Upsetting ad coming up . Has anyone else had this? It’s very triggering

Hi
twice today an ad has come up ‘40 genetic photos’ and an image of what appears to be a baby affected by a trisomy ? This could upset a parent who has suffered a loss due to this.
It really startled me (I’ve been through this) it could upset someone else ?

Same here! I don't want to see it.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 11/02/2023 13:27

Hello everyone - we're sorry that this ad is still appearing. We blocked it yesterday but we're looking into why you're still seeing it. When you do see it, please click on the x on the top right corner, which may prevent it from appearing for you again.

Thank you for the URLs - this is helpful. The offending ad is programmatic - it is not placed directly by Mumsnet and while we have filters that usually prevent offensive content, some do slip through.

Again, we're sorry for the distress this has caused.

SnarkyBag · 11/02/2023 13:53

@YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet someone has posted a thread with a screen shot of the images in AIBU and no warning in the title. Have reported but anyone clicking is in for an unpleasant surprise

Westfacing · 11/02/2023 13:55

Becky the problem is, as we all know, the x on the right of any advert is deliberately difficult to immediately click on. The image I saw a few times yesterday was so horrific it made me dizzy for a few seconds, I just had to scroll past and could not have quickly located the x.

And since when did clicking the x prevent an ad appearing again? I'm not aware this is a thing.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 11/02/2023 14:00

@Westfacing A user can close or report an ad by clicking on the x - it's part of Google's ad policy and is designed to stop you seeing that ad again - it's not guaranteed because the marketer could run a different campaign. We've blocked the most recent ads now. @SnarkyBag we'll take a look - thank you.

Westfacing · 11/02/2023 14:02

Thank you.

TerryIsAllGold · 11/02/2023 14:08

It’s still showing

Bug84 · 11/02/2023 14:10

Jesus! Just had this on my feed too. Horrific!

7eleven · 11/02/2023 14:15

I’m off. Not seen this anywhere else. Can’t bare it. Shame cos I love mumsnet!

ItchyBillco · 11/02/2023 14:16

I clicked the X. And I’ve just seen it again on another thread. Fuck, please make it stop.

Regularsizedrudy · 11/02/2023 14:49

What the hell kind of tin pot website are you running if you can’t even control your own ads?? Really disturbing you need to sort this out.

Tygertiger · 11/02/2023 15:08

FFS. I’ve just had this myself and came on this page to report it and then saw this thread. That is the most distressing photo I can remember seeing and I’ve got my nine-year-old sitting next to me. Luckily she wasn’t looking at my phone. Mumsnet there must be something you can do about this. I feel sick and that poor poor baby’s face will be in my head for a long time.

BodGaoithe · 11/02/2023 15:40

I just started getting this ad, a few times in the last hour. (15.30 on Saturday.)

Workinghardeveryday · 11/02/2023 15:41

I am still getting it too, most threads numerous times

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 11/02/2023 16:49

So someone else has had their AIBU thread about deleted with the msg from MNHQ to head over to this thread instead. Why exactly? Nothing has been resolved.

Because that thread had screen shots of the image in the OP.

GreenLeavesRustling · 11/02/2023 17:56

It’s still not sorted and it is awful

Guess they want to keep bad publicity limited to one thread 🤷‍♀️

Saucery · 11/02/2023 20:18

There was a thread deleted on Thursday about this ad, because of its “tone”, apparently Hmm
So objecting to horrific and upsetting clickbait ads means you have a ‘tone’?

ItchyBillco · 11/02/2023 22:13

SnarkyBag · 11/02/2023 17:13

Mumsnet had actually asked posters to share screenshots, which was utterly stupid. Posters duly complied and then a whole load more people were distressed. It’s a total mess. That image is burned into my head. And after facing difficult decisions after a very late amniocentesis, I could fucking well have lived without seeing it. Again and again and again.

MichelleScarn · 11/02/2023 22:19

Sending unmumsnetty hugs @ItchyBillco also was very distressed by it.

I agree it’s a complete shit show. Sorry you’ve been affected so badly by this.

tillyoumakeit · 11/02/2023 22:34

I saw this thread yesterday but hadn't seen the advert here. I have however seen it today on Vinted unfortunately, so distressing and so disrespectful to this babies and their families. Anyway, just wanted to warn everyone re Vinted. Off to install an ad blocker.

Randobelia · 12/02/2023 11:27

Just seen it too. Ad blocker for me aswell. Awful. Incredibly upsetting. What the fuck is wrong with people.
