Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

tibs he dropped to one nap around a year old. used to have one in afternoon about 3 but found more and mor eoften that he wasn't tired at this time and if he did sleep he wouldn't go to bed until 9 ish. now he has a sleep 11-1 and then bed at 7. 6 hours sounds long for afternoon but we're usuually out so he keeps going. Only time now he'd fall asleep in afternoon is if we are in car and he has his dummy!

Amberjee · 24/07/2007 18:47

hello everyone, we've really had a perfect day today after our 8.30 start
we both had a really good time at the last BF course session. we were out the back in someone's huge garden in stoke newington and had a nice lunch and LO played with fun toys and got poked a lot by toddlers. when he got a bit tired, we walked home and he slept all the way, then he scoffed down a huge dinner, and is already in bed as he was soooo tired.

bags - so very very cute!!

wishing everyone sleep filled nights.

tibsy · 24/07/2007 21:25

amber, that sounds like a lovely day wishing you, and everyone else a sleep filled night too

gingerninja · 24/07/2007 21:35

Bags, she is a beaut.

We are without bumbo but they do look cute so very nearly bought one.

Tibs, how old is your DD? Mine is almost 11 months (born 7/9) and goes down well for two naps. One about 9 for an hour and then again at 1.30-2 for an hour and a half. She's seeming less and less tired in the morning but still goes to sleep so don't know whether to just keep going with that. When she starts at the childminders in a few weeks she'll probably not get the same napping schedule so I don't know whether to play with it myself or just wait for it to go all pear shaped for a while when she starts which will eventually result in one nap a day)

morning everyone. can't believe i'm first up

we had a so-so night. wakings at 11 and 3.30 (awake for an hour) and up at 6.30.

hope everyone had good nights.

bagsundereyes · 25/07/2007 07:59

Morning all,

How are things today?

Meg for the 5 day poo - that must have been an experience!

Curate's egg of a night here. DD eventually settled at 8 after lots of resettling. Then nothing til 12 . Fed, up again at 2.30, didn't really settle from then on . Didn't help that DH had a 5.30 start, so DD assumed it was morning for me and her too!

I tried the dummy removal thing yesterday a couple of times. If I remove it before she drops off, she's back clamouring for it again. I'm going to stick with removing it 2-3 mins after she drops off for now, and build things up from there.

bagsundereyes · 25/07/2007 08:00

x post Amber!

Hi there,

Sounds like an ok night, though I'm sure your standards have raised now! The long wakings are tricky though .

Tamdin · 25/07/2007 08:35

morning.
bugger of a night here. I was out for dinner with the girls so when i got home at 11 ds thought it was morning and wanted to get up and play!
didn't go back to sleep until 12 then woke at 3, 4.30 and 7 for the day.

He's 1.5 today!! please god let him not still be sleeping this badly at 2!

Amberjee · 25/07/2007 08:41

yeah would have been ok apart from the long waking. though have high hopes of one waking nights!
for your crazy nightbags

Amberjee · 25/07/2007 08:42

blerrgh, tamdin, that is harsh. hope you at least had a nice night out.

MegBusset · 25/07/2007 08:55

Morning ladies.

Bags and Tam for your nights. Amber, glad yours was OK (even if not the best by recent standards!).

Not a great night here, though not awful I suppose - very unsettled from 10 til 11.30, then slept til 1, then in with me and woke several times to feed before 7.30. When will our little monkeys learn to sleep?

EffiePerine · 25/07/2007 09:20

Tam: I find DS gets unsettled when my routine changes - I suppose they like to know where we are

Came home early yesterday as was feeling ill (got DS's tummy bug) and collapsed in bed. Tried to get DS to settle at the usual time, but we knew I was there and kept waing up and yelling. Finally brought him to bed about 10pm and I think the night was OK - can't remember much before feeding him at 5am but he could have fed a few times before that!

Your day sounds v pleasant Amber . Are you now a qualified bf supporter?

Love all the pics btw

tibsy · 25/07/2007 11:03

Meg - sounds like an ok one?

amber - 1 hr wakings,....nooooooooooooooo thye really are unfair

ours ok, woke at 11pm just as i was going to bed fed and came in with me. nothing til 5am, then woke at 8am feel quite refreshed this morning

gotta go, my mums just arrived, best get kettle on x

MrsThierryHenry · 25/07/2007 11:47

Morning all. Well, I wish I'd tried the BW advice earlier because it's had an instant impact! After 3 months of determination and failure using NCSS, the first day I tried BW he cried and cried for about 2 hours in our arms, and then I finally settled him with a good dose of the old power milk and cuddles. He then slept for 6 HOURS before waking . Same again last night . Flippin 'eck I feel like a million squillion dollars. Even felt wide awake all day for my birthday yesterday . Am getting older and rapidly greyer.

Wrote to Liz Pantley to tell her why I was giving up on her book, and she sent the loveliest and most supportive email straightaway, bless her.

So sorry for your recent bad nights.

Bags, your DD is an absolute beauty. What a charmer. But at 2.30am I'm sure 'charm' is not the first word to spring to mind, you poor love.

Got to go - DS just woken and beginning to wonder where I am.

tibsy · 25/07/2007 12:17

mrsth sleeptastic 6 hr stretch!!!! am really really chuffed for you. bless elizabeth pantley for replying!!!!!
my turn to feel a bit foolish, but whats BW? xx

Amberjee · 25/07/2007 12:32

elizabeth pantley does seem very genuine, i saw that she'd made comments on someone's blog when they were having trouble with baby not sleeping, and she asked them to email her about it, she was hoping she could help.

not sure what BW is either GW?

i just sent an email seeing what you gals think of getting a picture header for our blog. i just did a quick example, so have a look. and send me any great pics of sleeping babies or other relevant themes. i know it's an irony, we should have pictures of non- sleepy babies, but anyway.

bagsundereyes · 25/07/2007 12:34

Meg - sounds like an ok night. Is DS's eczema any better?

Tam for your shenanigans - bet the night night out was worth it though . Happy 1.5 for DS!

EP - sorry to hear you've got the lurgy. Hoping for a better night for you, so you can rest.

Tibs - sounds like an ok night. How's FIL?

Mrs. TH - a 6 hour stretch sounds fab. Which bits of BW were you using? And belated Happy Birthday .

Tamdin · 25/07/2007 12:40

Think BW is baby whisperer as in pick up/put down.

Off to check out blog header

Amberjee · 25/07/2007 12:40

ah, idiot me. Baby Whisperer.

Too many acronyms in this baby sleep business!

Amberjee · 25/07/2007 12:41

i think we can find better pic tam, i just grabbed the first one i found with closed eyes!

Tamdin · 25/07/2007 12:44

not surprisingly I don't have any of ds asleep! Think pic of your ds is lovely.
Will try and take some of ds in next week or so and send you a few

Amberjee · 25/07/2007 13:01

oh i found another one of ds refusing to sleep. maybe this is more our style

Amberjee · 25/07/2007 13:20

tamdin, i see you've spent some time on bondi beach ;)
i miss Sydney beaches...

Tamdin · 25/07/2007 13:22

I wish i was there now!
Face book confuses me. Wasn't sure if album could be viewed but it must have worked if you can see my pics. Also what does 'poke' someone mean?

EffiePerine · 25/07/2007 13:23

Amber: can we add pics to the header on that template? Not sure but it would be good to try! We do have some pics of DS sleeping when he was much younger - will check.
