Threads scrolling by themselves

Using a browser on my mobile and this evening threads are scrolling upwards by themselves. It's really freaky!

@BeckyAMumsnet

As above. Android, desktop site on Chrome, Samsung phone.

Grumpy, it's because we're cheapskates who didn't buy an iPhone.
🤣

SquirrelosaurusSoShiny · 20/09/2025 16:55

Android on Chrome here too and it was a specific advert. Hitting refresh seemed to fix it 🤞

Happening my phone now. Android and chrome.

TenderChicken · 21/09/2025 00:14

Me too - android, chrome, samsung, desktop site.

SnowFrogJelly · 21/09/2025 00:36

I’ve noticed this too on IPhone

Concretejungle1 · 21/09/2025 00:40

Yes chrome is unusable. I’ve tried to read a large thread and page is constantly refreshing. Been like this over a year.

GeckoClimber · 21/09/2025 10:28

This is happening to me too. iPhone and chrome. Cookies deleted (weirdly it’s only MN that forces me to constantly delete cookies to see if it improves it - it never does!).

When it’s scrolling on its own I can scroll it up a bit but cannot scroll through the thread, as it’s happening this morning on 2/3 threads MN is basically unusable, and I’m starting to wonder why I’m still here.

I have a screen recording which shows the self scrolling, me scrolling up a bit, and a lack of scrolling down even though I was trying to. Let me know if you want me to email it to you @BeckyAMumsnet

Edited

I moved to chrome because safari was unusable.

It’s only MN that I can’t use on either, everything else works fine. It all points to MN being the issue, but they don’t appear to care.

Beamur · 21/09/2025 10:31

I just close MN if this happens...

Perplexed20 · 21/09/2025 16:06

Happening for me too

hexsnidgett · 21/09/2025 17:01

Is there no answer yet? I thought it was a new feature and came here to see how to turn it off.

EducatingArti · 21/09/2025 17:37

Me too. Happening intermittently. Chrome on Android

PragmaticIsh · 24/09/2025 09:24

@BeckyAMumsnet I've just emailed a video to [email protected] of this scrolling, taken this morning on my Samsung on Chrome. Still happening. Any news on fixing it as I'm far from the only user who has had the issue, albeit intermittently?

Thanks.

Thank you @PragmaticIsh - we're reviewing your screen recording now and will update ASAP.

BeckyAMumsnet · 25/09/2025 12:11

Thanks so much to everyone for flagging this issue - we’re really sorry it’s affecting your browsing. We’re aware of it and are taking it seriously.

To help us get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible, it would be incredibly useful if you could send screen recordings showing the behaviour, including any ads that appear when it happens. The more examples we have, the better we can identify the cause and fix it.

Really appreciate your patience while we investigate, and we’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Ukisgaslit · 26/09/2025 09:25

The autoscroll has stopped for me
Thank you

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 28/09/2025 07:39

Back doing it this morning...
🤬

DrinkReprehensibly · 28/09/2025 08:34

I'm another one who has been getting this issue and just came here now as the annoying jerky scrolling is affecting my ability to read a thread. Android Samsung with Chrome. Even if I switch to another tab and return, it's still scrolling away. Going into the chrome "meatball menu" as MNHQ call it, seems to stop the scrolling.

mum2jakie · 28/09/2025 08:58

Back here too! Must be a sign to get out of bed!

drspouse · 28/09/2025 09:55

I've had it this morning too. If I go back and reload the thread in question it usually stops. But it's annoying and pointless! I'm using the mobile site, on a pretty new Pixel on Chrome (so I'm not a cheapskate!).

GrandChampionBestinDungeonPrincessDonut · 28/09/2025 11:01

This has been happening to me too, intermittently over the last few days and again this morning. Also using chrome on android.

Cantseetreesforthewood · 28/09/2025 12:16

Back at it this morning for me too.
Tried to work out how to video my own screen, but couldn't figure it out. Sorry.

Spanador · 28/09/2025 13:55

Mines being doing this too. Chrome app on iPhone. Between this, all the constant ads and glitches the site is just becoming annoying and unusable
