hasn't this gone far enough? these threads are being allowed to stand which considering the "policies" of the BNP and the views expressed by "activists" is appalling. yes, free speech is wonderful, but some of these threads can be seen as inciting racial hatred, there are many, many, disablist, homophobic, racist remarks made and implied and they always go the same way. the threads are started to cause a bunfight. the BNP will not get anymore supporters on here, so why be deliberately controversial?

mn is a self-moderated site. this is great and one of the reasons i use it. however, the mners are now moderating and saying that we have had enough. we have complained a LOT about this type of thing - please take note!

If it was just about starting threads then that would be a different issue as that could be solved by closing offensive threads. But as it is also about making deliberately hurtful comments on other people's threads that is inexcusible. Especially when those comments are never apologised for, and in fact spawn more of the same. Shows a total unwillingness to engage, kind of defeats the purpose of a forum. And is exactly what all trolls do.

yes, larrysgal, what you have there is a typical dp bit of spin. 'you hijack all these threads and hurt people, who are now leaving because of you'. to which the reply is 'i've only started 2 threads'.

But DaftPunk has been here since May 2008 (sad I know to have checked) and in that time she has posted in most topics, about those topics. Style and beauty, Larger families, Philosophy and Religion, AIBU, Education, Politics (!!!), Meet-ups, Mental Health, the list goes on.

I am not agreeing with DP's views, nor saying that I think she should be sharing them on threads where she is clearly prejudiced and hurtful (I myself have a child who is disabled from not-too-long-after-conception, so know how hurtful those comments are). But I don't think it is as simple as "Troll".

Technically it is. Although traditionally trolls are only newbies who've joined specifically to troll sites, it isn't limited to them. It is anyone who is offensive repeatedly and usually uses controversial subjects to cause maximum offense.

she was anti-bnp when she was a normal poster. she was married to a mixed-race man when she was a normal poster.

This is not a matter of a poster having unpalatable view and disclosing it, and then everyone talking about it. And them either sticking with that view or not.

DP has told us her views repeatedly, and each time there is no engagement, just offensive and ever more inflammatory comments. Each time she starts afresh, posters who are not familiar with her will try to engage with her and it will be teh same every single time.

Each time whenever things get to a point where people are giving up there will be the old "oh no I'm trying to understand really I am" to draw people back in. Each time it's "oh I don't mean to upset anyone really, I won't do this again" and then bosh next thread exactly teh same in for the jugular.

MN is great because we can talk about whatever we like.

But there is no room for people who deliberately and repeatedly post offensive and inflamatory shite. That is trolling and MN have a troll policy, they need to enforce it.

Yes Lou, but you will have noticed that she has been becoming more and more unhinged (for want of a better word) and spiteful and hateful over the last few months.

Not an awful lot of contribution to Style and Beauty (guess Nazi costumes aren't "in" this year) or Meet-ups or anywhere other than where she can vent her spleen.
