Why? and why do people think this is acceptable?

OP posts:

I'm new and I've seen some lovely things and some not so lovely things - I've also been told off. I quite like that - I'm learning stuff anyway

dizzydixies · 10/03/2008 11:34

you've also been known for your violent tendencies too padboz
cage fighting anyone lol?!?!

padboz · 10/03/2008 12:02

pah dizzy! If you remember I ran off and hid. You may be on bed rest but you took the chance to bounce round the ring crowing dincha eh? I'm all talk and no action

dizzydixies · 10/03/2008 12:07

PMSL

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/03/2008 12:09

Don't think MN is particularly hostile to newbies. I have been on here abotu a year and never experienced it (was just ignored for about 6 months!).

I joined exactly a year ago and never found any hostility. If I was to have started with a 'why are you all such a bunch of bitches?' thread, then I would expect and deserve hostility, but luckily I curbed that and went straight in with something dull and inane.

Boco have you only been here a year

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/03/2008 12:19

Mind you I lurked for a couple of months and knew not to post something stupid.

I think if I had started a hand-wringing thread about meaneis nicking the M&T parking spaces I could have expected some sharp posts in return.

padboz · 10/03/2008 12:25

I WISH I'd lurked GetOrf - I'm only just getting some idea how much stuff I don't know. I'd love to start an alterego but I'd feel horribly dishonest and cant!

SheikYerbouti · 10/03/2008 12:25

Boco is only here because of me, and don;t you forget it

I imagine MN to be like a local pup in the deepest darkest recesses of the countryside, if any newcomers come in through the main bar enterance, they get looked at funny by the old yokels who have been hanging aroung eyeing up the decrepit old barmaid and drinking the flat beer, and saying things like "We won;t let Europe tell us how big our bananas have to be, John" since the combine harvester was invented. If the newcomer comes in all loud and trappy, they will get thrown out through into the car park.

If they enter through the snug, and sit and have a quiet pint and read the paper in the corner a few times, they will eventaully become part of the furniture and folk will think they have been there all along.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/03/2008 12:27

lol at pub analogy

Twiglett · 10/03/2008 12:29

Conniedescending is an old name-changer who posts fabulous troll threads which tend to lead to interesting discussions

I think it's worth discussing, but don't spare any sympathy for OP .. she's not a new poster feeling hurt

just though I'd heads up

Cam · 10/03/2008 12:30

Interesting sheik.

My mumsnet is set in an urban metrosexual landscape where new people go completely unnoticed unless/until they do something contraversial or make the gathered cognoscenti laugh

Twiglett · 10/03/2008 12:31

reads thread and farks off feeling redundant

SheikYerbouti · 10/03/2008 12:37

Why are ypu feeling redundant, Twigg?

Boco · 10/03/2008 12:55

It's true actually. was initiated by the Sheik, had to go through a bizarre disturbing ritual with a big walrus to be accepted into the inner quiche of evil.

SheikYerbouti · 10/03/2008 12:57
Grin
Cam · 10/03/2008 12:58

She promised us she'd stopped doing that Boco

Platino · 10/03/2008 13:01

Boco can you email you address over to my mll [email protected] address so I can post your book back to you. I feel a bit when I see it on my dresser because I have not returned it to you, as yet.

Sorry about all the in my email but believe or not someone is googling that horrid name top see what she is posting etc.... bla bla bla boring long story....

Does that make sense?

SheikYerbouti · 10/03/2008 13:01

I still bring out the Walrus now and then if needed, but I go to special clubs with like-minded people to do it.

It's my shameful secret

Boco · 10/03/2008 13:06

Ok Platino, didn't recognise you at all there. Don't worry about book no hurry, friend seems fine atm and so in no rush to get it to her. If you haven't had a chance to read it then do keep it longer. Will email you though.

Boco · 10/03/2008 13:07

Actually, I'm not sure I understand the address, will try and if nothing comes through then mine is spondie at hotmail dot com.
