Missing pages - can YOU help us track them down?

So, ever since BigTech made his new releases (which incidentally still have a few wee glitches to sort, before you shout) we've noticed that folks are clicking less on all the Talk topic home pages eg this one. In fact you are collectively clicking on those roughly half as much as you used to and we're completely stymied as to why. Don't spose any bright spark out there has any ideas about what might have changed?

(There's a pack of Christmas cards (or three) by way of reward for anyone whose information leads to the discovery of our lost pages...)

lol @ soupy and morningpaper, "under your skirts"?

slut.

Actually here's a thought - when you do a search, the search results now give you a page for every reply to a post - so for example, if you search for the word 'bum' with unlimited dates you will find that every thread that has been recent has multiple listings for each reply whereas the topic pages get one. Not that there is a bum topic - although for a Friday it might be good

ARRRGH brain dead tonight, meant to say:

It would seem to me that if your readership appears to be falling and is not reflected in decreased registrations and usage of the site general it is a miscalculation problem rather than a usage issue.

But look. Set up a topic for 'artichokes' and I'll go hit it 100 times and then you can see whether you get 100 hits.

THEN I will post a thread in the topic and hit that 100 times and see how many hits you have from that.

reallywoundup · 16/11/2009 22:47

its still too small ! can't we have normal sized text for those of us who are approaching old age a little short sighted

JustineMumsnet · 16/11/2009 22:55

whomovedmychocolate I think you might be on to something with search - if you click on topic from search results page you get a talk topic number - rather than name - hmm will check that out with Techs...

Oh and we're going to offer a show all messages option in case you're logged out btw - someone suggested that. But will take a couple of weeks...

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 16/11/2009 23:02

Maybe it's just me. Everything suddenly seems closer together and smaller. I think I need to go to bed.

JustineMumsnet · 16/11/2009 23:06

So I see Maliboo! Erm she'll be gawn by end of month and we've already told the BBC lot what you think of them - so hopefully they won't ever think of sending them our way again is all I can say.

nannynick · 16/11/2009 23:35

Another Google fan here...

But Google may be part of the problem actually... as I use Google Chrome and it remembers which tabs I last closed, so when reopening the browser, I'm a click away from going back to where I was, rather than navigating through the site.

Is Google Analytics showing any change in percentage of users of particular browsers... maybe more people have realised they don't need to use IE
