I'm sorry to do this, I'm sure if I read 2000+ posts I would understand but please could someone explain the DM business to me

Because I thought the DM was a paper we loved to post links to in order to take the piss at its general dreadfulness, particularly the way its editor hates women.

And now it seems there is some sort of tie in? Do they not understand irony?

Is that what is going on? And if so, who thought this was a good idea?

Totally agree Donnie. Laughable and repulsive thread.

Aitchiswaitingforalegalopinion · 16/08/2009 08:32

whatever, georgimama. so you were rude, on purpose, and yet you object to being told that there's no need for it. there was no need for it, you acknowledge that. so what's your problem exactly? (other than the fact that you can't let a single thing lie from me?)

donnie · 16/08/2009 08:33

and now she is making cash off the backs of other people's - specifically women's - problems. And not even bothering to talk to them, just filching their own comments verbatim, without their permission. I call that pimping.

Donnie...I think it's hideous, and doesn't pass for 'journalism' in my book.

Makes me very angry.

Jumente · 16/08/2009 08:41

It's like being paid to copy and paste

what's the point of that?

ssd · 16/08/2009 08:47

so are we not allowed to know the MN names of the journalist on here?

is that why there are so many "message deleted" further up this thread?

christ, its like the secret service on here sometimes

Jumente · 16/08/2009 08:51

Apparently not SSD I believe it would be construed as 'outing'

don't want to lower ourselves, now do we

donnie · 16/08/2009 08:52

ssd if you search on the thread I mentioned you will get it. Not sure of her most recent name but she will have changed it now anyway.

cornsillk · 16/08/2009 08:53

Do you think someone has been sat up all night with a finger on the delete button?

Jumente · 16/08/2009 08:54

Not sure of the right thing here...surely if we're being misquoted, splashed all over some rag we don't approve of etc etc without our specific consent

but then, we post here knowing it can be lifted

NOT for people to make money from though, which in turn funds their dubious premise for a newspaper

I really do have strong feelings about this. I don't mind being quoted if it isn't a profit making activity. Or by HQ in order to fund this board. But the ferking DM is pushing it.

ssd · 16/08/2009 08:54

donnie, you know what I began to search but I lost the will to live.....

oh well guess it doesn't matter in the scheme of things...

cornsillk · 16/08/2009 09:16

ssd start a nice style thread instead. I'm bored.

ssd · 16/08/2009 09:18

whats style?

cornsillk · 16/08/2009 09:19

You tease ssd - I just know you're sat there in a Boden dressing gown.

ssd · 16/08/2009 09:24
Grin
cornsillk · 16/08/2009 09:26

I knew it...

blueshoes · 16/08/2009 10:20

Wonder if mn will pick up on your new name and delete too!

They must be working overtime at mntowers tp protect the privacy of this mn journo who makes a living off the details of our private lives.

Why don't they just ban her? That wouldn't stop her lurking and cutting/pasting (although a nice stern letter from MN's lawyers should) but at least then there would be no fear that she was starting or manipulating threads.

RafiToreTheDMUpForCatLitter · 16/08/2009 10:46

How realistic is that though? You ban someone's name, they can re-register under a new one. You ban someone's IP address, they use another machine.

blueshoes · 16/08/2009 10:51

Rafi, it is both the new And old name that mn are deleting, insofar as either of them are mentioned in a context linking them to the DM articles.

It is the link to the DM articles that is key, not when those names of referred to on a standalone basis.

Anyone know the new name?

RafiToreTheDMUpForCatLitter · 16/08/2009 11:01

Thanks blueshoes, I hadn't realised that.

Wish I did know the new name...

DailyMailmademechangemyname · 16/08/2009 11:18

Me too

Aitchiswaitingforalegalopinion · 16/08/2009 11:28

no, blueshoes is wrong. afaia no one's posted the new name, they're deleting the old one.
