Well...I had to think of something! DH's suggestion "Eyes wide shut--the art of sleepwalking"

OP posts:
MegBusset · 21/12/2007 13:23

Beal: he did mostly sleep through, I had to rearrange him at about 9pm as he'd got into a funny position in the cot, and he grizzled a couple more times in the evening but I didn't have to go in to him.

I think some of the problem at 5.30am was that his crying woke next door's little boy, who tends to communicate by screaming at the top of his lungs (he is autistic) which in turn kept DS from resettling. We are considering swapping his bedroom with DH's office so that DS and next door's kids don't wake each other up (the walls aren't that thick!).

MegBusset · 21/12/2007 13:24

RoRo: enjoy your holiday!

ocomeALLYebabies · 21/12/2007 19:47

RoRo - hope you enjoy the break babe, you deserve it!

Meg - ds2 bedroom is adjacent to next doors bathroom and they are 3 incontinent sisters it seems, they're up and down to the loo all night, i hadn't thought about that unsettling him. good idea, i'll look into it.

gingerninja · 23/12/2007 09:33

Hello all, we had a stinker of a night. Yesterday and all nigh and all morning DD has been grizzly and we had a couple of screamathons. Awake for an hour and a half in the night. Classic teething I think but nothing seems to be settling her at the moment. HO Hum We have had a couple of sleep throughs recently though (although only til 5.30 because that seems to be her time to get up regardless.)

Hope you're all ok, probably all off christmas shopping. Perhaps we can share a sherry on Christmas day and for those on their holidays have fun and 'see' you soon

MegBusset · 23/12/2007 09:39

Hi Ginger! It has been quiet round here, hasn't it? for teething, surely she must have most of them through now?! We have still only got two here so got all that to come.

How is DH? And what are you up to for Christmas?

Nights are still fine here, although we are getting early-ish mornings too, up at 6.15 the last couple of days, better than 5.30 I spose!

gingerninja · 23/12/2007 09:44

Hiya Meg. It's the molars, they're a nightmare. We didn't have these problems with the front teeth. We have one molar fully through one half through and another popping the gum. I think that means we're about half way there and then eye teeth.

DH is still ill (thanks for asking) he's been refered to a neurologist and has an appointment for the end of Jan so hopefully we'll get some answers then and then know what we're dealing with.

Glad your little fella is doing well still, we're at home for Christmas on our own. (nice and quiet) how about you?

MegBusset · 23/12/2007 09:58

Have got my mum and stepdad staying with us atm, my sister is coming over tomorrow and staying til Boxing Day so we'll have rather a full house! Then up to Norwich to see MIL and Suffolk to see my dad. Phew!

Good that you've got a referral for DH, hope you get some answers then.

gingerninja · 23/12/2007 10:32

Sounds lovely Meg. Have a good one. Must go shopping now. ergh.

EffiePerine · 23/12/2007 10:39

Am also shopping this morning - bleurgh. Just need to go to the butchers and I think that's it. Glad you got a referral Ginger . Is your DH feeling better now there is a plan?

Meg: we've got as far as DS spending the early part of the night in the cot and he actually seems to be sleeping better there. He's still coming in with us later, as he sleeps better with us for the second half of the night. So slow progress .

Last night was odd but good - DS went to sleep 8ish, awake 10ish and wanting to play, finally went to sleep again at about midnight and I think either woke once or not al att until 7! So pretty good . The bottom molars have more or less come through now.

My earache has also more or less gone (thank goodness) so I actually got some sleep too!

Hope you all have a fantastic Chrsitmas, whether with families, in Budapest or wherever!

MegBusset · 24/12/2007 09:22

EP: yay for earache being gone, and progress with sleeping!

I still have a cold, just hoping DH doesn't come down with it too. Also our dishwasher has broken , DH had better fix it before Christmas dinner!

Anyway happy Christmas to all of you and thanks for all your support this year, I really don't think I could have got through without you all. And a special big Xmas kiss to Tamdin if you are reading this!

ChubbyShcotsBurd · 24/12/2007 09:37

Sorry folks, you have been neglected!

Sending Christmas best wishes to you all, esp teething babies (sending Bonjela too ) and ailing DPs ((gingerDP))

Ro is all I have to say!

Sleep is middle of the road here, let's hoping it doesn't go the wrong way over Christmas.

Must go wash and finish the last of the million things to do at this time of year!

ocomeALLYebabies · 24/12/2007 11:13

after last night i get the feeling that my kids will be seeing Santa this year! and be seeing what he's bought them rather early!

did our food shopping today at 5:30am, it wasn't busy, we got a turkey and everything else except goose fat so i'm well chuffed, was rather sceptical that we wouldn't be having frozren chips and pizza for christmas dinner!

merry christmas everyone, hope you have a good one!

gingerninja · 24/12/2007 12:08

Morning all. We had a night to beat all rotten nights. Bed 7.30. Awake and screaming between 8 and 9 sleep until 12. Awake and screaming until 3!. Asleep until 5 screamed until 6 then slept until 8. We're shattered. She is mega dribbley and not eating a thing and generally just very unhappy. Hope she's better tonight else I'm not sure Father Christmas will have any time to deliver presents.

Sleep sounding better EP and good news about the earache. Meg, sorry you're still coldy.

Echoing what Meg says about the amazin support you've given me over the last year. Thanks everyone. Hope you all have a very merry and peaceful Christmas.

charliemama · 24/12/2007 15:13

Merry Christmas one and all.

Crappy night last night. I think (hope) that DS2 is teething as he has gone off his food during the day. But now wants to make up for it at night. (thanks for your post on the other thread Meg ) Heres hoping that things get better soon (hopeful emoticon)

RoRo when you get back tell us all about Budapest. I au-paired there for 4 children when I was 18 and still visit occasionally.

You are all lovely thankyou for everything.

gingerninja · 27/12/2007 19:19

Hope you're all enjoying the festivities. Unfortunately DD didn't give me a lay in for a present, saving it for another year apparently!!

She's been a nightmare actually, teething hell this molar thing. anyway. Hope Father Christmas was generous and you've all stuffed yourselves on too much turkey to make up for the lack of sleep.

Take care

MegBusset · 27/12/2007 22:40

Hi Ginger

Hope Santa brought you some nice treats to make up for the teething nightmare. We were somewhat invaded as my parents and sister stayed longer than originally planned, but they've all gone now so we are enjoying a bit of peace and quiet!

DS was unsettled on Christmas Eve (maybe he was trying to wait up to catch Santa) but aside from that been good. I am looking forward to using my pressie from DH (voucher for a massage at local Champneys!)

Anyway hope everyone else is chilling out.

ChubbyShcotsBurd · 28/12/2007 13:07

Hi folks, hope everyone's recovering!

beal, ginger and charlie especially, you guys sound like you need some unconscious time!

Things OK here on the whole (remarkably good considering the change of routine I guess) but terrible, painful, miserable wind is causing DS and us untold misery at times. I am a bit scared that we're heading for chronic overtiredness, unlikely to be helped by the impending drive to visit the in-laws again ... however, hopefully it will come to nothing and I will have some remaining non-grey hair when I return to tell the tale!

So, have a great Hogmanay!

ChubbyShcotsBurd · 28/12/2007 13:41

And happy birthday beal hope you're having a fab day

MegBusset · 31/12/2007 12:59

Happy birthday Beal!

Paging EP and Tibsy -- can I ask a question about cutting down on daytime BFs, ie when did you do it? I am still feeding 4x a day but have a vague feeling like I ought to replace the two daytime ones with food soon-ish? How and when did you do this or are you still BF during the day? (I want to keep morning and bedtime ones...)

Hope you are all having a lovely (and sleepy) time...

Tamdin · 31/12/2007 14:39

hello girls. just wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

(all still fine with ds but sleeping went tits up last week due to back molars.)

hope all is well. haven't been on musmet for weeks so will try to have a quick browse.

lots of love

ocomeALLYebabies · 31/12/2007 16:32

thanks CSB and Megs, DF took me as a total shock surprise to London to see Chicago and then overnight in a hotel, was absolutely fab!

nights here are ok, up twice and then we start the day at 4:30

meg - you dont necessarily need to cut down the breatmilk just give some food and follow it with you and your supply will soon change. we're still on about 6x during day at he's 10mo now!

Amberjee · 02/01/2008 03:30

hi everyone. happy new year and i'm back. as you can see we're up for the day from 2am, so a good start to a jetlagged year!!

guess we'll be having a nap soon though.

hope everyone is well, will try to catch up with bits of what is happening.

Amberjee · 02/01/2008 03:33

Meg, I wouldn't worry about phasing out breastfeeds. In your position I'd probably feed solids first and then milk so he can take what he needs after a solid meal. or separate feeds completely, these days i mostly just feed before naps and bed, but then sometimes the urge takes us both and more feeds are necessary. don't worry too much though, it will sort itself out quite naturally i think. 4 BFs in the day sounds quite reasonable at that age too. i think they say at 1 year, milk should still be at least 75% of their diet.

MegBusset · 02/01/2008 08:49

Hi Amber! How was the flight back? Hopefully you're back in bed now!

Beal, your birthday trip sounds lovely! Gold star to DP

Lovely to see you Tamdin. Hope those teeth come through quickly.

We have got a third tooth, I always thought the front ones were supposed to come through first, but it's the one to the right of the top teeth. He was grizzly all day yesterday and did a massive vomit all over me and the floor at bedtime, amazingly he still slept through though. He's much chirpier this morning.

Tamdin · 02/01/2008 08:55

hi amber how was oz? did you get a night out with dh now that you had babysitters!
