10 month waking at night

suss · 22/11/2005 09:10

hello Lynn, everybody else, we have 10 month old babes(they were 9 month old and waking at night) (boy and girl between us) who wake at night, if anybody has any reassurance to give us or some ideas as to what might be the problem, we are pretty sure its not teeth we would love to know. Lynn, last night DB was bad too he woke three times before 9pm he goes to bed between 6.30 & 7pm. But I had an IVF egg collection yesterday, so was in bed and so I didn't go in to him. He started off by moaning, which escalated slightly, but he stopped within 10 mins and went back to sleep. Hooray! Glad to hear you had some sleep over the wkend.

hi suss,

Last night Ryan woke up at 5.00am, i left him to cried for a hour. Then i gave up him by giving his milk!

I was so tried indeed, i will try tonight!

Thanks for the advice! x

LynnC · 17/01/2006 10:20

Hi suss/Natuk, how you both doing sleep wise? I still have same problem dd keeps waking and ends up in our bed. Any ideas would be gratefully received. I have decided to get a single matress or blowup bed and try sleeping in her room with her in an attempt to break this cycle I have got into. I think its more the security of knowing we are there she likes. I think her mollars might be on way soon too she is constanty pulling and rubbing her mouth. I've never done CC, dont think I'm brave enough and to be honest with having to work too theres never really a good time to start for me. Would be easier if DD went to sleep early but she doesnt go down till 10ish which is when I go to bed too.

suss - glad to hear you are going to try again as always wishing you all the luck in the world and hope to hear some good news in a few months.

Natuk · 26/01/2006 18:03

grr teething again!

Ryan is teething, it seem like he has been teething forever!

Last night, he woke up at midnight, 1am, 2am and 5am crying in pain. I gave him calpol and teething gel.

Ryan is waking up every night nearly, do u think it is teething everynight or a habit of waking up? I would love to do the CC, i am worry if it is teething!

I am knackered to be honest with you.

Hope everyone is well! x

LynnC · 30/01/2006 11:22

Hi Natuk - sorry to your your having bad time at moment with Ryan. Has it settled any over weekend? I'm afraid I'm not best one for giving advice as I'm in exactly same boat and resorted to dd sleeping with me just to get some sleep myself (although do put her in cot at first and bring her though to our room after a few wakings). I havent done cc either as like you think if theyve never had it up till now and to do it when they are in pain doesnt seem right. It probably is teething and just need to hope they come through soon and both of you manage to get some rest.

DD has not slept right though the night since new year when she was unwell. We are now on 8 teeth and gums very white at back so hoping when they all break through we will finally manage to sleep through the night before I collapse with exhaustion.

Wishing you a good nights rest soon and hopefully we will be posting faces instead of the usual ones at the moment.

Natuk · 30/01/2006 16:33

Hi LynnC

Thanks for the message!

Ryan has also got 8 teeths now. The last 2 nights he has slept through.( touch wood) 8am-6am after the feed, Ryan goes back to sleep till 9am so do i.

How are you getting on LynnC? x

LynnC · 01/02/2006 10:53

Hi Natuk, glad to hear you got a couple of good nights sleep, hope he is still settled and gets a break from teething for a little while.

Thanks for asking but still no further forward for me, beginning to feel like I will never get a good nights sleep again (its ok just feeling sorry for myself I know it will pass one day) DD still ends up in bed with me every night. Thats since new year now and I'm in a rut and just dont see it ending any time soon.

Thats a great sleeping pattern Ryan has and always nice when you can jump back into bed for that extra couple of hours. Hope you are both well.

suss · 13/02/2006 21:07

i am sorry I have been away for such a long time - don't seem to have any time for myself at the moment. DH has been away quite a lot since the end of Jan and I have computer problems. No Ds is still waking up and we now just ignore it and it has got better, when he wakes he may be cries a couple of times and then goes back to sleep, so I can't really complain. It is heartbreaking though and I hate it every time he wakes up and My DH will tell you I take it out on him every time! I think he might have measles - so I am mighty worried at the moment and don't know quite what to do. Hope you are well Lynn good to seen you on the Jan 2005 Board. Natuk how's Ryan doing sleepwise? Don't worry about the teeth thing - I think its all a myth about teething waking them up - I think its just the way they are made - they are wakers or sleepers - we just have to make sure we are not encouraging them to wake up by giving them company!

Hi Suss,

Ryan sleeping pattern gone backward! He is still waking up at 4am or 5am for his bottle.

My fault really, I am still giving his bottle at the time! Because i am so tired and i just give his bottle. I know Ryan will goes back to sleep 8 or 9am.

I am sure he is teething, when Ryan wake up.He has his fingers in his mouth etc

Some people say to me, Ryan will evenually grown out of it and sleep through.

I am trying to reducing his milk starting from tonight! Wish me luck!

Natalie x

suss · 13/02/2006 21:32

Good luck - Just decide how you are going to deal with it and stick to it - if you give half way through he knows he can get round you! thinking of you xxxx

OP posts:
LynnC · 14/02/2006 09:37

suss - hows db??? Hoping its not measles, poor soul Have you taken him to doctors? Are you ok? Can imagine you'll be worried sick and probably a lot worse with dh being away too. Let me know how he is when you can.

suss · 16/02/2006 19:15

Not measles thank god just a very nasty virus! he is now much better and although I will probably jinx it he is actually sleeping quite well at the moment. How are you doing Lynn? And how is Ryan, Natuk?

OP posts:
Natuk · 16/02/2006 19:53

Well the last 3 nights, Ryan has been sleeping through from 8am to 6.15am or so. (finger cross)

I haven't even started to reducing his milk, as he been sleeping till 6.15am. I can't believe it! .

I hope Ryan will carrying on sleeping through till 6ish. I am trying to leave Ryan till 7am for his feed or so, but he is hungry by 6ish.

Sorry to hear about your son, having a nasty virus, thanks god it isn't the measles!!

x

suss · 17/02/2006 13:50

keeping fingers crossed for you natuk. I read somewhere recently that babies sleep patterns start to be like adults around about one year - so maybe.... I am not going to say anymore! DB is much better, smiling and laughing again and eating all his food. Have a good weekend everybody. xxx

LynnC · 21/02/2006 09:22

Hi suss/Natuk glad to hear your sleeping issues are getting better. Thank god DB ok suss and not measles. No change for me DD still ends up in our bed sleeping !! Starting to feel like she will never go back to being a good sleeper. Shes had bad time of it lately with sickness and dioreah bug which took its tool on her, then DP had it so running after him, now looking after gran who has it. Anyway dd just getting over that now nose is streaming every two seconds and wont let you wipe her properly. She was running at weekend getting over excited and fell and burst her nose which was big fright seeing the blood. Then Sunday we ended up at A&E she fell banged her head again and started fitting and not breathing. Thankfully everything was fine (non breathing fit they called it) So I'm just a tiny bit knackered after everything! Last night felt like a punch and kick bag as dd takes whole bed and was in lots of pain with her mouth. I will be grateful when all this sickness and teething is over and maybe get the angel back who used to sleep right through the night with no problems.

Hope your both well and DB keeping well too.

suss · 26/02/2006 20:12

oh god lynn poor you it never rains.... DB has been ill again too with a v bad cold, sore throat, head ache I have it now! and like your dd he wont let you wipe his nose! He has been waking every 30 mins for the last four days (naps included) and although I haven't gone in every time, he has woken me and I am so knackered I think he could scream forever tonight and I won't hear him (I Hope). His appetite has gone completely as well Throat I think and I am hoping he is getting better as I am beginning to get worried that he is losing weight. Hope You and ryan are well natuk. Much love and sleep to you all xxxx

Hi suss, how are you and db feeling now? Hoping you are over the worst. Dont worry if db looses some weight it will soon go back on. As long as he is drinking plenty. DD lost lots of weight as she didnt eat for 8 days (not even milk!!) an occassional nibble on a plain biscuit to keep sugar levels up but now she is back to her wee podgy tummy thankfully. She still has cold and cant shift it but nose is constantly red and I keep putting vaseline on it to try ease any stinging. Hope you are sleeping better again now.

suss · 05/03/2006 20:25

ha ha ha dh now has cold and of course it is worse than either db or I had (even though I got tonsilitis and am on antibiotics) He is sitting in his chair dying (you know the special pose) although I have managed to do the mummy thing all week and the wife thing and the housework thing as normal, men eh! Anyway how are you all? I haev kept DB away from playgroup etc as I just need one week when we are not all ill. DB caught a cold at his birthday party in Jan and has been mostly ill since. But the sleep is better at the moment - bring on the next illness! Love and sleep xxx

LynnC · 06/03/2006 10:32

Awe suss didnt realise you were so unwell and laughing at the Mens Illness Pose - you are so right! Hopefully you are all on the mend. I can completely sympathise dd has been the same and been unwell since new year mainly just cold for most of it. Thats great your getting a better sleep now, hopefully thats you back to normal. Things still the same my end and dd in with me. Her cold has got slightly worse and now has a cough to go with the runny nose which is keeping us all awake just now. Feel so sorry for her we were back at A&E AGAIN at weekend dd running playing head first into corner of couch and head swelled up like big egg and black and blue straight away. Thankfully all is well bruising now scattering and black eye. I think she needs a crash helmet and some calm pills for me!

Is it this month for IVF? If so sending all best wishes your way and remember to let me know how things go. Take care.

suss · 08/03/2006 14:21

sorry to hear your DD little accident - hope the bump is going down. DH true to form has managed to have the worst illness of all - he has a chest infection and coughing all night (literally) keeping us awake! I am terrified DB is going to get it (caught him chewing DH's toothbrush this morning) as DH on strong antibiotics and could have landed in hospital if he had left it any longer. So we have to wait and see. No not going to do IVF this month now as I am V knackered so I am going to wait a month, but it might have to be May as the family commitments are piling up. Hope life and sleep are treating you better. xxx

Hi suss, sorry to hear dh is still unwell sounds awful and hope you and DB not caught it either?? Well no point writing about sleep its just the same never changing Sad I'm now a walking zombie. DD bump is going down well thankfully still bruised but that going away too. She got ear and chest infection now and on penicillin. Its just never ending! She was due mmr last week but cancelled due too illness so hoping to hear soon for next appointment and just hope she doesnt catch anything else. Have you had notice yet?

Wishing you lots of luck for May. Maybe your best waiting and thats giving you all time to recuperate and feel better. Hope to hear wonderful news by June Smile take care.

suss · 25/03/2006 14:08

sorry its been so long lynn, everyone here finally well hooray! Hope you are faring better too on the illness front. I haven't done MMR yet as there are no nurses at my surgery to do it apparently they are all away (skiing probably) but I haven't received a notice either. Mind you DB has been so ill I wouldn't have it done until he is well. Easter hols now so no playgroup etc for a while might be the opportune moment. Yes we are putting of the IVF until May as brothers 40th Bday would be bang in the middle of treatment. Hope you are sleeping more now - DB is so inconsistent some nights are v good and some night s are dreadful! sweet dreamsxxx

hi suss glad to hear all is improving your end and everyone feeling better. dd doing ok although on another course of medicine for a second ear infection. The poor soul seems to have had one thing after another since new year. We have received a second notice for mmr now due 5th April so fingers crossed all goes well. I am planning to take a few days off work to be with her afterwards. Dont know what I'm expecting but just want to be with her. She is still sleeping with me and know I have to get her back in her own cot but not sure if I'm strong enough to put up with the screaming in the night to get there yet.

That will be nice having a party to look forward to, is that a trip to Wales for you all then? We are going to St. Andrews at easter, only one night away but child free with friends so hoping to let hair down and enjoy ourselves.

How is db teething and walking? DD not had any teeth for a long time now she has four top & bottom...so much for thinking that was cause of lack of sleep!

Take care

suss · 27/03/2006 21:30

Sorry to hear that your LO is not well again DB has filthy cold and cough, I am listening to him coughing in his bed, not complaining bless him! I spoke to soon about his sleep on Sat we have had the two most appalling nights sleep I cannot tell you how many times he woke last night as I lost count and eventually (bad Mother Moment coming) I put in a pair of ear plugs. So I just hope he gets into a good sleep cycle soon. Have a fab time in St Andrews, it will be good for you to get away. DB has his eigth tooth coming through now, and I agree don't think sleep or lack of it has much to do with teeth, I am still convinced that they mve around the bed and wake themselves up! Sending lots of sleep dust x
