How will the proposed private rooms work?

In the light of the DM stuff, I imagine MNHQ will be looking to get the private rooms sorted out quickly. So I wondered how they would run? Will it be a case of a single user opening a room and then inviting people to join them? Or will it be possible to request an invite?

How will you avoid narnia type incidents?

Will there be an initiation?

And a secret handshake?

I was around for narniagate and even posted on some of the narnia threads. can't remember how I got in though .

With the media interest in MN, it wouldn't surprise me if the whole site fragmented somewhat into smaller cliques within the private rooms.

Here's a thought, people could have 'clinic' rooms - tiktok and hunker could have their own bfeeding room, aitch could have a blw one etc! So you could visit people in their rooms!!! (but only if they let you in!)

hocuspontas, I'm sure it's not just areas visible to registered users, I think it's thinking for smaller groups (but could be wrong on that).

weren't the narnia threads deleted threads that people somehow found that if they'd posted on them they could continue to do so?

I vaguely remember the whole incident, but was not party to what was written on the threads.. but iirc it got very bitchy as people were quoting msn conversations about other posters and people left over it etc.

so am i right in thinking there will now be a facility that allows us to talk in proivate rooms with people we invite in?

so it's gonna be all quichey and no one will ever speak to me again? there will never be any decent debates? the main boards will be dead and everyone will be off whispering in corners?
