, so, hope the voucher comes through soon - though I imagine it will be busy with new members right after New Year!

ClaudiaD13 · 02/01/2018 18:17

I started SW in November, I've lost 21lb so far... my group is on Wednesday. Bit nervous to go tomorrow after Christmas! I was very sceptical about SW at first but it's been fantastic.

emmaluvseeyore · 02/01/2018 18:45

I’m getting back onto it tomorrow (been in London for a mini break yesterday and today so it was my last pig out!). I started SW online back in 2015 and lost 5 stones and went from a size 24/26 to a 18/20. I reckon I’ve put on about a stone recently judging on my clothes feeling a bit tight. But I’m getting married in 2019 so I need to get some more weight shifted. My final goal is to be around a size 14 but my short term goal is to get back to where I’d got to previously.

I’ve found a few good websites over the years so I’d be happy to share them when I’m back from London!

Winterfellismyhome · 02/01/2018 19:25

@trinitybleu did our full shop today and the fridge is packed! Never bought so many vegetables

@RavenLG ooh i love soup. Need to get a blender!

trinitybleu · 02/01/2018 21:12

Was strong - popped to Asda to collect a clothes order, ate cold chicken thighs in the car on the way home tried not to beat OH to a pulp when I got home to find no jacket potatoes in the oven as arranged, despite 4 calls discussing potential toppings whilst in Asda!!!

Made swede, carrot and parsnip soup whilst waiting for the potatoes

QueenofLouisiana · 02/01/2018 21:19

Was very bad at the online attempt last year- went to my first group session today. I’m on it.

I need to lose a stone in 6 weeks...

Thegrandoldelf · 02/01/2018 22:00

I've restarted today. I originally joined this time last year at a starting weight of 13st 2, lost a stone got bored and am now back to 12st 12. Really need to lose 2 stone. Today went pretty well until I had cake this evening... On the plus side I didn't really enjoy it and feel bleurgh for eating it so hopefully from here onwards I'll be more focused. I've done a meal plan for the rest of the week, just need to stick to it.

caremummy · 02/01/2018 22:09

I've been phasing back in. Over probably on syns but getting there. back in to my lunch clique of Buddha bowls. trying to change my mindset and have decided that when I get back to my normal group (term time) I will blind weigh for at least 6 weeks, as I think this will help with my MH.
I have 33lbs to lose and until August to do it, but I need to fix my binge eating problems and increase my fitness as well.
Today's lunch was a 4 syn Buddha bowl with chickpeas, avocado, orzo pasta , spinach and rocket, really good and I couldn't finish because I was full haha

caremummy · 02/01/2018 22:10

hoping blind weigh will focus me more on the plan and less on the scales also

RavenLG · 03/01/2018 06:53

@caremummy oh that avacado orzo dish sounds lush, I’m on a right chickpea binge atm. Do you have a recipe?

Today is a new day folks. I stuck to my food but had a little binge on mint matchsticks but kept in syns. Will try not to succumb to the goodies today. At least I can’t pick my way through the pantry while I’m at work Grin

caremummy · 03/01/2018 10:24

Was a bit of a mish mash : boiled orzo pasta, mashed up avocado with garlic and mild chilli and lemon juice (couldn't find blender 😂) bunged them together then just threw in a bowl with spinach, rocket and chickpeas 🌸 Simple but nice x

RavenLG · 04/01/2018 10:30

@caremummy .. smashing! sounds divine! Thanks!

How is everyone doing today?

SunShineandSmiles · 04/01/2018 11:03

Hi can I join as well please I've been for my first weigh in this morning I nearly died when I got on the scales I weigh a stone more than I did this time last year Blush and have 6st 2lb to lose to be at my target weight Shock

I have a baby shower coming up in 10 weeks so my mini target is to be as close to a stone lighter by then as possible.

Healthy choices and movement here I come Grin

SunShineandSmiles · 04/01/2018 11:57

Can someone help please.... I can't find sweetcorn anywhere in the book am I just being blind?

I've tried looking all through the free foods and the syns but no mention of it I wanted to add it to tonight's tea has anyone got any ideas please?

Groovee · 04/01/2018 12:17

It's a vegetable but not a speed veg. But you can eat it freely x

Jayne0304 · 04/01/2018 12:18

Sunshine - sweetcorn is free - its under starchy vegeatables

Fluffyblanket17 · 04/01/2018 12:23

Can I join? I need some serious motivation. I’m so disappointed with myself, I’ve joined slimming world a million times, last time being for my wedding in June and since then I’ve put it all back on and more, I’m now the biggest I’ve ever been. Starting back next week

Lumon · 04/01/2018 12:25

Hi All,

Sorry I've been a bit quiet the last few days, I've been back at work and catching up with all of my horrendous emails.

So far so good, I haven't had any temptations or been naughty. I've managed to stick to plan and also started back at the gym! I find being back at work and trying not to snack when there's so much cake and goodies others have bought in (work in an open plan office) is quite difficult, but I haven't caved.

Been munching on mini cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and celery sticks as snacks. Also, the little bags of Sunbites wholegrain popcorn are an absolute dreams and barely any syns (think it's 2.5?). Tuna pasta salad for lunch with lots of veggies thrown in and I'm doing SW beef curry tonight for dinner.

However, I'm going to a wedding this weekend which is three hours away from home which means = long road trip, which means = pit stops which = junk food. I don't want to cave this weekend, but I know at the wedding lots of wine and food will be involved. Not sure how to get around this one?!

Love the fact we have lots of people on this thread, lovely to see everyone is really on it to lose this weight!

Groovee · 04/01/2018 12:33

Lumon I'm at a wedding on Saturday and my dress doesn't fit 🤦🏻‍♀️

I plan to fill up on a speedy breakfast and if I can fit some fruit bags in my bag as it's going to be a long day. Then just cope as best I can.
