CP

cerebral palsy or chemical pregnancy, depending on the context

as copied from mn

why oh why do people use if for chicken pox.

i know you do 2shoes, and you know i don;t

but no-one is using cp as an abbrviation to annoy you or denigrate those who have it

sorry for asking.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 12/05/2009 17:29

All of this 'posting with caution' is getting out of hand.

So can we no longer have 'dog' in a thread title because someone on mumsnet has a fear of dogs?

FlappytheBat · 12/05/2009 17:29

As long as Chicken Pox has been mentioned in the thread title, then people will know that when CP is seen, then it is chicken pox that is being referred to.

People could refer to it as The Pox, but then people might think that it could be small pox, monkey pox etc.

Abbreviations are not mutually exclusive.

Greensneeze · 12/05/2009 17:30

Oh not "have you got a child with CP"

I've got a child with AS but I wouldn't freak out if somebody with an Anna Schultz handbag abbreviated it on a website for heavens' sake!

Lulumama · 12/05/2009 17:31

i am far more offended by the use of the c word , but i accept people posting on MN are adults and don't always want to or appreciate they have to moderate every word they type

if people were using other more offensive words, i would be right behind you, but CP as an abbreviation is not offensive, but i am sorry it annoys you

daftpunk · 12/05/2009 17:32

you're being waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too touchy over this 2shoes...

2shoes · 12/05/2009 17:33

wannaBe sorry we are lazy we do use CP in rl as well

TheDevilWearsPrimark no idea what you are on about
greensneeze you made me lol.
as I did say i started this thread last friday night at 10.39, I posted got answered and forgot about it tbh.

Lulumama · 12/05/2009 17:36

so why have you posted to me like our paths have never crossed before on MN, 2shoes??

am a bit baffled

pagwatch · 12/05/2009 17:38

Ah but greenie I would freak out if someone posted that their child had Anna Schulz accesories or small leather goods - totally over the top and she tends to be a bit obvious in the embelishment department .

It always makes me laugh that pepole use so many abreviations anyway when mostly we take the time to put "will you please fuck the fuck off" in longhand

2shoes · 12/05/2009 17:40

who is Anna Schulz? does she post on here?

OP posts:
daftpunk · 12/05/2009 17:40

"wypftfo"....not quite as meaningful is it?

foxinsocks · 12/05/2009 17:41

I don't like MS for morning sickness. Always makes me think of Multiple Sclerosis.

My name is Juliet Churchill and it really pisses me off when I see JC used as an abreviation for Jesus Christ tbh.

foxinsocks · 12/05/2009 17:46

have never seen anyone refer to you as MS so I think you are safe!

I just automatically read 'I am suffering from such horrendous MS' and think poor souls with their bad Multiple Sclerosis.

But I realise that is my reading of it

BernardsCat · 12/05/2009 17:46

LOLOL

2shoes · 12/05/2009 17:46

sorry unless I missed it I havn't used the word offensive or offended. I just asked "why oh why do people use if for chicken pox."
