Mumsnet Books - more on the way

A fair few of you have suggested over the last little while that we ought to think about doing some more Mumsnet books and the good news is that indeed we are. We've signed a deal with Bloomsbury to do six in fact - the first of which is The Mumsnet Guide to Toddlers, due out in April 09. And what's more it's being put together by our very own Morningpaper. So irony of ironies - the Mumsnetter who concocted the "Rockets over Lebanon" remark that so irked a certain someone is now writing parenting books. Oh what fun .

Anyway we'll keep you posted with further developments titles etc but for now, as ever, thanks for your input.

OOh FF an MN book of insults and put downs.

I am sure Custy would feature highly lol

Or MN on husbands and men in general, full of quotes from the forum. i am sure that would be hilarious

Desiderata · 03/03/2008 00:41

Ah, but is your name Gillian and are you Scottish?

MAMAZON · 03/03/2008 00:41

Indeed you are.

fairyfly · 03/03/2008 00:42

No, no no, not insults and put downs, not at all, is that what you think i am all about?

I meant something that wasn't taken that seriously, observational humour.

MAMAZON · 03/03/2008 00:43

i know FF. but you gave me the idea of the insults.

i sometimes see people like Expat and Custy come up with some utter gems.

fairyfly · 03/03/2008 00:45

It should be called the mn book on Bitterness, would be fabulous. Best seller, none of this toddler shit.

GillianMcPoo · 03/03/2008 00:46

Not Gillian, but a self-proclaimed Poo-Guru, like the good lady herself, (although without pHd bought over t'internet.. ..)

Oh and not scottish either.

But still

Desiderata · 03/03/2008 00:48

ShiestyMcFiesty?

Desiderata · 03/03/2008 00:51

OK, I'm orf ... in a minute!

GillianMcPoo · 03/03/2008 00:56

Gillian is growing on me, sorry

I can't keep Shiny.. there are just loads now and some are far more popular than me. I did kick off about it a little bit a while ago , but people like their Shiny names so what can you do? I concede.. think of me as ShinyBrownPoo if you like Desi Think that might have been the name I registered on Bounty with and they promptly banned me!!

Oh.. we have sullied Justine's sensible thread with all this inane stuff about my name

Feel free to edit Justine!

JustineMumsnet · 03/03/2008 09:20

Thanks for all your suggestions - we're in discussion with the publisher about the other 2 titles and we very much hope if they are successful to do loads more so no reason why we shouldn't cover all the bases... SN, breastfeeding, birth, teens, putdowns etc

We'll keep you posted.

Do you need a copyeditor. I'm sure that Bloomsbury have absoultely none of their own?

Threadworm · 03/03/2008 09:34

...and probably you are looking for a copyeditor who knows about question marks.

Threadworm · 03/03/2008 09:35

... and can spell 'absolutely'.

PeatBog · 03/03/2008 09:44

and a proofreader who knows everything

Erm I think bloomsbury handle copy editing/ proofing - at least am hoping they do but if not we definitely know where to come .

don't worry, Justine, they'll look after all of that with their army of freelancers. All MP needs to do is write it

Ooooh, but Justine you want an editor who understands the nuances of this place, and won't forever be plaguing MorningPaper with questions like: 'What is BTFO? Please spell out abbreviations on first use', or, 'English does not appear to be Cod's first language. Is it acceptable to make corrections to her posts?', or 'What is a Hun?'

Do you see?
