‘Quoting the Op’

Please, please, please Mumsnet, stop posters quoting the original post.
At the very least on the first page of responses (preferably first 100).
I know it’s stupidly easy to quote other posts accidentally now, irritates the hell out of me the number of times I hit ‘Quote’ when scrolling down and find myself at the bottom of the page, losing my place, but please can MNHQ stop the Op’s post appearing multiple times, often in the the first few replies.
TIA

As I said @HebeMumsnet this is a really good thing, thank you, but I do wish it could be the same on all quoted posts. Say, the first 20 lines showing, and then 'show more' to drop down, and see what the rest says.

EG: the first post on page 9 of this thread, is quite a long post, (by EmeraldRoulette,) and someone quoted it immediately after this post. And then directly after that poster quoted it, the next poster quoted it too.

It's really not necessary to quote a post when you are answering it directly after it's posted! All you need to do is @ the poster you're speaking to. It's especially annoying when the post being quoted is long, and as I say, it's particularly annoying if it's directly after that particular post! It's as annoying as quoting the the OP (IMO.)

I don't imagine anything will be changed anytime soon regarding this, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Can I just say I love the workaround!

Me, too. Noticed it the other day and made a mental note to say thank you!

Sorry, my link didn't work properly. Try again.

Would be handy if all quoted posts only had a certain amount showing - 10 to 20 lines - and then you had to 'click more' to see the rest of the post.
