'Goady and abusive' posts

I received an email from ' Mumsnet HQ' today warning me that several of my posts had had to be deleted recently because I was posting in an abusive and goady fashion. This is absolutely not true. The only post of mine recently that's been deleted was on a thread that was deleted, and it was not in itself abusive or goady. I'm assuming this was an automated send - but it was upsetting and a little worrying to receive. Could someone at MNHQ please explain what's going on, and perhaps apologise?

Good grief, the irony on this goading thread is delicious. Call me goaded!

You can’t really reclaim a slur OP and continue to use it as a slur. At least that’s not how it works generally. HTH. Do better.

Also, you sound unpleasant generally.

of course I may just be being goady to someone who is clearly easily goaded.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Maybe this is some sort of experimental intervention on the theme of offensiveness.

  1. poster has several posts deleted
  2. MNHQ actually email her to let her know that it’s not ok to be goady and abusive
  3. poster starts thread to complain about this
  4. MNHQ clarify that those posts included just calling people ‘cunts’ and ‘utter arses’
  5. poster decides to make a not-really-feminist stance about ‘reclaiming’ cunt by… erm… using it to insult other women
  6. Poster continues to claim she doesn’t understand why her calling people cunts approach to what she calls ‘online pile ons’ hasn’t gone down that well with MNHQ

No one is actually this obtuse. Surely.

Why on earth would you post this on the public forum rather than just emailing MNNQ and keeping it all private?

Some people can't stop digging when they find themselves in a hole.

I genuinely think OP has trapped herself in a thought process which goes like this:

‘Those people actually are cunts. This is objectively true.

Therefore calling those people cunts is merely observational and morally justified. Therefore again, this does not fall under Mumsnet’s injunctions against being abusive or goady.’

OP appears unable to think her way out of this mindtrap.

Some people can't stop digging when they find themselves in a hole.

There’s a death cab song about digging holes, which a bit that goes;

And I've got nowhere to go
Except further below, so I keep digging
And it gets darker every day
But I see no other way than just committing
And if the earth is as round as they say
Then I won’t find another place
From where I break back through
That’s farther away from you

Maybe that’s the OP’s plan.

HotWithNoRain · 29/06/2023 13:08

@BIWI I know that! I'm a very regular long time poster. I name change a lot!

I once got a deletion for troll hunting where the deletion came after Mumsnet had posted and confirmed it was a troll pthreaf 😂. I felt slightly hard done by but I was troll hunting TBF

It's tricky not troll hunting when you see a troll and you can see people being sucked in. I think Mumsnet should have paid moderators even on the weekend but, at the end of the day, it's their site and I don't have to be here

multivac · 29/06/2023 15:46

Thanks for the comments; this is the first time I've looked at MN today, due to that thing called 'work'. It seems clear to me that what must have happened, is that my (perfectly nongoady) suggestion that an utter arse should fuck off was taken exception to, presumably by the utter arse. Who then searched my posting history, found, to their delight, a couple of other examples of egregious behaviour, from lord knows when - certainly not this year - and reported those, too. So multiple deletions would have triggered the warning.

My reasonable confusion was about being told my 'recent' posting style had not been my 'usual' posting style. Hence my concern about being hacked. As I say, I don't post often these days, and rarely can be arsed to call out cunts for their cuntery.

HTH - and glad to have raised a laugh alongside some hackles...

That hole has just got deeper.

multivac · 29/06/2023 16:55

If you say so; but it's mine.

Leave it son, its not worth it

IncomingTraffic · 29/06/2023 17:34

So far down in this hole
There's little daylight
I feel the shards of the midday sun
And then it's black as midnight
The only stars I see in the sky
They don't move me
'Cause they've all been dead for millions of years
They're just light diffusing

FishTrashGlove · 29/06/2023 17:35

@Terryer 😆

multivac · 29/06/2023 17:36

It's very cosy. And cunts-free 😎.

To the tune of How Deep Is Your Love: How deep is your hole? How deep is your hole, ooh?

BIWI · 29/06/2023 17:49

... my (perfectly nongoady) suggestion that an utter arse should fuck off

Is completely against Talk Guidelines, and is the absolute epitome of goadiness!

Whatever - I think people are assuming, incorrectly, that I give a monkey's about having a post deleted. I don't. What I do object to, is receiving an email out of the blue telling me that multiple posts of mine have been deleted; that my usual posting style has changed; and being asked if I'm ok - when I've essentially been doing little but post on FE threads for weeks.

When I joined this forum it seemed to be practically unmoderated but I liked that and people weren't as venomous.

You could tell someone to fuck off

It was very sweary

Sometimes obviously a troll posted but threads were left standing, so they become hilarious or someone somewhere was thought to be in n the IPs boat so the advice stood

It was warmer somehow and funnier . Now every other post is deleted
