Will there be a thread to discuss nominations, or will it all be secret through email?

It must be a hard task doing the judging.
It must be bloody harder than the Christmas appeal, so I dont envy you this task. A whole holiday stands to gain for one lucky winner, wow....

But, what criteria do you use to judge? If I were to put myself somebody forward, so to speak....

What I really would like to ask is:

???? why? What the fuck are you thinking?

fryalot · 23/04/2009 10:56

you know what, you're all right.

So just give the prize to me and we'll have done with it

Oliveoil · 23/04/2009 13:22

fgs you bunch of moaning old gits

don't enter if you don't agree with it

personally I think it will undoubtedly go tits up and I will hear the crocodile tears falling from here but really, how else is the site to make money etc (as Justine said)

put it to a vote - mum competition or ads for salt and doom burgers

What's the score then?

I nominated someone and I want to know!

Or was it all announced when I was asleep sometime?

HelenMumsnet · 06/05/2009 20:56

Hassled, I'm afraid I'm not quite sure.

But I know a woman who will be - and I'll ask her in the morning.

Hassled · 06/05/2009 20:57

Thanks

whinegums · 12/05/2009 13:52

Well??! Have I missed the announcement - who won?

JustineMumsnet · 12/05/2009 14:23

Well... OliviaMumsnet is on it but she doesn't work today, so... manana (with a little squiggle above the "n") I presume.

(We'll give her a prod).

OliviaMumsnet · 12/05/2009 14:25

Will post more tomorrow.

QuintessentialShadows · 12/05/2009 14:27

I for one will wait eagerly, to see if I am off on holiday soon.

JustineMumsnet · 12/05/2009 14:27

Blimey she's here on her DAY OFF - get back to your baby woman.

(mañana ta-dah!)

OliviaMumsnet · 13/05/2009 21:57

Just waiting for a couple of things to be confirmed but watch this space

MoatCleaner · 14/05/2009 00:18

nappyaddict · 14/05/2009 02:19

How have I only just heard about this!

QuintessentialShadows · 14/05/2009 21:37

Any news?

ProstetnicVogonJeltz · 14/05/2009 21:40

I won. Hurrah. I'm the best.

treedelivery · 14/05/2009 21:54

Could mn be a registered charity? I have no real idea what this involves, but I'd be happy to subscribe donate an amount each month. As a charity, people could opt in or out. Lots would opt in I'm sure. Sure I'm sure.

Might be a way of getting around the subscription debate.

Or..how about 3 threads for free, then a subscription fee? That would enable 2am desperate parents to get active here without putting up barriers to them in their dark hours, but would also allow for a regular source of income from people like me. I have no problems paying to use mn as I find it to be a hoot wealth of information and support.

Cammelia · 15/05/2009 09:06

treedelivery, quite a few of us did used to pay a (v. small in my case) voluntary subscription - in the days before m/net attracted so much advertising.

treedelivery · 15/05/2009 11:45

Thanks Camelia. Newbie here! Why did the towers get shut of the subscription?

If funds are needed, what about the 3 free postings idea?

whinegums · 18/05/2009 10:36

Ahem ahem

MmeJaffaB · 18/05/2009 12:48

I'm a bit confused.... (tis easily done though)

This is just a bit of fun surely? MN are not saying that "our mum of the year" is THE best Mum in the world or better than any of the rest of us. We are all great, we are! We all have our own troubles, problems, joys and happiness each is individual to each but there is no harm in saying do you know what? you, in "our" eyes are doing a great job and you deserve something for yourself.

It's not about a sob story, to me it's about someone who's dedication to their life, family, children, friends and of course mumsnet is something I aspire to.
