FaithEverPresent, I've had a surprisingly easy time with my IBS since I started. This is my first flare up so I actually have no clue how it's going to affect my weigh in. I'd definitely lost upwards of 2.5lb at my sneaky weigh in yesterday morning but I know I can't rely on that number now I'm having a flare up, however mild.

I was having further investigations for a time but docs have settled on IBS and (now resolved) stomach ulcers. Having a much easier time of it now my stomach is healed, thank god!

Pipsqueak11 · 08/11/2017 06:50

Hello
Can anyone offer me any advice? . I joined SW 2 weeks ago - first week lost 5lbs - yippee!! Inspired by this I did pretty much exactly the same for week 2 but put on 2lbs-argh!!!! I am post menopause so don't think it's related to time of month . I don't expect to lose 5lb every week but don't understand why I have gained ? What am I doing wrong?

Tweetypie30 · 08/11/2017 07:05

Thanks Groove. I love the fact that you couldn't get a takeaway because you couldn't find parking. It's like your slimming world fairy was looking out for you.

I'm two days in back on plan. I've gained officially at weigh in yesterday but I'm 2.5lbs down from Monday so I'm feeling pretty positive.

Meal plan today is:
B - Eggs x 2, brown toast x 2, 7 syns
L - Veggie chilli and couscous
D - Vegetable pasta and salad

PositiveAttitude · 08/11/2017 07:19

Amused you have my sympathy. Although I have not been diagnosed with BED I think that is purely because I have never admitted to anyone else that I actually do it and struggle so much with it. I have now been doing SW for 18 months and I have had a few episodes of serious bingeing over htat time. The difference I find with SW rather than every other "diet" that I have tried in the past is that I find it easier to wake up the day after a binge and be straight back on plan, whereas in the past I would continue the binge for days on end and give up any idea that I could possibly lose weight anyway.

Welcome Pipsqueak. Sorry your 2nd week did not go as well as you had hoped. Did you continue to weigh out your Healthy Extra A & B's? Did you drink as much water? Sometimes there is no reasoning with our bodies and you just have to trust the plan, keep going and you will lose again next week. Keep going. Flowers

A totally undeserved 1lb gain for me last night after a week on plan 100% and a couple of SP days, which really annoyed me and sent me straight for the biggest piece of chocolate cake you ever did see!! Blush This morning AF has arrived, so that explains my gain and also my desire for chocolate cake! I am going to be writing everything down again this week to keep myself accountable.

Pipsqueak11 · 08/11/2017 07:40

Thanks positive. I don't weigh it as I just use skimmed milk for coffee as A and an alpen bar as B . I might be over a bit on the milk but generally only between 5-10 syns a day. Lunch generally couscous and roasted veg . Dinner usually out of the comfort meals recipe book . I've probably eaten too much fruit or something as my snacks .

Groovee · 08/11/2017 07:52

Sorry to hear that @Pipsqueak11. Are you having the same Healthy extra B daily? I find if I have too many cereal bars that I don’t have a good loss. I try to have something different Daily.

Yes thanks Groove - the class leader said it was best to have variety . I'll give it another go. Mustn't give up so soon!!!

amusedbush · 08/11/2017 09:04

PositiveAttitude

Yes, I feel exactly the same way. For example, with Weight Watchers in the past I'd blow through all of my weekly bonuses and exercise points in one binge and then feel like I was clawing it back, so what's the point anyway? And I'd tailspin for weeks.

With SW I just get back up, eat plenty of free and speed food and keep going. The scales are up again thanks to my antics but they'll go back down.

I'm just telling myself that it doesn't matter about the week-on-week weigh ins so long as the overall trend is down at the end of the month.

thisgirlrides · 08/11/2017 13:06

@PositiveAttitude you've lost 3lbs son don't get disheartened. Sometimes I know why I've gained - time of month, not stuck but to plan etc but other times it's bloody annoying as you've done well and expect a loss. Keep at it and next week is bolton no to reap the reward. Lots of water, a bit of variety in your diet, snack on veg as well as fruit (usually far less sugar) but also consider slightly more substantial syn free snacks such as soup, SW hummus even a small portion of last night's dinner can sometime be better than constant grazing on fruit.

Lubilu28 · 08/11/2017 13:59

So My son has come down with a bug! Been up with him for the past 2 nights and I’m absolutely shattered!! Only the problem is I’m starting to feel not my usual self! My appetite is nearly non-existent and I’m only really fancying comfort food!! Having sw chips with chopped bacon, cheese (HEA) and a fried egg on top!! I just really can’t bare a salad right now 🤢 xxx

Scribblegirl · 08/11/2017 17:43

Oh that's rubbish lubilu, fingers crossed you're feeling batter soon/don't come down with the same thing!

Great week for me - 2.5lb down bringing me to a total of 8.5lb so far and my half stone sticker. Also found out that I was slimmer of the week last week so got my certicate! I go to group in central London near work and it's a drop in so I only got told today. Drop in group is super convenient as I only need to dash in for a few minutes on my lunch hour but I do wonder whether I'd feel a bit more engaged with a proper group and the community/support it brings.

Either way I feel super engaged today - this WOE is making me feel very positive and optimistic that I can actually lose weight for once in my life!

Tweetypie30 · 09/11/2017 06:46

Well done Scribble girl. It's great when you're in the zone. Long may it continue.

I've got three days 100% back on plan under my belt now. Lets hope today is the fourth!

Good luck today everyone.

Groovee · 09/11/2017 09:10

Oh no @Lubilu28. Hope you feel better.

Just chilling today. At the cinema tonight.

I'm still on plan and the urge to binge is ebbing away with every good day that passes. I get stuck in the bingeing rut so easily but once I haul myself out of it, I can pootle along for weeks.

Groovee · 09/11/2017 15:13

Well done @amusedbush x

Great news amused. I struggle with bingeing as well. It's so hard to draw a line under it and stop. Lately I've been finding that if I've had a bad day, the next day I try and binge/fill up and free food like pasta and potatoes. Still with my speed foods but massive portions for lunch and dinner. Almost double portions Blushbut it helps to stop myself from bingeing on bread/chocolate/pizza....
So far it's helping and I've having less bad weeks and more bad days iykwim Smile

Scribblegirl · 09/11/2017 17:42

Thanks tweety. Sorry if I sound a bit annoying; I think everyone IRL is getting a bit sick of my preaching about how amazing SW is so I'm trying to confine it to here Blush

Really pleased to hear you and amused are tackling the binging urges. I've been trying to work out if there's a trigger for me when I'm more likely to crack but aside from alcohol (which I already knew weakens my resolve quicker than you can say Macdonads) I'm struggling to suss mine out.

Today has been ok but I've got a busy weekend coming up and I know that if I don't put in the good work now I won't be able to enjoy myself on Sat/Sun Smile

ShapelyBingoWing · 09/11/2017 23:58

So, this year I've lost 2stone. 13.5lb of that on SW. And I've not yet gone down a dress size. Still an 18. And what do I go and do? Order 3x size 16 dresses that I'm expecting to be able to get in before my Christmas do in 5 weeks. This side of placing that order it seems really stupid to count on being able to do in the next 5 weeks what I haven't managed in the last year Sad

Jennywallpaper · 10/11/2017 09:13

I lost 1& 3/4 lbs this week! Happy with that as I was rubbish over the weekend so I think doing 3 SP days helped pull it back. I'm going to try and do a few sp days a week now in the lead up to Christmas, I'm now the lowest weight I've been in years so I'm feeling pretty good!! 😊 Good luck to anyone else weighing today

UnwiseOldElf · 10/11/2017 10:38

Pipsqueak I keep getting random gains, despite doing the programme 100%. I can do exactly the same two weeks in a row and one week have a huge (4lb) loss and the next week gain 2lb. I've stopped trying to work out why, as long as the overall trend is downwards. It's frustrating but don't let it stop you - SW really does work!

UnwiseOldElf · 10/11/2017 10:43

Shapely my four penn'orth (from losing LOADS of weight a few years ago ... gained it all back but that's another story!) is that it takes a lot more weight loss to go down a size when you're at the bigger sizes. Kind-of makes sense, because the weight is distributed all over a bigger you, if you see what I mean. So to go between size 22 and 20 might take a couple of stone, whereas between a size 12 and a size 10 might only be 7lb. (Obviously also depending on height too.)

What I mean is try not to be too discouraged. You have lost 2st this year, which is brilliant. Maybe it's not the amount you had hoped for, and maybe you're not down to the size you hoped for (yet) but you will get there...

and also sizes vary so much between shops too. How do you feel in yourself? Regardless of the label size?

Tweetypie30 · 10/11/2017 16:40

You're not annoying at all Scribble girl. I hope my post didn't make you think that, it was a genuine well done, you're in the zone, doing well and that's really encouraging to read. We're all here to discuss all things sw so chat away 😊. I feel sorry for my poor husband, he must get so bored of hearing me bang on about sw. I don't go to group and none of my friends know I'm doing it so this is the only place I can chat.

I had a bit of a slip up last night but it wasn't as bad as it could have been and I'm back on it today.

Groovee · 11/11/2017 17:38

so Happy I’ve got my club 10!! So glad I stopped the urge to visit McDonald’s on a few occasions, while feeling like absolute crap!! So worth it!

It’s true what the lady said at my group “nothing tastes better how skinny feels!”

Had my first NSV I’ve finaly gone down a size in my jeans, it’s only taken 23lbs but finally there 😍😍 half way till target! I can do this!! Xx

Trills · 11/11/2017 18:19

I've been away with work all week and had to concentrate on making sure I get some food at the right time, without being able to think about whether it's "the right food".

Back now, have been to the shops, and making a chilli.

That steak with mushroom sauce looks great - what's the sauce made of?
