It is time for me to stop staying up until gone midnight, farting about fruitlessly under the false pretence of "me time."

Would anyone else like to pledge? Perhaps we can nag motivate each other.

YankNCock · 09/02/2011 12:51

ooooh, me, I'll join you! I also fart about fruitlessly saying 'well I haven't had any time to myself today', and then feel horrid the next day.

If you see me on MN past 10:30 please feel free to shout at me.

DirtyMartini · 09/02/2011 12:52

Oh yes yes yes. I do the same and it's very silly.

TanteRose · 09/02/2011 12:54

Oh God, I REALLY need to pledge this....I am usually up at 6:30am, so should really be in bed by 11pm, but it can be closer to 1am sometimes Shock

Ok....

I, Tante, hereby swear to be in bed, lights out, phone off, by 11pm....

Unfortunately its already nearly 10pm where I am, so I am going to have to get my skates on....wish me luck! Grin

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 09/02/2011 12:54

Perhaps we should pop back on here at 1030pm ish to say goodnight?

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 09/02/2011 13:00

(apart from TanteRose - go and get your pyjamas on!)

noddyholder · 09/02/2011 13:03

Me too I need more sleep.I am hopeless at stickimg to things but have stopped eating crap all the time so this is going to be my next goal!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 09/02/2011 13:03

Oh I do this too, can I join in? I always mean to go about tenish....ususally go up closer to twelve. Am constantly tired, and seriously flagging by the afternoon. Plus I have had so many colds lately and Im sure not enough sleep is half to blame....

Why is it so difficult to just go to bed? To me, it just feels as though it is a bit of a waste of an evening, which is so silly, as obviously sleeping isn't a waste of time at all is it?

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 09/02/2011 13:35

Geraldine, I think you're right - for myself, I am currently prioritising about 90 minutes - 2 hours of channel surfing, reading or messing about on phone/PC over sleep. I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets precious little time to just sit quietly and BE, which is why it's so tempting to stay up late with the living room to myself.

I need to re-prioritise sleep. I might make a list of WHY sleep is more important than the next chapter of my book, or internet surfing.

List of reasons, then... more energy... health... less irritable... better concentration... better healing... no 3-4pm slump to get over...

OK, reporting back - 10:50pm here, and I am in my pyjamas, all ready for bed!

in the past hour, I have:

finished the last bit of washing up
sorted out packed lunch for DD tomorrow
helped DS get ready for school tomorrow - various last minute things he needed....
made sure DCs were in bed - they are 13 and 11, and would stay up til all hours if it was up to them..
had a nice soak in the bath

and I still have...ooh...8 minutes to spare!

Go, me Grin

oh and nighty-night...shall be back tomorrow to check you all kept the faith!

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 09/02/2011 13:59

TanteRose has thrown down the gauntlet Grin

Right then everyone, see you back here at 10:30pm in your pyjamas...

OP posts:
YankNCock · 09/02/2011 14:07

I think I might have to set an alarm on my phone! See you back at 10:30.

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 09/02/2011 14:08

Another good idea, Yank - I will do that too.

OP posts:
YankNCock · 09/02/2011 14:18

or I would if I could find my sodding phone. This is why I need more sleep, I spend half my day in a fog trying to find crap!

noddyholder · 09/02/2011 14:22

Ok have set phone for 10pm.Then I will start all the faffing I do and hope to be in bed with book at 10.30 lights out by 11

geraldinetheluckygoat · 09/02/2011 16:13

I also spend half the day looking for stuff that I have lost, YankNCock. I wounder if when we are all going to bed by ten thirty, we will all miraculously become super organised?Grin

madamimadam · 09/02/2011 16:27

Can I also sign up? I've been trying and failing to be in bed by 10.30 for bloody months. It's not as though I'm up doing anything productive, either...

Tonight, I, Madamimadam will start turning in before the start of Newsnight.

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 09/02/2011 16:32

Welcome to the fold, MadamImAdam

Newsnight is a regular culprit in our house, too. Too many big thoughts at bedtime...

Newsnight is a killer and as for question time......

madamimadam · 09/02/2011 16:41

Thank you, Fanjo. Both for welcoming me into the fold and understanding the Newsnight conundrum (unless it's Gavin Essler. Then it's remarkably easy to do something else...)

You've stiffened my resolve for tonight. I can't let you down now.

(Please God let it be Essler, not Kirsty or Paxo tonight....)

CJCregg · 09/02/2011 16:45

Can I join too? I am so bad at going to bed that I feel asleep fully clothed last night and woke up at 5.30 to find lights blazing, heating had been on all night and nothing done for the morning.

I blame MN Grin

But seriously, I desperately need to be in bed by ten. It's fucking ridiculous.

Help me.

CJCregg · 09/02/2011 16:46

Fell asleep.

But I was feeling asleep before then Grin.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 09/02/2011 16:50

I get myself all settled by about 8pm. Think I will just have a quick look on MN before I do my reading and studying. Then its 12.oo and I am too knackered to even pick up a book.

I am never going to finish this degree am I Blush

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 09/02/2011 16:52

More pledgers! Welcome one and all :)

Oh Noddy, Question Time is terrible before bed. It's the participation aspect, I think. Makes me feel I want to give everyone the benefit.

CJCregg, sounds like pyjamas would be a good start!
