Oh yes! Good luck and well done to everyone!

AnnieLobeseder · 27/03/2010 16:34

I'm incredibly embarassed to be reporting that I only ran 10km instead of my promised 21km. Today was the first time in nearly 10 years of racing that I've not finished a race.

I was completely lacking in mojo, kept getting dizzy and found myself running sideways at one point! I think I'm just depressingly under-fit and over-weight at the moment.

But this was going to be my last half for a while, cos weekends are just too busy to train atm. So I was hoping to go out, if not in a blaze of glory, then at least a blaze of mediocrity instead of a blaze of embrassment! I would probably have finished if it had been a point-to-point race, but it was 4x5km laps. I HATE laps!

So sorry to let everyone down.

AnnieLobeseder · 27/03/2010 16:35

Though, thinking about it, it was 11km not 10km, cos they made us do an extra bit on the first lap to add the 1km.

popsycal · 27/03/2010 16:39

annie - that is fabulous. absolutely no reason to be embarrassed. thank you for taking part

MmeLindt · 27/03/2010 17:06

Annie
you did twice what I managed and you took part, that is the most important thing.

My legs are really aching now, my knees and my hips too.

sfxmum · 27/03/2010 17:37

Well done everybody!

I've just finished my first ever 5k run, I really can't believe I've got here after just a few weeks.
Really owe you all, I don't think I would ever have done it without the inspiration and motivation of Mumsnet

ClaudiaSchiffer · 27/03/2010 23:54

I've done it! 6K, will donate now.

Well done everyone, Annie don't be glum 10 K is pretty impressive to most of us.

popsycal · 28/03/2010 07:26

ProfYaffle · 28/03/2010 07:38

Just done my 5k, beautiful sun rise jog around the fields of south norfolk. dh also did 17k (!) yesterday.

Now we're off to dig the allotment for a couple of hours. I really have no idea why I'm not a size 8 (No-one look at last night's empty pizza box .....)

popsycal · 28/03/2010 10:29

Job done - if in a slightly different way than I had envisaged

Discovered ipod wasn't working and only had time for a quick charge so decided to do a 4.65m there and backroute which is a good job as it stopped working at around 10k. And that is not all that stopped working. My hip and knee joint of my left leg started really hurting. I know I land heavier on my left leg and have a feeling I may be due some new trainers. However, I was forced to run/walk/run miles seven and eight as I would not finish otherwise. I kept think of MrT, Twink and MiniTwink and that kept me going. I tried to run as much of the last mile as possible.

So.
SLightly longer than I planned but am pleased with my 1 hour 35 minutes considering the hip/knee/strong wind against me on the second half

Hope everyone enjoys their run.

Now I amoff for a shower and to ponder my response to an article I read earlier about Mumsnet 'crusaders' which made me quite cross

Keep on running

Twink · 28/03/2010 12:23

I'm finished too! Got 2nd lady vet (behind a dear friend), 7th lady overall so a good morning.

Must be something in the water Popsy, my hip was agony and I just thought of MrT doing his chemo PBs, put my head down and got on with it.

Well done all!

popsycal · 28/03/2010 12:26

that's exactly what i was thinking of too twink

brilliant work too twink what us nexton the cards for you

Katz · 28/03/2010 14:33

i did it! 5km in 37min - was a walk/run combo for both DH and I so I guess we count as 10km all together.

thanks again to hulababy for having my DDs i wouldn't have made 1km without DH there too and sunday lunch was much appreciated.

MrsWednesday · 28/03/2010 16:29

I've done mine too. Beautiful day for running, managed 9.2 miles in 1 hour 26 minutes.

Well done everyone! Congrats Twink, fantastic performance.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/03/2010 16:54

Well done everyone.

I'm sort of glad it's not just me with a dodgy hip.

soyabean · 28/03/2010 18:11

Hi everyone: I ran my 10k today with a few minutes walk in the middle... Well done everyone!

fishie · 28/03/2010 20:29

HELLO! i have done my 15k.

popsy i could have written that post except it is me right leg. irritatingly i have new shoes but didn't wear them as this is the longest run i've done since being ill and they are a bit stiff (shoes as well as me).

i too thought of mr twink.

MmeLindt · 28/03/2010 20:33

I almost turned back when my hips started aching but thought of all that MrT and his family have gone through and that spurred me on to keep going. Over £1800 raised so far.

liath · 28/03/2010 20:36

That's my 5k done, complete with unplanned sprint finish when it started to bucket down!

Well done everyone, fantastic effort.

wuglet · 28/03/2010 21:00

I was down for 5k...but just did 6.94.

Am amazed - 3 months ago I struggled to run for 1 minute. So I have got something out of this too - cheers popsycal (and twink) for the inspiration.

HelenMumsnet · 28/03/2010 21:16

Evening. Just popping in to post my 5k as part of the MNHQ team - I, too, thought of your DH's chemo PBs, Twink, when I was puffing up that last hill. Kinda puts things into perspective straightaway, doesn't it?

Well done, all!

JustineMumsnet · 28/03/2010 22:27

And me - sorry only just got to computer to report back. Congrats all (it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!)

Wheelybug · 29/03/2010 15:47

Popsy - am a bit shamefaced . We got back from ski trip saturday night and then dd2 came out with chicken pox sunday morning so spent the day dashing around doing things I needed to do that I wouldn't be able to do this wk when under house arrest and didn't think about running .

I have donated but shall I do my run next weekend (or an evening before then if poss) ?? Or should i just slink of no and hang my head in shame (sorry twink and mr twink).
