JustineMumsnet · 13/01/2010 16:49

As some of you may know, this is our tenth year in existence and we thought it would be nice to put together a list of the top ten MN moments during those ten years - obviously not all of you are as old in the tooth as me but everyone's thoughts welcome.

So by way of a starter for ten here and distinctly off the top of my head (so don't shout if I've missed you out!) are some of our most memorable moments/mn events...

Feel free to violently disagree add your own - am sure, being so decrepit we've forgotten loads.

In no particular order...

Christening of SWMNBN and MP's apology for rockets gag
Mile 4 Maude
First live birth
Christmas appeals generally
Biscuitgate
bottom butter
tim dowling and wife - hammering it out on MN
David Cameron's massive panniers
AIBU generally
Pirate sex
Misdee and Peter and the heart transplant
Is that UCM?

CountessDracula's cube of poo (Wed 14-Jun-06 17:04:58) gets my vote.

am slightly (shock] that DS and I have made a few peoples top ten moments, though it was my top ten moment of the last 10 years

Having MN share my joy defintely made teh experience even more special and I thank you all for that.

My other top moments (not surprigingly):

Peters transplant
MN secret Santa each year
Gggglimpopo family losing Maude followed by Mile for Maude
Mr OJ and Mr MartianBishop and Mr YorkieGirl dying. I know there have been otehrs but they are the ones that touched me.
Expats last pregnancy (don't know why!)

The only JF thread I can find that hasn't been deleted is MNHQ's announcement about the JF threads being deleted

SkipToMyLou · 14/01/2010 15:01

Just reading the Cube of Poo thread, there are more gems in that thread - priceless !

SimpleAsABC · 14/01/2010 15:06

Jacqueline Wilson acknowledging my post on her web chat.

I'm quite young (22) and was a mahoooosive fan when I was younger and still think shes fab. So that was great!

MollyRoger · 14/01/2010 15:56

I do think Franny's 10/10 club has to be one of the longest running threads and deserves a merit for pissing off the largest amount of people with pun-tastic thread titles for around two years (plus the beautiful, fruitiful bitches who frequent it)

slug · 14/01/2010 16:17

Switching gas suppliers

Bohemian Rhaposdy

There was one about daft things toddlers do. I rememver snorting tea out of my nose at the description of a crawling baby caught in the cat flap.

Mad tablecloth woman

The (nonexistant) Sherhaze Goldmith webchat

emkana · 14/01/2010 16:23

I was going to mention that I think I had the longest birth announcement thread ever in 2006 when ds was born after a nailbitingly worriful pregnancy, but havning read OP now I realize that it will def not qualify for top 10, even though it was what will always make me think fondly of MN

slug · 14/01/2010 16:24

this one

claricebean · 14/01/2010 16:32

I can't remember the exact details, but I think it was someone's MIL calling a family member's nazi memorabilia helmet 'jaunty'. Tears of laughter.

crumpet · 14/01/2010 16:43

blimey - it is a shock to see that Judge Flounce was 5 years ago.

HeadlessLadyH · 14/01/2010 16:58

Am almost glad I wasn't a MNetter in 2005 as that JF thread is damn interesting. I'd have less of a life than I do now.

Dumbledoresgirl · 14/01/2010 17:13

God I have just wasted half an hour reading that JF thread. And I was there at the time so have no reason to read it now!

Wasn't MN funny back then? Whole threads with familiar names on it, and everyone so trusting of anonymous posters.

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 14/01/2010 17:29

I know we're not allowed supposed to say it, but I agree with you DG. I'm not such an oldie as you but reading some of these old threads, ones I was on at the time, does make me feel a leetel bit nostalgic. I keep seeing names and wondering what happened to those posters.

Ah me.

TurnYourFrownUpsideDown · 14/01/2010 17:41

I know bibbity

sammac · 14/01/2010 17:54

I remember the one where people were waving to a family on all the train platforms travelling through Scotland and England. On the tip of my tongue who it was...began with a m...

DelGirl · 14/01/2010 18:02

wasn't Miaou was it? I thought it was Bonkerz for some reason?

FrannyandZooey · 14/01/2010 18:30

well i liked 100 and Boco doing HTT when cod was away very much indeed, in fact all the HTT threads were good

and the pram / dog / hun thread which got deleted, was absolutely priceless

but i do find these things are rarely as funny after the event
you usually have to be there as it unfolds to really find it marvellous
often they just seem a bit juvenile afterwards (or is that just chagrin that you weren't personally there being funny?)

it's good to see people remember ds's clay cock! we still have it in a place of safety, and dp and i take it out and dance round it occasionally

Just read -
LiegeAndLief saves mum & baby with advice on pre eclampisa symptoms

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/440848-omg-heartburn-from-hell-advice-please and in tears. I wonder how they are now.

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 14/01/2010 18:36

I heard about Misdee and Peter's thread where lots of mumsnetters stayed up all night on here to support her through the wait. I would love to read that.

misdee · 14/01/2010 18:45

i think that thread was in chat
