MNHQ, a word in your shell-like please - about these pro-BNP threads... consider this a petition

hasn't this gone far enough? these threads are being allowed to stand which considering the "policies" of the BNP and the views expressed by "activists" is appalling. yes, free speech is wonderful, but some of these threads can be seen as inciting racial hatred, there are many, many, disablist, homophobic, racist remarks made and implied and they always go the same way. the threads are started to cause a bunfight. the BNP will not get anymore supporters on here, so why be deliberately controversial?

mn is a self-moderated site. this is great and one of the reasons i use it. however, the mners are now moderating and saying that we have had enough. we have complained a LOT about this type of thing - please take note!

Greensleeves i do think youve misunderstood my post - i was not aiming my comment at one one poster personally - just need to clear that up - my comment wasnt aimed at you.

i dont disagree with any of you for saying something is objectionable and arguing the point - i just dont want censorship on the boards. i think people are able to make up their own minds about what a poster is saying and disagree if its wrong.

sometimes the mud slinging goes both ways.

ill help you bump this thread off the boards if you like.

OK, I did take it personally and was quite upset about it

I am not a pitchforking meathead

but I am going to diengage from this one now, I've had enough.

oh dont bump the thread to end it.let it stand people can decide for themselves.

ok.

greensleeves i really do not think your a pitchforking meathead. why on earth would i think that? i dont know a single person on this board in RL. im sure in RL everyone would be quite different and not so keen to get stuck into a good scrap, swear and generally be totally unpleasant to each other, DP included more than likely.

really,my comments weren't aimed at you.
i just saw some pretty massive double standards and questioned it, and that wasnt intended to upset anyone.

if mumsnet became censored or moderated id hate it, i used to go on another forum and you couldnt say carseat because of the swear filter and it really annoyed me. i thought this place was quite refreshing when i found it.

I guess they would say that one is a personal attack and th other is an opinion not directed at a specific poster.

Report
scottishmummy · 16/05/2010 20:38

aye do get your point.as i see it is in the wording and personalisation.grey area really

so for example somone may say
"scottishmummy you're a bumptious twat"- deleted as personal attack

"scottish mummies are all bumptious twats"- not deleted as not personal attack on an individual

I agree that is the distinction

but when a poster consistently posts these comments on threads where she KNOWS there is a gay poster/scottish mummy/whatever, and everyone knows it's targeted and deliberate, the distinction becomes semantic and the situation becomes untenable. IMO.

Why can't she just STOP? That's all anyone wants.

Members of the BNP are all bumptious twats and ignorant fascists to boot

people who post homophobic shite dont engage in robust discourse.and they will cite any quasi-research or anecdotal chuff to substantiate their pov

imo best attack is consistent rebuke.

not sure the troll patrol.or getting over personal is right tack either.as essentially i think the intent is to rile. overall the majority of mn do always rally when they see such obvious abuse

SM; I have said 50x (on this thread alone I think) that I want to move on and forget politics...I'm emotionally drained by all this...I don't know what more I can say or do...I've agreed to stay off 99% of MN for 3 months...for everyones sake.

LG, I asked you earlier if you wanted to shake hands and move on...I am prepared to do that..

Let's look to the future and not the past..

That's a good start isn't it..?

let me get this straight dp,you're drained by deriding others?

so on a certain level have you processed the comments received.has any of it permeated? or do you just want a break from the rebukes you are getting

leningrad has been extremely gracious to you DP,despite your previous odious posts

so will you now moderate your mn tone?out of interest have any comments resonated with you?or are you sick getting jip
