Threads scrolling by themselves

PragmaticIsh · 19/09/2025 22:07

Using a browser on my mobile and this evening threads are scrolling upwards by themselves. It's really freaky!

OP posts:
Mysticaldeer · 20/09/2025 09:48

What can be the thought process behind this? Are we expected to never look up? Never re read a post?
I leave my phone open on something I'm interested in and come back to it after I've done whatever I'm doing.

Cantseetreesforthewood · 20/09/2025 10:35

Just coming on to post this if it wasn't already there.
Android phone, using Chrome.

Just some threads. Refreshing doesn't stop it. Copying the url, and pasting into a new tab did stop it.

Makes the thread unreadable.

Suhbataar · 20/09/2025 10:40

Me too. Chrome on Android on Motorola. Site no longer accessible and becoming a chore to read.

AlwaysFreezing · 20/09/2025 10:43

Totally thought I'd got something on my screen that was making it do this....my phone has never been cleaner!

The colours are pretty difficult to get used to, but I will. But whatever this fresh hell is with the threads seeming to have a mind of their own is too much and not something I'll ever get used! Make it stop! Please!

mum2jakie · 20/09/2025 10:44

I thought it was my phone having low battery! Thanks for posting!

GameWheelsAlarm · 20/09/2025 10:59

I saw this thread title and thought it sounded weird but wasn't something I have experienced - then the next thread I clicked on it started doing it. I think it's an advert issue, it scrolled down to a full screen advert and then stopped (screengrab here). Next time it happens, watch and see where it stops and we will probably trace a specific advert or type of advert that is causing this issue.

I'm not sure that @MNHQ works as a tag but various names like @HebeMumsnet And @LilyMumsnet may get through to an actual person at MNHQ

And me!

FightingInAVatOfJellyBabies · 20/09/2025 11:00

MN is completely unusable. @MNHQ I have a screen record if you want to see it - I can't seem to add it on here.

I can't scroll back up on the page, the page keeps moving like it is on a conveyor belt.

Thank fuck I don't pay for this, I keep thinking about it because the adverts do my nut, but then things like this keep happening.

JurassicPark4Eva · 20/09/2025 11:01

Had this this morning on Chrome on a Samsung S24. Very irritating!!

ItsOnlyHobnobs · 19/09/2025 22:11

Yes, me too! On chrome browser via iPhone.

Me too. This morning but it’s happened randomly before. Safari on iPhone 11.

Caerulea · 20/09/2025 11:01

Thought it was my browser (opera). Between this & godawful new colours (switched to 'dark mode' but that's only slightly improved the new palette) I don't want to look at my screen

@MNHQ doesn't exist.

FightingInAVatOfJellyBabies · 20/09/2025 11:02

@GameWheelsAlarm probably not on a weekend!

Mine doesn't appear advert related as it happens as soon as I start reading the OP. But what do I know probably more than MN, who would blind their users and add infinite scrolling which everyone hates?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/09/2025 11:02

@MNHQ doesn't exist.

It is in site stuff so they will see it anyway- which is completely different to doing anything about it

PashaMinaMio · 20/09/2025 11:04

It’s 1103, I’ve just come back on.
it’s fkng scrolling again!

Shr3dding · 20/09/2025 11:06

It's just happened to me for the first time but only on one thread, I've read a couple of others and they were fine as is this one

How does any of this get signed off as being improvements

TaborlinTheGreat · 20/09/2025 12:13

Yep, it's happening to me on some threads too. I agree that it seems to be to do with the adverts. I closed an advert on one thread and the auto scrolling briefly stopped until another advert popped up and it started again! What is going on? I'm not bothered by the other changes tbh, but this is really annoying.

Hoardasurass · 20/09/2025 12:13

@MNHQ has decided that dyslexic people shouldn't be allowed to use mumsnet nor anyone with migraines or visual issues.
The site is now effectively unusable for us. The colour change has made it migraine inducing and make it unusable for anyone with visual issues so the only option is to put it in dark mode which for many with dyslexia very difficult to read as the letters appear to move over the page when reading the white on black. Now that the page is moving up on its own (which has just started for me) means I and anyone else with visual processe dyslexia cant use the site and screen reading apps now won't function.
So all in all the new site is actively discriminating against disabled users well done @MNHQ atleast we now know what you think about us and how you believe we should be excluded from your site

Ukisgaslit · 20/09/2025 12:15

Auto scrolling happening for me on chrome /iphone .
Hate it !

RightOnTheEdge · 20/09/2025 13:10

I came here to see if I could find a thread because it keeps happening to me.
It did it a few times yesterday but its happening all the time today.

The only thing stopping it is to keep pressing back and then having to go back onto the thread I was reading again.

I'm using Chrome on a Samsung.

Stowickthevast · 20/09/2025 16:15

Same problem, juddering and auto scrolling on pages tonight and today. I'm on a chrome browser on an android phone too - Pixel.

Gatekeeper · 20/09/2025 16:17

thank goodness...I thought my phone was bewitched or something as its been doing this to me on and off since this morning!

BeckyAMumsnet · 20/09/2025 16:35

Hello and thanks for posting - we're sorry you're all having this issue. Please do share any screen recordings of what you're seeing either here, or email us [email protected] Any details of your device and browser will also be very helpful. Thanks.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/09/2025 16:45

@BeckyAMumsnet

I'm on android with the desktop site in Chrome.
