So, MNHQ, bedecked in LKBennett (and Boden for the plebs) are all out stuffing pizza and Bolly, half of the posters and hangers-on are there too: what mischief shall we get up to while they're away?

Because I bet they've just left BigTech in charge. Or he/she'll be checking in every once in a while, a bit pished and lairy.

So we can DO. WHAT. WE. LIKE. while the Leaders party.

Don't know if Misdee was there, but I do know that there was not an invitation policy of inviting all the MNers behind the published 'top ten MN moments'.

policywonk · 03/03/2010 23:04

Aitch was invited but couldn't come, I think.

So you had: MNers who do paid work for MN, the haiku winners and their plus-ones (many of whom were also MNers).

Maybe not a perfect way of organising it, but MNHQ coming up with a list of posters whom they considered to be jolly important wouldn't have been great either, would it?

Maybe they should have operated some sort of saecret blackball system...

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 23:07

So, those who do work for free, were not included in the invitation policy. Get it.

eitbomh · 03/03/2010 23:07

OH! Oh I get it now , no I thought you were mucking about and saying they would out you with your namechange of "MamaGisNFI"!

Now I will have to go and look at embarassing threads and see if I can identify you. Is it the pubic waxing one?

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 23:08

hahano thaknfully n ot me!

IPlayBanjoOnMyFanjo · 03/03/2010 23:11

Errr....so what category did Cod fall into?
Methinks it was that last one you defined PolicyWonk - "MNHQ coming up with a list of posters whom they considered to be jolly important"

policywonk · 03/03/2010 23:12

Ach this is all very dog-in-the-manger. By 'work for free', do you mean 'posting'? ie what we all do, by definition? You're asking MNHQ to come up with a list of posters whom they consider to be more valuable than anyone else. How would that have been better than an open competition judged by an independent outsider?

Ponders · 03/03/2010 23:12

"Maybe they should have operated some sort of saecret blackball system..."

Maybe they did

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 23:13

No PW, I did not mean posting. We all do that. I am not paid to post, by I wish!

policywonk · 03/03/2010 23:14

Cod has done paid work for MN afaik

IPlayBanjoOnMyFanjo · 03/03/2010 23:14

But they did, didn't they PW.

Or was Cod just 'special'?

arf

IPlayBanjoOnMyFanjo · 03/03/2010 23:16

yes, Cod is MN's inbuilt spellchecker

policywonk · 03/03/2010 23:17

Well if you don't mean 'posting', what do you mean? How would you define it without raising howls of outrage? I admire hunker and tiktok a great deal, but personally I would add Franny to that list. that's the point - we would all have different lists of posters who have carved out niches and given valuable advice. The rows such a policy generated would have been never-ending.

Again - how would any of this have been better than an independently judged competition open to all members?

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 03/03/2010 23:20

I explained what I meant further down.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 23:21

I think we should have had to enter a comp

like write a haiku or summat

SpringHeeledJack · 03/03/2010 23:22

I wish they had invited Hully, though

I can only imagine the headlines

Boco · 03/03/2010 23:24

I've done paid work for mn. Not keen on being a dog in a manger though. Unless I can be one with MamaG.

MamaG i think I spotted your thread - was it the blue waffle one?

CaptainNancy · 03/03/2010 23:25

but who is hully?

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 23:26

haha no it wasn't, it was another one

not rlated to waffles at all

eitbomh · 03/03/2010 23:26

Oh stop it with the blue waffle, I am trying not to google it. Is it akin to dragon butter?

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 23:26

No Policy by work for free we mean people that MNHQ have employed on a voluntary basis to work for them. Not post on threads, work.

policywonk · 03/03/2010 23:27

Yes boco, I don't understand why you weren't invited. And the uninviting of sophable was grim, obviously.

MamaGisNFI · 03/03/2010 23:27

no e it's fine, just google it and put yourself out of your misery

policywonk · 03/03/2010 23:28

Oh, I don't know about that LeDodgy - possibly before my time. Do you mean mods?

Ledodgy · 03/03/2010 23:29

Can I come in the manger too? I didn't expect to be invited but am indignant on the behalf of those who should have. I also want to share a manger with Boco and mamaG.
