I use the mobile site on my phone (flip4)
In the last week or so an advert wont load , so all i get is a white screen with the word advertisement at the top and then i cant scroll down to the the next post. Think this is on either Chrome or Samsung search

Happening to me a lot at random, mostly at night. Using Safari an iOS, I just shut down and come back later.

Dropchain · 29/08/2023 09:28

Yes been happening for a week or so, multiple times a day. On Google pixel phone. Have to force stop chrome and start again each time. Clearing cache hasn't made a difference.

DrinkReprehensibly · 29/08/2023 14:10

Just to mention, this is still an issue and has crashed my phone browser at least 3 times on different threads on different boards today. I can't tell what the advert breaking it is because it just doesn't load. Tried clicking in the space to see if it takes me to the product but nothing happens.

FireEngineGeorge · 30/08/2023 07:06

Similar is happening to me. The ads are loading though, just as I try to scroll past them they crash my phone and I have to close chrome down completely. All ads, any time of day at random, multiple times a day, only mumsnet.

Google pixel phone, chrome, using mobile site. Last thread it happened on was this one, before coming back to write this post.

And clearing cache and cookies does nothing.

Afternoon, everyone. Thanks for your patience with this. If anyone is able to get a screen recording of this happening and sending it to us that would be brilliant and might help us work out what's going on here.

If anyone having this issue could also let us know their:
Country of use
Browser (safari / chrome)
Phone model
Operating system.
that would also be helpful.

Thanks again. Flowers

  1. England
  2. Samsung Internet
  3. Samsung s23
  4. android.

It's not happening as often, but still happening

FireEngineGeorge · 30/08/2023 18:52

England
Chrome
Google pixel 7
Android

It's hard to screen record because it happens randomly

DrinkReprehensibly · 30/08/2023 20:06

England
Chrome 116.0.5845.114
Samsung S20+
Android version 13 One UI version 5.1

I just experienced the issue on the AIBU thread list, so it's not just adverts within threads.

LilyMumsnet · 31/08/2023 09:46

Hi all

If possible, could you follow the below instructions so we can see where the issue is?

Preparation

  1. Go to any web page in your browser and create new bookmark, save it somewhere so it's easy to find/click
  2. Once created, Right click the bookmark and select Edit
  3. Replace the URL with "javascript: googletag.openConsole()" Then save!
  4. You have now created your "Bad ads button"!
Take action
  1. You see a bad or broken ad on mumsnet site
  2. Locate and Left click the new bookmark
  3. Screenshot the ad with the Overlay (PC = Win+Shift+S // Mac = CMD+Shift+4)
  4. email it to [email protected]

Just letting you know this has stopped happening for me now. So whatever you did worked for me.

VisionsOfSplendour · 01/09/2023 07:48

I've been having this a lot, I just thought the site was being really slow so closed and moved elsewhere

If it's due to an advert they are penalising all the other advertisers for me as I'm using mn less

Thanks for letting us know, @Dropchain - we're glad the site's working smoothly for you again.

If anyone else is still having problems today, please let us know (do also take a look at Hebe and Lily's most recent posts).
