My partner does nothing to help thread contains paedophilia photos. Reported 40 minutes ago but they’re still there.

Is an administrator awake to remove them please?

I’ve reported, very upsetting and I hope the police get involved. What kind of sick person would post on a site knowing the majority of people have kids?

I wonder what world we live in sometimes. I hope those kids can be tracked down and saved.

LoudSnoringDog · 03/02/2025 04:07

All moved now thankfully. What on earth possesses these hideous people

Redtrainyellowcarriage · 03/02/2025 04:10

I reported two lots tonight on the night watch section .
Same photos different user name
Some ppl are vile

NiteWotcha · 03/02/2025 04:14

I think we have deleted all the images for now.

it is indeed very upsetting - please report here or to the NightWatch if you see any more of these awful images

That is probably a big part of the thrill for them, knowing how much it will upset people on here because we're parents. Fucking sick.

Agree.

I think the best thing to do is not interact.

Just report, and send the link to the Night Watch.

Don’t give the sicko any attention by saying anything.

I'm sure MNHQ will be dealing with that side of things ASAP

LegoHouse274 · 03/02/2025 05:43

I haven't seen these threads thank GOODNESS as would be so so upset if I had.

I honestly personally would prefer that MN not have the facility to upload photos at all on the forums tbh.

Devon24 · 03/02/2025 05:54

The police will track him down and he will be arrested. Sharing images of that nature is an offence. Particularly on a public forum.

An aggravating factor is the very public nature of the forum - so he could have ‘distributed’ the images to many people which carries a custodial sentence.

I hope he is busy packing a bag. Cell space is at a premium so he could be in a for a very very long drive too, in a cramped prison van before he is produced to the courts.
Whom will take a very dim view of the nature of this offence, and the obvious motivation to cause maximum distress.

They’ll take a very dim view of the owners of MN as well for allowing these images through.

Receiving CSA images is a criminal offence in its own right and amounts to making CSA images. So MN are legally as culpable for allowing the images through as the person who posted them.

Most decent websites have filters which prohibit certain elements, pictures, language and such which mn does not.

So either they need to build in filters which mean these pictures wouldn’t have been able to upload the pictures in the first place or they need to remove the ability to post pictures until they can do something about ensuring those kinds of pictures are never able to be posted again.

I agree, I am sure MN will be taking legal advice, they have a duty to protect their users (and the site) I agree unless it is safe, the ability to add photos should be removed altogether.

Zone2NorthLondon · 03/02/2025 06:28

I have to say mn needs to immediately review it photo upload provision as website is expected to have filters and circumvent such inappropriate uploads. Although inadvertent mn has facilitated hosting of inappropriate images. One could argue it was an anticipated risk and that mn should have adequate provisions.

Not just MN - I’m believe anyone who opened the thread might also find they could be said to have ’made’ an image of CSA.

Vallmo47 · 03/02/2025 06:39

That’s disgusting - and I agree, all images need to be reviewed before approval!! I can’t believe that doesn’t already happen.

You may be technically correct, but i’m 100% sure the Police aren’t interested in anyone who clicks innocently on a MN thread in case anyone worries.

OMG logging out as quickly as I logged in! Thank heavens I saw this thread first.

But now I am wondering; is this thread genuine? Sorry op! I’m
as sure as I can be that you are posting in good faith but you never know do you?!

A suggestion of horrible content is probably as damaging to the site as actual horrible content ifyswim if some anti-Mumsnet person wanted to do damage I mean? But seeing as more than one poster has seen the nasty photos; it’s probably genuine. I am definitely not going to check or open any more threads until the all clear though!

Surely images like this shouldn’t get through the most basic of checks?

How will we know when it’s safe to log back in? Please Mumsnet HQ would you put a sticky notice up or something please?

Aargh! Nightmare for HQ! What a horrid start to the week for them!

OneLemonGuide · 03/02/2025 06:48

@MNHQ

Please don’t underestimate the seriousness of this. You MUST remove the ability to post photos immediately, and only restore the ability once you have watertight controls in place. If you can’t remove the ability immediately you need to take the site down until you can.
