Please remove me from the infinite scroll test group.

Can I please be removed from the test group and have my account moved back to the paginated version? I really dislike the infinite scrolling, it makes it much harder to navigate the threads and means I end up leaving threads and not engaging with the site. I would have appreciated a heads up that I was being placed in a test group and how to opt out instead of being left to struggle with a frustrating and unnecessary change.

What is infinite scroll and what is paginated. I don’t know what I have. How do they look different

We used to have the replies show in pages, so you can click on the page you want to navigate to. It also makes it easier to spot where you are when reading a long thread, and where comments you like were.
Now there's no pages, just a 'show more' button. Which makes jupoing halfway into a thread impossible.

JemimaPiddlepot · 22/05/2025 14:30

PLEASE take me out of this bloody group!! It’s horrendous!

Why are you persisting with it? When you have a thread with over 200 people asking you to remove them from the group, doesn’t that tell you that you don’t need to keep testing it? Nobody wants it!

blankittyblank · 22/05/2025 15:09

OK, here is one really annoying consequence of this infinite scrolling. I wanted to go back and look at the first couple of posts under the original as there were links I wanted to read. But all I get the option to 'load older posts'. I don't want to see all the older posts bit by bit, each time I click on the button. I just want to see the posts in the order they were posted!

I know you said the App has always been infinite scrolling, but in the new one it does something similar where by if I have bookmarked a post, and then want to see what the most recents posts on that thread were, the reverse button doesn't work. It just takes me back to my post all the time. It's SO ANNOYING!

Please remove me from the infinite scroll test group.

Please remove me from the test group!

Blueberry911 · 22/05/2025 15:44

Did anyone actually ask for this?
Did you consider how this may affect accessibility of your site? Do people actually sit down and think things through before making a site change?
I'm sure some of your visually impaired site users would be happy to offer feedback BEFORE you make strange changes.

Please remove me too.

Columbidae · 22/05/2025 16:24

Please remove me

Snailiewhalie · 22/05/2025 17:41

Please remove me. This scrolling hurts my eyes.

LittleMyLittle · 22/05/2025 18:08

Could I be removed too please? I like to return to threads that have been updated and the new system forces me to scroll past all the messages I've already read, which can take ages if the thread is long!

Maerchentante · 22/05/2025 19:19

Please remove me from the infinite scroll test group as well.

Every online forum I've ever been a member of has had the page view, which I find to be more user friendly.

Chelseaflag · 22/05/2025 19:22

Please remove me too I absolutely hate it

ClarasZoo · 22/05/2025 20:20

Please remove me from this test- I want my page numbers!

JumpingJill · 22/05/2025 21:23

Please remove me too. It switched to infinite scrolling for me part way through today.

It is AWFUL. It prevents one navigating quickly to the middle/ end to get a sense for what is happening without having to read every post.

It makes it impossible to keep up with v long threads. I like to check back occasionally to see how many new posts there are (from the page numbers) and then browse through. But with a 39 page thread it takes about 10 mins to scroll through, with lots of jerking and stop/starting. I will just give up (and stop using the site as it is mainly these long-running threads that draw me).

Why cant you just let people manually select how many posts they want to read per page? And also add a “jump to end” button for those who do want infinite scrolling.

MagellanicPenguin · 22/05/2025 22:16

Please remove me, takes ages to get to end of long thread. Thanks

NImumconfused · 22/05/2025 22:17

Please remove me from the infinite scroll group, it's horrible - makes it a really unpleasant experience to try to follow longer threads.

OwlOwlOwlCat · 22/05/2025 22:24

Hi, please remove me from the infinite scroll group too, it's really unpleasant - I find it utterly disorientating.

probablyabadidea · 23/05/2025 08:09

Please remove me too (now that I've finally scrolled forever to be able to add this comment).

Chersfrozenface · 23/05/2025 10:29

Remove me too, please.

It has only just happened to me and its beyond annoying.

JoMumsnet · 23/05/2025 11:11

Hi again, just confirming that we've removed everyone who's asked to leave the infinite scroll test group up to this point. Thanks again for your feedback - we'll responding to other points you've raised on this thread shortly.
