Mumsnet fair.. do you do this already?

I've never been involved in rl mn activities so apologies if I'm talking about something already in place.

Have you ever considered a Mumsnet mela?

It's a type of fair, not just a meet up. So if one can imagine, there's a big hall or marquee, and, say, your regular advertisers set out stands. Plus any new ones that fancy getting involved. PLUS all of us who have an axe to grind, or a product to sell, or a charity to promote, or a public campaign etc etc etc could take a stall too. Don't you think it would be great? Tech could have a help desk , Tsarinas could have a corner and so on. There could be a small business corner -- I mean, just like mn but in 3D. And open to the public.

Is there any point to this? I think it would be great. I'd go.

i just mean mela in its sense as "fair", but I fair isn't quite right and I couldn't think of a word that was, except mela

"fair isn't quite right and I couldn't think of a word that was, except mela"

no no, you mean a Fayre. Then we could have bunting.

MamaGlee · 17/04/2010 07:07

ooh the NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD stunnas could have a stall and we'd abuse everybody for being fat pigs to try to shame them into losing weight

Maybe a confessional box for AIBU but instead of a priest, there are 50 MNers roaring "yes you effing are"

lulumama and mars on an elevated platforms, ticket machine witih a million pregnant MNers anxiously holding their number, waiting for htat golden moment when it's called and they can ask about childbirth.

A big croc and fleece amnesty skip

A stall selling NOTHING but LDC

It would be fabulous

posieparker · 17/04/2010 07:40

DaftPunk in the stocks??

LynetteScavo · 17/04/2010 07:50

Well, we'd have to wait until after the election, or GB, NC, and DC would turn up.

We could have Mr Tumble give a little show.

cocolepew · 17/04/2010 07:53

We could sell SuSoup!

GoldenSnitch · 17/04/2010 07:59

We could have an actual pushchair shed

LynetteScavo · 17/04/2010 08:04

A cake competition!

JackBauer · 17/04/2010 08:08

I'd provide security

JackBauer · 17/04/2010 08:28

I'm very good security, I've scared everyone off...

TequilaMockinBird · 17/04/2010 08:35

We need a bridge - for the trolls to sit under drinking their fruitshoots

mmrsceptic · 17/04/2010 08:35

oh lolol rofl but bugger off I was SERIOUS

ok yes i suppose I mean fayre

but it's bigger than that it's more like professional like and at the same time communal and sharing

TrinityIsAPenguin · 17/04/2010 08:37

mmrsceptic · 17/04/2010 08:38

"fleece amnesty skip"

OP posts:
cocolepew · 17/04/2010 08:41

Cod could sit at the entrance and Taser anyone who doesn't meet the S&B requirments.

Lulumaam · 17/04/2010 08:43

we could burn kitkats and other nestle prodcuts, whilst we sip our fairtrade coffee and eat homemade red velvet cupcakes.

LynetteScavo · 17/04/2010 11:01

Of course a mela, should not be confused with a melee

GentleOtter · 17/04/2010 11:05

The melee area could be for loud parenting

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 17/04/2010 11:07

That'd actually be really nice.

JUST DON'T HAVE IT IN BLOODY LONDON!!!!!!!!!!

Equally hard for everyone to get to (unless you live there already).

TrillianAstra · 17/04/2010 11:12

There could be a fashion sow of school run dresses, or are those out of favour now?

Fliight · 17/04/2010 11:13

we could have 'Pin the Website glitch on Tech'

Nevergoogle · 17/04/2010 11:13

Hexham is the middle of the UK btw.

I like the idea of us all sitting in a marquee with our laptops to communicate. Surely you don't expect us to actually have RL conversations? if we were any good at that, we wouldn't be here.

Fliight · 17/04/2010 11:14
