'Goady and abusive' posts

I received an email from ' Mumsnet HQ' today warning me that several of my posts had had to be deleted recently because I was posting in an abusive and goady fashion. This is absolutely not true. The only post of mine recently that's been deleted was on a thread that was deleted, and it was not in itself abusive or goady. I'm assuming this was an automated send - but it was upsetting and a little worrying to receive. Could someone at MNHQ please explain what's going on, and perhaps apologise?

Context

The only context is that MNHQ has a clear
rule that you are not allowed to launch personal attacks on other posters. Calling other posters names is a simple to understand violation of this rule. If you are reported your post will get deleted.

It doesn’t matter how angry you felt at the poster you called a name, or how much you feel they deserved to be hated and called names. Your feelings of self- righteousness are irrelevant. You are not Yahweh in the Old Testament righteously smiting your enemies.

You are just a random, anonymous stranger expected to be an adult who can manage their emotions well enough to not call people names.

MySugarBabyLove · 29/06/2023 08:28

IMO it comes down to whether you would consider it acceptable to be talked to or to talk to people like that face to face.

People seem to think that because they’re behind a keyboard that should give them the right to abuse people as they see fit and if people are sensitive about that then that’s on them not the abusive one.

If you were in company and you told someone to fuck off, called everyone a bunch of cunts etc you would likely never be invited back.

It’s no more acceptable to call someone a cunt online than it is to their face. And if you are in the habit of calling people those kinds of names to their face then generally you’re not a pleasant person.

OMGitsnotgood · 29/06/2023 08:41

i've been on MN for 16 years and I'm fairly tolerate and broad minded. I would definitely describe your posts as abusive.

Agreed.

NeedleFeltedFox · 29/06/2023 09:04

How’s about you wind your neck in op that’s definitely abusive posting.

and people do get deleted for saying ODFOD.

OMGitsnotgood · 29/06/2023 09:04

*tolerant

Quite.

OP is quite desperate in her attempts to justify swearing abusively at other people. So much so, that throwing misogynistic slurs at women is feminist.

In fact, the more this thread progresses, the more I am convinced that OP has set this thread up as a massive laugh. : )

its Brilliant.

alas I think she woke up sober…. :(

HotWithNoRain · 29/06/2023 09:30

@allmyliesaretrue
WTF gets onto a teaching course these days with three Es anyway?!

TBF you can get onto a teaching course with 3 Es at A'level and you only need 4's in gcse Maths and English. (England). As I'm sure you are aware you do need a 2:2 Degree but it can be in any subject.

Poor A'levels shouldn't rule someone out of becoming a teacher.

OP I have been on the wrong side of MNHQ more than once and think I am probably on my last warning..LOL
I have been called vile by other posters when I am simply saying what I think. The word vile gets used a lot on here and I think people have reported me which is why they send me to jail for a week every so often..
For context I do not use words like cunt, but I once got really angry when a poster visited a clairvoyant who told her to get an abortion an she was going to do it. I lost the plot that day :)
Sometimes, just sometimes I find the odd thread to be unbelievably stupid or cruel and I bite.
Normally I am very kind and supportive but I am human just like you OP and say what I really think !
Take it on the chin and live to post another day is what I say

Softoprider · 29/06/2023 09:50

Some of these blasted abbreviations. ODFOD - I had to google it. I just wish people would speak properly............ like :)

I have been on here for many years and never ever had a ban and only a couple of deletions. A couple of months ago I got a suspension for 2 “personal attacks” in a year, then another suspension for posting about it in site stuff and then another one for saying that I hoped someone’s post was bollocks but probably wasnt - which was apparently troll hunting. I then got another one for warning another poster not to post similar because when I did I got a suspension
So after around 15 years of nothing I got all this within a month or so, bizarre.
I did wonder if it was me but I don’t think so as I hadn’t changed what I said or how
I will probably get another now for this.

funnyo · 29/06/2023 09:58

Wrong thread. I'll request to have it removed Blush

HotWithNoRain · 29/06/2023 10:02

I'm really glad the site is moderated and I welcome MNHQ deleting comments and banning nasty posters.

I wish it were more moderated if anything.

I often disagree with posters but manage to give my opinion without being a dick. It's not exactly hard. You can be straightforward without being nasty.

I'm always saddened about how many posters seem to get a kick out of being nasty to other people online.

SunnyEgg · 29/06/2023 10:02

I’ve not used that word on here but did get told off for a fairly mild post. But probably reported by the few posters following intently

Now I’m zen and won’t rise to those that follow posters round so I guess it worked in a way

Softoprider · 29/06/2023 10:04

@SunnyEgg I think you are right about posters who follow others around. I have had people comment on my posts from other random threads and then I have been banned for a week.
I just could not be bothered with all of that shit.

BIWI · 29/06/2023 10:06

It's important to understand, though, that Mumsnet is only post-moderated - that is, they only read threads/posts that have been reported to them.

sunglassesonthetable · 29/06/2023 10:12

You can fuck off right along with the OP. HTH, you utter arse",

No not a personal attack at all. 🤣🤣

( what does HTH mean? )

Tbh OP if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen etc etc

CovetedAsFuck · 29/06/2023 10:16

Grin
CovetedAsFuck · 29/06/2023 10:17

HTH means “hope that helps”, @sunglassesonthetable

justanothermanicmonday1 · 29/06/2023 10:18

SoupDragon · 29/06/2023 10:20

Why on earth would you post this on the public forum rather than just emailing MNNQ and keeping it all private?

It means 'Hope that helps'...but typically said ironically.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 29/06/2023 10:27

The first two posts on the thread are gold.

Anyway, I have a pretty high threshold for being offended, but even I wonder just what will be considered offensive by OP.

MaggieBsBoat · 29/06/2023 10:29

Good grief, the irony on this goading thread is delicious. Call me goaded!

You can’t really reclaim a slur OP and continue to use it as a slur. At least that’s not how it works generally. HTH. Do better.

Also, you sound unpleasant generally.

of course I may just be being goady to someone who is clearly easily goaded.
