Is there a "hide/block poster" option?

Maybe I'm being a bit dim, but I can't see it. pl. could you point me in the direction if it exists?

If not, wouldn't this be a good idea? Lots of other forums have this function - it's no biggie, it is not as if the other poster knows that you have hidden them.

Have MNHQ looked into this and already dismissed it?

I would not like this. I like to see the twats posts so I can feel better smug about myself.

Particularly the racist scumbags - loove it when they post so I can swear loudly at the computer - very cathartic.

BennyAndSwoon · 15/02/2009 13:48

That's better

MN is all wise and reasonable again

SoupDragon · 15/02/2009 13:49

LadyOfWaffle · 15/02/2009 13:49

Anyone else feeling paranoid??

SoupDragon · 15/02/2009 13:50

Please don't let mine be the last post? Someone else post, please??

I cannot remembers posters' names at the best of times, so I never remember who's been nice or who's been nasty. I just take each post as it comes and not considering that person's previous posting history.

God I'm rambling.....

daftpunk · 15/02/2009 13:51

op; crazy idea....sorry.

fattiemumma · 15/02/2009 13:52

It's a really common function on message boards - surprised to see that it seems so contentious here.

I shall away with my fucking stupid ideas...

Coldtits · 15/02/2009 14:12

there's a science fiction story about a child who was raised alone, by a robot, and he meets another child who was raised alone, by a robot.

They kill each other because neither of them has ever had to deal with a conflicting view or a need that isn't their own.

Coldtits · 15/02/2009 14:12

SD, she did , 12 minutes ago!

Simplysally · 15/02/2009 14:17

I belong to a couple of other sites, one of them Facebook. On FB you can block someone and you'll vanish completely to them so it looks as though you have suspended your account.

The other site which is a chat site similar in layout to this one, you can block someone from contacting you which equally stops you from contacting them (I pointed out to them it was frustrating that someone could block you and still email you, so they tweaked it) but you can still see them on the site/read their profile. You just can't contact anyone whose blocked you and vice versa.

I rather like the no-block function as it could be used to bully sometimes by someone writing a contentious email or CAT then blocking so they can't reply. This stops all that.

FairLadyRantALot · 15/02/2009 14:25

Simply...Facebook is different though...isn't it?

As for just enabling the direct contact....well....I suppose as I don't have cat...it would not make any difference to me...
as long as you can't block people in the way that you can't see them/they see you on threads...because well...I think it would make rather confused reading material then, lol

oggsdog · 15/02/2009 14:28

Coldtits, how did they kill each other?

Wouldn't they have had to have done it simultaneously? Did they have a countdown?

Simplysally · 15/02/2009 14:31

Anything that coudl dissect the threads is a poor idea. Imagine only being able to see your own responses to a thread . At least you'd never get dissent.

FairLadyRantALot · 15/02/2009 14:36

lol Simply...indeed.......you's been in your own virtual reality....

MerryPonymum · 15/02/2009 14:39

It just gives people an excuse to stamp foot petulantly and sweep off in high dudgeon, having played what they think is the trump card - puts MeanOlePoster on Ignore

Like MeanOlePoster will care! And anyway I bet FeelingGotAtPoster sneaks back for a look after the red mists of rage clear away.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 15/02/2009 14:43

Oh, no thanks. That would be no fun. Far more satisfying, if someone is being horrid to you, to read all their posts and thank them for the free publicity they are giving you, or give the abuse marks out of ten or something.
