but I would be grateful if you could tell me that you have at least given serious consideration to banning the posters who were harrassing her.

Thank you.

gotta say - what a nice person rev is, becuase i don't give in to bullies.

pmsl @ tag 'moldy raid'

Firepile · 21/01/2009 00:08

Not just you, Nantucket. I have to say that the same sorts of thoughts occured to me.

HerIllustriousEminenceOnebat · 21/01/2009 00:09

I don't think lots of others do agree with that, though, Justine. Not on this thread, anyway, and certainlynot about Revjustabout.

And wrt the timing of the announcement - it's splitting hairs. You didn't support her, and that's the only issue, I think.

combustiblelemon · 21/01/2009 00:12

Justine-

Cold, cold, frostbite for 4 leading musicians, swearing in with word stumbling, good speech about how times are hard but we will prevail with the values of our founding fathers, as a beacon of democracy, to retake our position as world leader etc., shit poem, good speech by civil rights veteran pastor. And Areatha(sp) sang.

Firepile · 21/01/2009 00:15

Justine, I'm sorry to keep banging on about this, but it really looks as though you are blaming the Rev for making the announcement at an "inconvenient" time for MNHQ from a PR pov.

The Rev's post certainly suggests that she was bounced into accepting that she should be the only person on mumsnet to have her name vetted by MNHQ.

The majority of people who have expressed a view on this thread think that she should be allowed to keep her name. Why are you saying that "lots of others agree with" MNHQ's line in the face of precisley no evidnce that this is the case?

MrJustAbout · 21/01/2009 00:18

MNHQ had no choice but to check credentials because of the accusations made. Having checked the accusations and found no basis, they then had to say that this. Saying this was close to saying she's the real deal - which was too close for MNHQ to an endorsement. That separated her from the large number of other people who profess training or expertise in some area or other.

The bullying lead to a situation in which MNHQ didn't feel there was an alternative to the name change.

Regardless of whether the announcement was made at a convenient time or not, I don't believe that this was a situation that justabout caused. Ultimately, the bullying led to the namechange, and it's a bit disingenious to lay blame at the innocent party.

I don't think it's warranted that MNHQ gets a kicking over this, but if gets a kicking I'd prefer it not be my wife (again). Please?

bundle · 21/01/2009 00:18

firepile, justine has explained her reasons, even if you don't agree with them, surely you can understand them? and that she does, after all, have the last word

MrJustAbout · 21/01/2009 00:20

Should have proofread that:

I would also like to know if there is a personal or business relationship between any of the main MN players and PPH/Enid and their families or close associates. It really would help to be very open about this as I am struggling to understand this gentle approach to some rather difficult characters.

(My guess is that you do genuinely have a gentle approach to some rather difficult characters. My hope is also that you can confirm there are no such personal or business connections which are causing the apparent bias noted by other posters.)

Tortington · 21/01/2009 00:30

its all about connections innit.

wait til i'm well connected.... yeah, i will spend my time making reverends change their name..... yeah!

Firepile · 21/01/2009 00:31

Bundle, not sure why I am the only objector to be singled out here.

Justine has "explained" the decision.

Many posters have said that they think the rationale makes no sense, and asked that MNHQ reconsider. And I was posing a specific question about something that Justine asserted, with - as far as I can see - no evidence to back it up.

Or are we supposed to just say that's fine, MNHQ - back the bullies. Lots of us do not wish to be complicit in a process that penalises a wise and witty contributor at the behest of posters spreading poison and false allegations.

MrJustAbout · 21/01/2009 00:32

What, from TheReverentCustardo to The Archbishop of Custardo?

catinthehat1 · 21/01/2009 00:33

Well, it's a respectable (and respectful) question,so let's see what the answer is.

TheMNoldieWhisperer · 21/01/2009 00:34

They are considering it a jolly good win.

combustiblelemon · 21/01/2009 00:35

My, that's a lovely spoon you have there.

JustineMumsnet · 21/01/2009 00:43

PrincessPeaHead is MN's chief royalty adviser
Enid has a working brief on Malory Towers plot lines.

Erm, no - never met em, never spoken to them. Might have deleted em once in a while.

Sorry you're so suspicious. I think this is to some extent a reflection of how much of a divide has grown between the two sides (moldies v mnet). No one who saw the Moldies posts for years honestly would think this badly of the Moldies as a group. Back me up on this other oldie non-moldie Mnetters please? They were a nice enough bunch.

Ok what happened on the Gaza thread wasn't nice but we had a few emails too and their concerns were genuine - I have it on v good authority - completely and utterly groundless of course, but genuine.

It would actually be nice if one or two of the ones who went public could manage a sorry to Revjustabout.

bundle · 21/01/2009 00:53

firepile, do you have a persecution complex?

I was simply responding to your question

(justine are you watchign the bbc news channel- nice summary of obama to rhapsody in blue)

bundle · 21/01/2009 00:56

sorry for double post

justine doesn't have to explain the minute elements of MNHQ convos behind their decision making to you/me/anyone, surely? she is trying to be fair

Firepile · 21/01/2009 00:56

So, lots of emails appear with MNHQ at about the same time as three posters launch a concerted (public) savaging on the Rev.

Is it just me that thinks that this smacks of a campaign against her?

I am still struggling to understand why she has inspired such a negative response, or even "concerns" - her postings have been consistently courteous and honest as far as I can see.

Quattrocento · 21/01/2009 00:59

Hope this hasn't damaged the mn experience for you Justabout - sorry about the unpleasantness

bundle · 21/01/2009 00:59

firepile the decision has been explained, if you don't like it, tough

as for being courteous, I seem to remember a number of her posts containing f**k, directed towards other posters

Firepile · 21/01/2009 01:01

No persecution complex, Bundle - just curious as to why you asked me the direct question when I am not the only poster to be asking questions of MNHQ (though I may be the only one still up).

I am struggling to understand what is going on. It seems extraordinarily unfair. And my sense is thatI am not the only person who thinks that.

MrJustAbout · 21/01/2009 01:01

Quattro - MrJustAbout here; I'll pass the message on.
