Starting Slimming World today

Hi,
I hope it's okay to start a new thread here. I have followed Slimming World in the past, but in the past year have put on 2 stone, so I'm going to start again and try to lose the 2 stone and maybe even get to my ideal weight by losing another 7 lbs. That would put me at 10 stone and I'm 5 foot 7 - if I weigh less than 10 stone I look gaunt in the face.

I've got the books from last time and I don't like attending the meetings, I'll see how I get on, might join online if I think I need to.

Today I've had 2 slices of rye bread with a little butter and cheddar for breakfast (as my healthy A and B), a baked potato with a little grated cheddar and butter for lunch and dinner will be one sausage with a pile of mashed swede and some brussel sprouts. I had a snack this afternoon of an orange Club biscuit and 8 grapes. I might also have a ryvita - I need to get to grips with counting syns, as I can't remember how many syns things have so will have to look them up.

I'm going to try not to eat after 7 p.m (we have our evening meal when dh gets in at 6.30).

I've also done 15 minutes of exercise dvd (breaking myself in gently!) and walked the dog for half an hour.

Yesterday I had poached eggs on toast with baked beans for breakfast, a baked potato with cheese for lunch and for dinner 2 thin chipolata sausages (97% pork) with new potatoes, broccoli and green beans and pickled beetroot. Snacks were a 1% Mugshot and a minimilk ice lolly.

2lb off Christ knows how though it's the weight I gained last week so still the same as 2 weeks ago 'sighs'

They're not lost, if you glance this way i think i've found them.

2lb is fab especially in post Easter aftermath.

I'm just eating a tiny bit much this week. Just giving in a little bit too much to temptations that are everywhere with the kids at home. I didn't weigh in, childcare mess up that ment i was without kids Thursday afternoon rather than morning. Never mind. Theres always next week.

I did try slimming world meat balls for the first time. I had them with cajun actifry chips topped with grated cheese. It was lovely.

I started slimming world in the first week of Jan and am 1st 6 down so far. In the last couple of weeks my loss has really slowed - where I was losing 2-3lb a week it's now been .5lb twice. I'm thinking about reducing my syns from 15 to 10, what do you think?

Well done on all your hard work, some fab losses and ideas on here!

1 st 6 since Jan is agreat loss. Whats that latest buzz phrase, Summer bodies are made in winter. Looking on the NHS BMI calculator for each stone you lose you require approx 70 cals less per day (3.5 syns). So reducing your syns by 5 should sort out the return to better losses. I like my syns though.

Alternatively have a bit of a think about portion sizes. Mine are now about 50% of what they were.

I checked the packet for what a portion is, so for pasta rather than just pouring in a pack for the five of us i worked out we should be having half a pack. For a while I still cooked the whole pack but plated myself closer to 1/6 rather than the 1/4 i would previously have had. With no guilt associated with free food pasta meals i could then go to the pot and get seconds if I felt i needed it. 9 times out of 10 I didn't, with the exception of time of the month when my appetite is far bigger. Now I cook about 3/4 pack we still eat bigger than standard portions. Same with rice.

With meat rather than a big chicken breast each, i slice the meat and place it to help yoursef on the table. I'm far more likely to have 1/2 or 2/3 breast rather than more than a breast this way. I try hard not to feel any guilt for seconds. But its been a reeducation to work out what portion sizes satisfy my appetite.
