It is time for me to stop staying up until gone midnight, farting about fruitlessly under the false pretence of "me time."

Would anyone else like to pledge? Perhaps we can nag motivate each other.

Blush Blush just off to bed. Busy evening and I just wanted to watch one pre-recorded episode of something on tv first before bed.

katiecubs · 12/02/2011 09:49

Hello all have been lurking so far but also trying to follow the same advice.

Fanjo also have a bit of insomnia - mostly after waking in the night rather than falling asleep. Have you been to the doc about it?

Have also seen advice to get up and do something but that never works for me, in fact leads to much worse sleep.

YankNCock · 12/02/2011 17:41

oops, utterly failed last night. Didn't get in bed till near midnight then read until past 1am Blush

Will do better tonight, see you later for lights out!

YankNCock · 12/02/2011 22:49

going to bed now! Can't say I'll be lights out at 11pm, but I will be in bed. Am tearing myself away from MN and ebay (free listing weekend).

Now the rest of you...

GO TO BED!!!! You need your rest.

Teaandcakeplease · 13/02/2011 09:52

Well I genuinely tried to go to bed at 10.30pm but my poorly son had others ideas. So I've been up and down most of the night with him, he has diarrhoea Sad Can you still buy the Kaolin for children? Confused

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 13/02/2011 14:27

Welcome Katiecubs! Your insomnia sounds a lot like mine. I will mention it to the doc, I think. Have you?

Teaandcakeplease, sorry to hear about DS's poorly tum. There's no planning for that. Hope it's a short-lived thing and that he keeps it to himself!

Yank, I like your commitment. How did you get on last night?

I didn't say goodnight last night because I was feeling a bit dozy at 10, and had given the bedroom a good clear-out and rearrange yesterday. So I thought i'd just go and read in my comfy, clean bedroom for a bit. Next thing I knew, I woke up at 7am (THANK YOU DS!)

SO nice to wake up thinking "ah, yawn & stretch" rather than "Nooooo, the pain, no, I can't do it, please no" etc.

See you tonight?

My exh has picked it up it appears when he watched him for me yesterday whilst I was at a mumsnet meet up. I'm ok though and so is DD so far

Here's to hoping tonight he sleeps a little better, I'm loving this new routine of getting more sleep.

katiecubs · 13/02/2011 19:54

Fanjo - yes i have. Mine got pretty bad though and i was having panic attacks when i woke up. Doc prescibed Anti-D's (for anxiety not depression) which have really helped, now i'm not worrying about sleep i generally sleep much better. It's been a really gradual thing though, DS is also now in his own room and mostly sleeps through which has also helped.

They also reasurred me that a lack of sleep wouldn't do me any harm other than making me feel tired which is something i worried about - aparently anything from 3-11 hours per night is considered normal!

Teaandcakeplease · 13/02/2011 22:10

Night. So DS is sleeping ok tonight but DD is hot and sleeping badly instead Hmm

YankNCock · 13/02/2011 22:20

I read for a while last night, not sure exactly when I turned the light off but I am trying to be better at stopping at first sign of tiredness rather than continuing to read. As a kid I was regularly found asleep with lights on and a book on my face, it is a habit of many years I am trying to break!

I didn't get all my ebay listing done, but I normally don't have pricey things so got the one expensive item listed and the rest can wait for another day.

It's 10:20pm, so I am going to head upstairs after I check just a few more threads.....really....just a few more, I'm out of here by 10:30!

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 13/02/2011 22:35

Thanks, Katiecubs. Teaandcakeplease, I hope you have a peaceful night.

Goodnight to everyone else x

YankNCock · 13/02/2011 22:46

I am REALLY going now

Night all!

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 14/02/2011 20:20

Okay, it's the start of a new week. Just think how much better it's going to be with some decent sleep under our belts...

I, Fanjo, pledge to be in bed, lights off, phone off, by 11pm.

OP posts:
Teaandcakeplease · 14/02/2011 22:13

Off to bed in a mo as I'm exhausted.

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 14/02/2011 22:41

Good pledge, Teaandcakes

Goodnight all, reading in bed now and the book has touched my nose once already so off shortly I reckon...

noddyholder · 14/02/2011 22:42

I have stuck to this apart from saturday! I am off to bed now though as I can hardly keep awake Think I am getting used to the earlier nights!

YankNCock · 14/02/2011 23:23

Have failed tonight Blush

But I will turn lights out by midnight tonight and back to 11pm tomorrow night.

Teaandcakeplease · 15/02/2011 21:02

I'm ahead of the game tonight. Off to bed now Wink

WillYouDoTheDangFanjo · 16/02/2011 06:27

Wow noddyholder that's brilliant!

Yank, before midnight is still a bonus, is it helping?

Teaandcake sorry I wasn't around last night. I went to bed at 830 for a little rest & read. Was asleep at 930! Have just woken up naturally feeling quite refreshed.

Why has it taken me nearly 40 years to suss this? I was a bit worried that I would get less done by "losing" a few hours each day to sleep, but I've been very productive and on the ball at work & home.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 16/02/2011 10:57

I agree I am more on the ball when I get enough sleep.

madamimadam · 16/02/2011 14:34

Hello, everyone. Sorry not to have signed in for the evening rollcalls but DS has been ill and waking at 4am each morning - and now I've got it too. So while I haven't made it to bed before 11 over the weekend, I did manage 8.30 last night. (I attribute this to the 'Fanjo effect' - you don't know what you've started!)

Teaandcakes, hope your DCs are feeling much better - and that everyone else has a good night.

Fanjo - Asleep at 9.30! That's incredible! Will try and emulate this evening.

katiecubs · 16/02/2011 22:05

gosh everyone is being so good! feel the need to follow suite - right off to put on my jammies night night x

katiecubs · 16/02/2011 22:06

*suit - must be tired, why is there no tired face?!
