Why aren't threads opening on most recent post

whitecarmcr · 15/06/2025 20:21

I haven't changed my settings but now when I open a thread I'm on it takes me to an older post than I've read. It used to take me to the most recent. What's happening?

OP posts:

When I open a TIO I am always taken to the first page of the thread, rather than the newest post

Same, still doing it.

RaraRachael · 25/06/2025 15:54

Any chance this can be sorted soon?

It's so time consuming having to bookmark every single thread I look at because it won't refresh.

LindorDoubleChoc · 26/06/2025 11:01

11 days and counting ...

ExtensivelyDecorating · 26/06/2025 11:03

Yes, it seems to be intermittent for me but it is annoying

TheHillsIsLonely · 26/06/2025 13:26

Bookmark still isn't reliably working for me so I can't even do that as a temporary fix.

I'm still being taken back to the start of threads or to some random place in the middle, rather than to the latest posts, bookmarked posts or the post of mine or the OP notifications would usually take me to.

After all this time I'm beginning to wonder if MNHQ get more revenue for all these extra clicks we are having to do...

It is annoying and off-putting.

TheHillsIsLonely · 26/06/2025 13:33

To add, after I hit post on my pp I was taken right back to the start of the thread again. I had to click again to go to the end of the thread to see if it had posted ok!

Somebody has been faffing and fiddling about behind the scenes and royally cocked MN up. Hmm

Halsall · 26/06/2025 14:39

For a couple of blessed days @whitecarmcr’s suggested work-round did the trick for me. Then it stopped.

I’m beyond sick of it now.

MoominUnderWater · 02/07/2025 21:02

This still isn’t fixed and is making the site very hard to use. No updates? @BeckyAMumsnet do you know what’s happening please.

RaraRachael · 02/07/2025 22:40

Thought this would have been fixed by now but no, still endless bookmarking of every bloody page.

BellaMumsnet · 03/07/2025 11:54

Hi all, thank you for your patience while we work on a fix for this. We will update you as soon as we can.

TheHillsIsLonely · 03/07/2025 12:31

These issues have been going on for some time now. My patience is wearing out, especially now we are being subjected to the new giant 'accept ads & cookies or pay to subscribe' pop up before we can access the site. There was apparently time to do that to us but not to fix these issues.

RaraRachael · 03/07/2025 12:40

I've just noticed the Accept ads and cookies' thing today.
That is annoying enough jn itself but doubly so as this previous issue hasn't been resolved

Tallisker · 03/07/2025 14:11

Don’t know if this is part of the same thing, but when I open a previously read and bookmarked thread, it takes me to the last post of the thread. So I have to scroll back up to find out where I’ve read to. Annoying.

Pretty sure it's this which has borked everything else.

'See next' on the OP's posts isn't working; I keep getting taken to the top of the page instead of my bookmark (and it keeps refreshing and taking me back there when I'm scrolling down to find my place); and it all just keeps freezing / jamming so I can't move anywhere! I'm sure there are other glitches too.

This is happening with me too if I forget to bookmark

whitecarmcr · 04/07/2025 07:51

I don't ever bookmark so don't expect it's connected to that

OP posts:
TheHillsIsLonely · 04/07/2025 14:22

Bookmark still isn't working for me either. I'm still being taken to the oldest posts page or a random page in the middle of the thread on threads I'm on and from notifications. When I submit a post it still also takes me back to the oldest page.

Is this increasing advertising revenue for MN as we are all having to do at least twice as many clicks? Perhaps there isn't any motivation to fix it if so. You have to wonder given the length of time it is taking to fix it.

Advertising has really been ramped up on the site recently with the accept or pay gatekeeping pop up, and all the ads surrounding the pages, especially the highly annoying, distracting and headache inducing flashing ads.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2025 18:01

I can barely use the site as it's taking me so long to navigate to where I want to be. I just can't be arsed.

RaraRachael · 04/07/2025 20:32

All the advertising is completely wasted on me as I never take any notice of any of it

RaraRachael · 10/07/2025 14:48

Now it's even worse.
Despite me bookmarking every thread, it now spins past it and takes me to the final post

When will this end? It becoming almost unusable 😡

MoominUnderWater · 13/07/2025 20:52

Still not working. I don’t understand how it can be so hard to put back to how it used to be?

Thatsrhesummeroverthen · 13/07/2025 21:18

It's odd how much extra time it takes!

TheHillsIsLonely · 13/07/2025 21:42

It is making longer threads impossible to navigate.

I really think we deserve to know why it hasn't been fixed after all this time.

LindorDoubleChoc · 13/07/2025 21:47

Nearly a month to restore a function that just functioned along quietly 🙄

I've had to go to 25 posts a page, which I hate, to rescue fucking scrolling / hunting time.
