I'm sorry to do this, I'm sure if I read 2000+ posts I would understand but please could someone explain the DM business to me

Because I thought the DM was a paper we loved to post links to in order to take the piss at its general dreadfulness, particularly the way its editor hates women.

And now it seems there is some sort of tie in? Do they not understand irony?

Is that what is going on? And if so, who thought this was a good idea?

Ah Jumente... can't you even tell me?
Go on... whisper it... I won't tell anyone

How come you're back to Jumente, anyway? (tis I, who twigged you prev )

blueshoes · 16/08/2009 15:57

ahola, brilliant name! Nearly wet myself there.

shootfromthehip · 16/08/2009 16:03

Is this whole thing a wind-up? It's driving me nuts that I don't know who you are talking about. AArghhhh. It's like one of those 90's optical illusions- I could never bloody see them either.

LilyOfTheMountain · 16/08/2009 16:25

Rafi

they would indeed find another PC

but heck it's better IMBHO than lying down and taking it

Not saying MNHQ is doing that BTW, suspect there'smore hair pulling going on behind doors than we know, but taht's how I'd play it if it were me in their shoes

BadgersArse · 16/08/2009 16:35

how rude to describe it a a " bunting business"

you know nothing baout it nad how rude to all the eofrrt Justine puts in spec when the ford business was going on

i do think you should apologise for that

abra1d · 16/08/2009 16:44

I hope Justine's managed to get away on hols and leave all this behind.

Jumente · 16/08/2009 18:14

Oh hello Ahola I know who you are now, well I fancied this one again...I like myself with this French outfit on.

Well if you really want to know CAT me - although I don't think the name I have is current either...stopped posting under this name maybe last autumn. So not much interest to anyone really! plus not knowing the woman behind all this furore I don't want to judge her without a proper argument conversation, it just intrigues me really...

FuckOffDailyMail · 16/08/2009 21:13

Is the name you are thinking of a fruity one, Jumente?

LilyOfTheMountain · 16/08/2009 21:14

Clue

it aint Peachy

FuckOffDailyMail · 16/08/2009 21:16

more like a fruit that the EU wanted to straighten?

Jumente · 16/08/2009 21:19

er, no...not really!

though you have got me thinking now...

Jumente · 16/08/2009 21:19

Notabanana is innocent btw. I know that much

Jumente · 17/08/2009 08:26

I have spent several short interludes overnight thinking on your suggestion and yes, I think you are right...oh dear!

KiwiPanda · 19/08/2009 19:17

I've only belatedly cottoned onto what's going on with the DM. I'm truly appalled, though why I should be by any of the practices of that pile of shite I don't know. I am a journalist and there is no effing WAY I would do this, regardless of legal issues it's just absolutely f*ing appalling practice. My work would be LIVID with me, rightly so, if I did this. It goes against every principle.. oh FFS what am I saying? at the very idea that I should imply the DM HAS any sodding principles. Let alone a style guide and/or code of practice.

[goes away to mutter repeated curses at DM]

Spidermama · 19/08/2009 19:28

Awww why aren't we allowed to know the MN name of the DM journo?

It seems only fair to me.

navyeyelasH · 19/08/2009 20:39

the name is on this thread within a sentence and it means something in another language.

ahola · 19/08/2009 23:23

still no idea spider?

navyeyelasH · 19/08/2009 23:57
Grin
Spidermama · 21/08/2009 15:23

Yup. With you.

Horton · 23/08/2009 19:05

I think I might be being very thick. Is the new name also a word in another language? I have worked out the old name finally (the huge glass of wine I had with dinner isn't helping). I'd be very grateful to know the newer name/s as I really don't want to find myself in conversation with this woman (and also because I am nosy). I think it's a really peculiar way to have behaved and am now wondering if I've talked to her before. I'd be very upset to find myself in print in this way and feel really sorry for those who have and who don't like it either.
