New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is six months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep! He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

Morning all..

Sometimes it's best if DH doesn't get involved - this is what I discovered in the steriliser 🙈

lizzlebizzle33 · 05/03/2018 10:16

What. Is. That?

lizzlebizzle33 · 05/03/2018 10:18

Has he tried to poach an egg in there?

MummyCuddlesSolveEverything · 05/03/2018 10:25

What is it??

DiscombobulatedWomble · 05/03/2018 11:34

Hahaha it was a teething toy from her playmat, now it is bin fodder & I'll have to get him to check with me before he puts anything else in there!

AMagdalena · 05/03/2018 12:22

Hiii Smile

Thank you for your condolences, ladies Flowers
Still no answers, no idea what had happened, caused this.
I can't accept someone I grew up with isn't there anymore.

DD has been an absolute star recently, though.
Apart from waking up 30mins after going down, she has been sleeping through for the last week or so, waking up at 5.30 or 7.30am Blush. So weird! I am so used to her waking up at least twice (on a good night) every night.
I don't expect this to last, so I will hang around here, if you don't mind!

Well done, baby @WhoAteAllThePercyPigs. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

UtterlyConfused111 · 05/03/2018 13:06

Big woo hoos for baby @babywhoateallthepercypigs and @babyamagdelena

@amagdelena
I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s such a difficult way to lose someone. I hope there are some answers soon.

@discombulated
At least his heart is in the right place.... I can see where he was going with sterilising the teething toy....

And finally; after recreating all conditions from the magical night of 7 straight hours (2 quick wake ups only which I won’t count) - no success! I didn’t give her baby rice again, she is young for weaning and it took her 3 days to poo so she was farting herself awake the next night... which kind of defeated the purpose. So no solids yesterday meant she was up at stupid o’clock howling for a feed last night (inevitably followed by a huge poo). Gah. I’ll try weaning again in a few weeks... it has to help.

MummyCuddlesSolveEverything · 05/03/2018 18:24

Glad that some of you have been getting better nights recently....hopefully what ever it is will rub off on all of us and we'll all have a great night.

I'm already worried about tonight. Ds had a 10minute cat nap on the way home from a baby group so his last proper nap is a bit later than usual (he fell asleep just after 6 and still going). Worried this will mess up everything up. Dh is working this evening so there's less pressure because I can just stay upstairs with ds and sleep without feeling like I should be downstairs.

Meepmoop · 05/03/2018 19:18

DS is asleep and has yet to be sick all over me (hope I haven't jinxed myself.
) I'm going to wait a little longer before I transfer though. I really really really need a good stretch tonight.

Catscatsandmorecats · 05/03/2018 20:53

Got both boys down without either of them having a meltdown tonight. DS2 has already woken for a quick slurp because of his cough and DS1 is hacking away in his room too. Did see the Dr who said we're doing everything right and it's viral so just have to ride it out. It's frustrating we are already doing everything but reassuring that it's nothing more sinister. She also said to keep feeding as much as he wants so if it's every hour and a half overnight so be it.

I've reached the point of tiredness where I am losing my vocabulary and having to stop mid sentence when I forget a word. Fortunately I haven't forgotten any swear words it seems so at least I can swear when I can't remember (and when DS1 isn't in earshot).

Fingers crossed for a good night for everyone 🤞

lizzlebizzle33 · 05/03/2018 21:14

Well still working on getting ds2 to bed here, I just can't stop him from having a nap at 6pm no matter what I do! He's incredibly cranky and always nods off after a feed, really need to get him out of this habit.

He is still just cat napping so has 45 mins at around 10, then if we're lucky an hour or more around 2. Ideally I would like to get him to bed between 6.30 and 7.30 but it's just not happening, he keeps falling asleep before I have him ready for bed.

Anyone who BF recommend a bottle before bed? Will it help me and him get more sleep?

FrozenMargarita17 · 05/03/2018 22:04

My LG went to bed at 6:30.... not a peep since.... I think this spells trouble. She normally wakes up 5+ times between 6:30-11 for her dummy.

lizzlebizzle33 · 05/03/2018 22:07

So this hasn't gone well, he woke up after 5 mins in his cot, wouldn't settle, had to give him boob again, then awake again after another 5 minutes.
I'm sooooo fed up of sharing my bed with him, I really don't want to co sleep but it's the only way anyone is going to get any sleep right now.

DH is just downstairs playing computer games as usual and clearly not giving a shit even though I've just text him and told him how fed up I am and that I just want to curl up and cry, he's read it but not even replied, fucking AH!!!

FrozenMargarita17 · 05/03/2018 22:40

@lizzlebizzle33 :( that's awful of him. I hate bloody video games !!

FrozenMargarita17 · 05/03/2018 22:41

Ahhh she woke up ....

Meepmoop · 05/03/2018 23:58

On wake up 2 feed 1 which is an improvement! However he keeps coughing and urging so I can't put him back in his cot as lying down is making it worse

@lizzlebizzle33 that's awful of your DH, I hope he's come up to help now. could your DS go to bed at 6 or not feed him until half past so he goes straight to bed when he falls asleep?

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/03/2018 01:17

On wake up 4557743 or so it seems here, I am slowly losing my marbles. The boys are both coughing and spluttering, DH is flapping about in his sleep and it's all disturbing MIL's dog who has come to stay, but at least she's being quiet. DS2 seems to be sleeping beautifully across me on the feeding pillow in a position I can't sleep in but won't sleep long anywhere else.

Lizzlebizzle my DH apologized for being a douche when I asked him to help earlier tonight. I don't know what he was thinking flat out refusing when tooI'm so shattered from lack of sleep and illness but at least he realised he had been U too late to actually help though. Your A-- DH is being very unsupportive, I hope he sees the error of his ways.

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/03/2018 01:18

Massive strikethrough fail, I should not attempt such tricksy stuff when so tired...

Jellybean2017 · 06/03/2018 01:29

I am tangry. So so tangry.

This sums it up 😴😴

The great non-sleepers... continued (again 😴)
tealandteal · 06/03/2018 04:04

On wake up number 3 but DS is wide awake this time giving me smiles. Think it will be a long one

jacobsgirl · 06/03/2018 04:44

DS woke up second time in 2 hours

Tried everything and couldn't get him back to sleep so gave in and went to make him a bottle

Have now returned with said bottle and he's out cold

WHY

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/03/2018 06:20

We've given up, after no more than an hour's sleep at any one time and mostly being up with DS2, DH took him off me, still couldn't resettle him so took him downstairs. DS1 is awake too because of his cough. I am back in bed but so over tired I can't get back to sleep.

This too shall pass but not fucking quickly enough

lizzlebizzle33 · 06/03/2018 06:21

Just to make my life even better, not only are the three noisy kids next door up for school extra early today, the other next door who keep chickens have now got s fucking cockerel!!!! 😩😩🐔🍗🍗

lizzlebizzle33 · 06/03/2018 06:24

Sorry @Catscatsandmorecats I hope you can get some sleep now at least. I know, even though you know it will pass and it's only s phase it still feels like this is your life forever now, sometimes I think someone has turned the light at the end of the tunnel off l.
