I saw the threads a week or so ago regarding what had been posted, it’s awful it’s happened again. I really feel for those that saw them, and for those on night duty that have had to deal with the posts, it’s way beyond any remit for voluntarily moderating a forum in the nighttime hours.
I am sure that there will be one person, if not a mish-mash group, that will be eagerly monitoring this site for responses - they will get a kick out of it. The more that people describe their reactions to this type of thing, the more it will please them.
MN need to advise, robustly and urgently, what is being put in place to minimise this risk, especially regarding the fact that it’s happened so soon after the last one.
However, I don’t think that the answer is disabling all photo uploads from now on. There are a number of boards/topics that would not be the same without photo uploads. Banning photos would be the first step for outside influences to shut down freedom of discussion on here - they’d be incredibly happy with that.
MN need to keep a pinned post at the top of this topic (and also somewhere on the main page of their site) to proactively update what they’re doing to stamp this out. And to advise how to report these awful posts for a quick response, no matter what time zone anyone resides in when they’re spotted.
These infiltrations are beyond vile, but please don’t let them win by slowly chipping away at what they don’t want us to have - a space to have a voice no matter what your circumstances are.
Just to reiterate - MN, it’s not a great optic that the latest discussions and info for resolutions are on this board. There’s probably many that don’t realise this board, or the Nightwatch, exist. I kind of get that you probably don’t want to put a “pinned” post on the main page, but there needs to be a better way of communicating to all of your users what to do in the event of situations like this.
