Who agrees that the emoticons on this site are crap?

The site is good but the emoticons are absolute crap, surely they can do better?

They should use the ones from the MSN groups they are far superior to these.

I love the simple but effective emoticons here. My personal favourites are and nothing says "for gods sake you are SO wrong" like .

thumbwitch · 03/02/2009 17:05

oh yes, better. But only just. Having half your head and bod lopped off with samurai swords isn't my definition of nice, Mystery!!

mysterymoniker · 03/02/2009 17:09

harrumph

ShowOfHands · 03/02/2009 17:12

I think the emoticons on here are wonderfully expressive. You see the uninitiated look at and are uninvigorated. Used successfully I suggest that has the power to verbally castrate. A well appointed is the passive aggressive's weapon of choice.

Words are lovely.

[slattern]
[befuddled]
[inebriated]
[melancholic]

It just drips off your tongue.

cyteen · 03/02/2009 17:14

plus there's the joy of the occasional Gin or [grim].

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 03/02/2009 17:29

or [groin] or [wank]

who was it who was queen of comedy porn typos? someone used to do it all the time!

Gunnerbean · 03/02/2009 21:04

Psychomum I'm only saying what I think, which I'm perfectly entitled to do as far as I'm aware.

I'm not saying I don't enjoy this site, I just don't particularly like the emoticons here.

So why don't you "feck off" yourself? Or "feck off" this thread if you think it's as pointless as you quite clearly do?

SoupDragon · 03/02/2009 21:13

Actually, I can see a use for this one.

Ans possibly this.

Words are far more eloquent though, don't you think?

Squirdle · 03/02/2009 21:33

Soupy, the second one is fab!! We need that one!!

JustineMumsnet · 04/02/2009 11:46

Confused emoticon is designed and on it's way by the way... but there's a few things ahead of it on the list. Shall I ask BigTech to give you a preview?

SauerKraut · 04/02/2009 11:48

Please, please, no vomit emoticon. A lot of emetophobes would be scared off...

JustineMumsnet · 04/02/2009 11:51

Yes I think everyone agreed no vomit emoticon for that very reason last time it was brought up (no pun intended!) SauerKraut

ContainsMildPeril · 04/02/2009 12:08

No matter what the repentance is if i put a in it it looks as if i'm being sarcastic.

.

ContainsMildPeril · 04/02/2009 12:09

Sorry - that was supposed to say sentence LOL!

broguemum · 04/02/2009 12:51

can we have a sleep deprived emoticon please? with mad staring eyes? It would serve as a caveat on all my posts at the moment.... Thank you..

Tinker · 04/02/2009 13:01

raisinggrrrl's one is very funny [laugh out loud emoticon]

But no, less is more here.

PuppyMonkey · 04/02/2009 13:06

I think leave it as it is.... you can have too much of a good thing.

PlumBumMum · 04/02/2009 13:07

a light bulb one would be good

fryalot · 04/02/2009 13:16

you know what... they are crap

But they're our crap and we love them.

leave 'em alone

BigTech · 05/02/2009 10:13

Good Morning lovely Mumsnetters,

Here is your preview of the confused smilie...

Enjoy!!

thumbwitch · 05/02/2009 10:51

not bad, BigTech, not bad - now what about the [ewww] one?

thumbwitch · 05/02/2009 10:52

it doesn''t have to be vomitous (understand the emetophobes pov entirely) but just a screwed up disgusted face.

teafortwo · 05/02/2009 11:20

Often I am overwhelmed by mners inner strength! I would love a 'strength' emotion bigtech!

Oggsdog · 05/02/2009 11:29

I actually used the [conf] emoticon here on mn, back in Jan. [smug]

I actually think the msn emoticons are crap/blousy/in-your-face awful.

Ours are very refined and understated and I like them that way.

is inspired... and useful in oh so many situations.
