Has anyone ever taken a child of 8 to doctors as they don't sleep?

as you can guess we're getting desperate

ds has never been a good sleeper and he's getting worse

we're having to lie beside him every night till he falls asleep - sometimes lying there for an hour

he won't sleep unless we're there. we've tried letting him scream but that keeps his elder sibling awake and isn't working for us as a family.

the doctors is a last resort but will he laugh at me?

ssd, drugs aren't the only option your GP has - he/she can help you access psychological support for your son if that's what you need.

Or if you can afford it, you might be able to find a private specialist.

As well as the previous links there is a Charity called http://www.youngminds.org.uk/ Young Minds their slogan is 'everyone has a right to feel good' and have areas on their website aimed at children and young teens.

This may be a sensible alternative if you do not wish to see your GP.

I can understand your desire not to go to GP as I am having issues with my DD at the mo, whom I think may be depressed, but I don't really want to go in and make it all official without having done everything I can first.

I hope things improve.
