MNHQ do your advertisers know what happens here at night? Not very advertiser-friendly is it? The tabloids will be picking this up one day.

AIBU to make my DH lick my arse while I shart straight into his mouth and he swallows every drop

If I have to read that then so do you.

Do you want screenshots? I mean, they’ve already been accepted by whoever or whatever is checking them, so I can put them here, yes?

So, at what point are your advertisers going to cancel their adverts with you and start advertising on a porn site which is more family friendly than here?

I believe this is the second or third night in a row? And you don’t even pay people to monitor this?

Pinned

Hi all. We’ve got to the bottom of what happened here.

Our image moderation systems worked as they should, but there was a problem with GIFs pulled directly from GIPHY. We introduced GIFs in 2023 and haven’t had any issues until last night, when someone discovered that the library contains some fairly risqué material and deliberately used it to cause trouble.

To be clear, the GIFs we’ve seen didn’t contain nudity or depict sexual activity, but they were obviously inappropriate for the discussions in which they were posted.

We’ve now placed tighter restrictions on GIPHY content. That may mean the occasional perfectly innocent GIF gets caught too, but our priority is to make sure conversations aren’t derailed by this kind of nonsense.

Thanks to everyone who raised the issue.

It's happening again even though the weirdo/bot got banned the other night,

MNHQ are banning but it's like whack a mole on acid.

Opus3 · 12/08/2026 01:41

They need better moderation. But they refuse to pay for it.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 12/08/2026 01:41

How did this get through your filters?

Really disgusting, so many of them appearing tonight. Yuck.

They don’t take responsibility for anything, then it’s all ‘ooohhh but do report things to us, it’s so important and we rely on you’.

Why aren’t you approving my screenshot? It’s a screenshot of what I can see when I look at your website, if it’s good enough for them to post why isn’t it good enough for me to post???

OP posts:

My imagination is probably too vivid but I'm starting to wonder if this is the run up to a breach/hack.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 12/08/2026 01:50

Hey, can you approve my image please, which is A SCREENSHOT OF THIS SITE.

Well they don’t seem to be on the ball with any IT safety at all, so why not? What happened last time? A swat team was sent to Justine’s house? Or am I mixing it up with something else? It was a couple of teenagers?

Last time this happened: Mumsnet: Parenting site targeted with child sexual abuse images - BBC News https://share.google/IYe0mETJFYyU3Xptm

ScarletLisa · 12/08/2026 01:59

I think the SWAT team thing was a hack or something.

OtterlyAstounding · 12/08/2026 02:01

They need to hire a white hat hacker to make sure everything is secure, and get a paid mod on at night. Even just one would make quite a difference, I'm sure.

cariadlet · 12/08/2026 02:05

I've reported so many posts with that message tonight. It's ridiculous.

Screenshot (if it works)

No screenshot visible. They didn’t approve mine either, despite approving it in the first place so it appears in my screenshot 🤷‍♀️.

One weirdo was posting their shite in a night watch thread. Took an hour to delete.

So efficient, mumsnet. This is a multi million pound business!!

UnderMirkwood · 12/08/2026 02:14

Mumsnet are completely unprofessional and tight with it. A million pound business that won't pay for nighttime mods, is a joke. The whole site is clunky and slow and they ban posters for minor infringements yet cannot remove posts like the one quoted or the awful child abuse pictures posted several months ago, for several hours.

dreamingofgoodhair · 12/08/2026 02:22

I’m still not over those images from last year.
I thought they had a Nightwatch ? What do they do?

They were volunteer. Probably sick of mn nonsense. Being squeezed for all the money they can

EineKleineNightwatcher · 12/08/2026 02:32

Nightwatch have been busty suspending namechanging trolls and deleting multiple posts

Well thank you, but the point is is they paid you properly like an actual employee you would have more powers to do whatever you needed to, and you would be able to sit here and work instead of doing your actual job or cooking or whatever else you’re doing.

The fault is entirely Mumsnets for asking people to volunteer then basically handing over half the keys to the nuclear power station, then waffling to the BBC when it all goes wrong.

Just reported an idiot on the feminism board. Just checked and MN have already deleted them. That was quick. Considering it's 2.40am. 👍

cariadlet · 12/08/2026 02:58

I do appreciate the work of the Night watch team but a site as big as Mumsnet shouldn't be relying on you.
