Starting Slimming World today

Hi,
I hope it's okay to start a new thread here. I have followed Slimming World in the past, but in the past year have put on 2 stone, so I'm going to start again and try to lose the 2 stone and maybe even get to my ideal weight by losing another 7 lbs. That would put me at 10 stone and I'm 5 foot 7 - if I weigh less than 10 stone I look gaunt in the face.

I've got the books from last time and I don't like attending the meetings, I'll see how I get on, might join online if I think I need to.

Today I've had 2 slices of rye bread with a little butter and cheddar for breakfast (as my healthy A and B), a baked potato with a little grated cheddar and butter for lunch and dinner will be one sausage with a pile of mashed swede and some brussel sprouts. I had a snack this afternoon of an orange Club biscuit and 8 grapes. I might also have a ryvita - I need to get to grips with counting syns, as I can't remember how many syns things have so will have to look them up.

I'm going to try not to eat after 7 p.m (we have our evening meal when dh gets in at 6.30).

I've also done 15 minutes of exercise dvd (breaking myself in gently!) and walked the dog for half an hour.

Hi just delurking to say to Assumptaan that the salad is in the online syns directory and comes out as 7.5 syns, presumably that's with the dressing. Have you got the app as I just looked it up on there?

WinkSmile

Assumptaann · 09/04/2015 19:46

I thought I had the app, but obviously I am doing something wrong! I will have another go. Did you just type it in on the online syns? I had thought may be 5 without the dressing, do you think that is fair? Thank you so much.

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 09/04/2015 20:20

Have you got the slimming world lifeline online app? If you have click on menu and there's a tab for syns online, open that, select to search for syns online and I literally just typed the name of your salad in. If you don't have that app that's the one you want! And yes I think that 5 is a good estimation Smile

Assumptaann · 09/04/2015 20:21

Is it in 'syns on line' ?

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 09/04/2015 20:25

Yes that's the one

Assumptaann · 09/04/2015 20:50

I can't find it. Can you tell me how you found it please, as in what section, and what you typed in? Thank you

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 09/04/2015 20:55

Do you have the right app?

It's in the the lifeline online app. Open the app and on the top right hand side is the menu box, open that and the 6th section down says syns online. Click on that, that opens another page which has a big red box in the middle that says search syns online. Click on that and enter the food you want to search for

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 09/04/2015 20:56

And I literally just typed in marks and spencer prawn salmon and couscous salad

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 09/04/2015 21:14

Link fail sorry, have you found it yet?

Assumptaann · 09/04/2015 21:16

Got it! Thank you. I was doing it wrong somehow and not going into the right section.

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 09/04/2015 21:20

Oh brilliant well done!

2fat4that · 10/04/2015 14:17

This week has been rubbish for me - mainly due to the large amount of birthday cake that was left. However, it's now finally finished and I need to get back on track, as I've gained again the few lbs I'd lost Sad

How is everyone else doing? Can someone kick me up the bum please? I need to do this, so that I will have some summer clothes to wear!

Jelly weight. Probably not a medical term but its the weight you gain quickly when you over indulge. If you get back on plan quickly it wont set and falls off far faster than the 'set' weight you've been battling to lose. The longer it hangs around the harder it is to lose.

Don't be to tough on yourself. Whats done is done. Guilt will only lead you to deprive and then comfort eat.

So whats the meal plan for the next few days? Last hot day today, weathers going cooler tomorrow so barbeques here will be replaced by vats of soup. Sundays I do a big roast with three veg and lots of slimming world roasts. I might do a tray of herb and garlic roasted root veg to bulk the healthy side even further.

I've become a hoola hoop puff fan for some of my Syns. I tend to get in syn ruts, having the same thing over and over so it feels like routine rather than a treat. What are other people enjoying for syns?

2fat4that · 10/04/2015 14:46

Thanks MisForMum - I am mad at myself though Blush Angry

I haven't decided what we're eating today - I think I have mince in the fridge,so may make chilli or something similar.

Isn't Monday your nominated weigh in day?

If so just bloomin weigh. It might be better than you expect, it might not. Either way you need to chart progress once a week. You need to draw a line under any blip and end the beating yourself up for living.

2fat4that · 13/04/2015 19:57

Yes, Mis, you're right Blush I'll weigh myself when I next go upstairs Blush

OP posts:
MisForMumNotMaid · 13/04/2015 20:11

The logic behind the why to weigh reasoning.

Right now you know/ feel you've gained. Lets just guess its a bigun 5lb and you don't weigh - I mean why weigh you know you've gained. If you have a really good week, try hard, feel good about yourself and get on the scales you may see a 1 or 2lb gain. It then feels like you've had a gain for all your good effort so whats the point?

If you weigh weekly, then next weigh in you know if your progress. This time next week it could be a 2/ 3lb loss rather than seeing it as a gain.

2fat4that · 14/04/2015 00:02

Today I had poached egg and baked beans on toast, baked potato with cheese for lunch and lasagne with salad for dinner, snacks of one Mini milk ice lolly and an Alpen light cereal bar and a small bag of popcorn.

I've checked and my weigh in day is Tuesday. I've weighed myself and have gained 4 lbs.

Ah well, onwards and upwards ..

OP posts:
MisForMumNotMaid · 14/04/2015 09:44

That'll be onwards and downwards! Easter is part of life. Hopefully its jelly weight and within a couple of weeks this will be just a minor blip.

You've got me thinking about poached eggs. I tend to scramble or fry but poached are my favourites.

I'm taking my eldest two to a theme park shortly. A day of junk food and possibly ice cream avoidance is on the cards. I'm already thinking an ice cream probably wont be too bad but then I'd miss a bit of chocolate when the kids are in bed. Decisions decisions.

2fat4that · 14/04/2015 10:16

I love poached eggs Smile

At least I enjoyed the chocolate and cake that led to my gain. It was never going to be a good combination, easter and dds birthday, unfortunately I didn't get straight back on track, so lost a whole week off healthy eating.
