Upsetting ad coming up . Has anyone else had this? It’s very triggering

Hi
twice today an ad has come up ‘40 genetic photos’ and an image of what appears to be a baby affected by a trisomy ? This could upset a parent who has suffered a loss due to this.
It really startled me (I’ve been through this) it could upset someone else ?

@GiraffeLaSophie why someone thought it would be a great idea to screenshot it is beyond me 😐

Embelline · 10/02/2023 20:05

I’ve seen it. It’s really shaken me to be honest having had a 20 week baby loss.

i do think there should be a way you can retain more control over ads on this site.
it’s extremely upsetting and now appearing on this thread too.

Embelline · 10/02/2023 20:05

I also didn’t want to screen shot when I reported because I didn’t want it on my phone

ladymacbeth · 10/02/2023 20:02

Mnhq have explained they can't delete it from a screenshot. It's not unwilling, it's impossible!

@ladymacbeth

they can't delete the ad from a screenshot BUT they can delete the screenshot!!

7eleven · 10/02/2023 20:07

I hadn’t seen it until someone put a screenshot of it on here, with no warning. FFS. Thanks, mate

GiraffeLaSophie · 10/02/2023 20:08

@ladymacbeth I don’t want them to delete it from a screenshot, I want them to delete the screenshot!

Arou · 10/02/2023 20:09

For people slating the person who posted the screenshot in the first reply MN asked for a screenshot - not poster’s fault. But yeah, horrendous.

Racetothebottom2022 · 10/02/2023 20:09

Yes!

RettyPriddle · 10/02/2023 20:10

It’s on this thread now. Just seen it.. It’s so upsetting

Jesus Christ. I just got it on this thread. As someone who faced a very difficult decision, that is very difficult to see.

I’m so sorry . Same for me and it was years ago I thought I was ok but that ad has made me tearful all evening I hope it can be removed or so many others will be upset

We are so sorry that this happened.

The issue is, the advertisers who use the google ad slots can hide their keywords/urls from us which makes them really hard to locate.

We would kindly ask that if you see it again, you provide a screenshot and a direct link to the advert. We can use that link to block it instantly.
As it's an ad choices ad, it's unlikely we'd come across it ourselves.

We're really sorry for the inconvenience caused here and we will have it resolved ASAP.

It’s really awful.

imnotsickbutimnotwell · 10/02/2023 20:10

MNHQ can delete the screenshot that someone thought it was a great idea to post on this thread 🙄😡

They can also spend sometime scrolling the threads to find the ad, check the URL and block it. I came across it in 5 seconds when I clicked on another thread.

Absolutely awful that there is not better control over the ADs on this site!

7eleven · 10/02/2023 20:11

They could have warned they were about to post it. I would have come off the thread.

Mannymoomin · 10/02/2023 20:11

Well I hadn’t seen it, until I just opened this thread and it came up on an ad! How awful and really inappropriate, hope MN are able to somehow block it from appearing

Racetothebottom2022 · 10/02/2023 20:11

Sorry that was to giraffelasophie but did not quote

Westfacing · 10/02/2023 20:12

Good god - this needs to be sorted.

I usually only access MN on my laptop which has AdBlocker so no ads, but was just scrolling MN on my phone and this terrible photo came up. So distressing, and I can't imagine the parents of that poor unfortunate baby gave permission for the image to be used in an advert.

It's such a shocking image. Expectant mothers really need to avoid seeing this.

imnotsickbutimnotwell · 10/02/2023 20:12

@LilyMumsnet please can you put a trigger warning in the title, delete the screenshot that someone has put in this thread on page 1 I think and someone has provided you the URL in a post at 8pm so hopefully you can delete the ad immediately??

SnarkyBag · 10/02/2023 20:14

FUCKING OMG an even worse picture has just come up. Christs sakes MNHQ. I posted the link for you why is this still up. You’ve had since 6pm to get this sorted and should have found the link yourself long before I posted it

ladymacbeth · 10/02/2023 20:17

Sorry @GiraffeLaSophie I misunderstood!

I know really poor effort from MN. Making AD revenue from such disgusting content.

Should have been dealt with immediately and procedures in place to ensure this never happens. If you can’t guarantee the ADs on the site then choose another AD provider because it isn’t acceptable.

MichelleScarn · 10/02/2023 20:17

I don't really want to be on any thread on MN at all until can feel ad won't pop up again, but is it going to follow me to other site? Like lots above have mentioned quite tearful at this.

How could they have found the link?

Darthwazette · 10/02/2023 20:19

To be honest, just reading this thread seems to have located the ad for me. I’d not seen it before reading this so I’m surprised it’s not popped up for @LilyMumsnet, a couple of refreshes probably would have achieved it.

It’s awful and deeply upsetting.

Completely agree with this.

Why has some absolute idiot posted a screenshot on this thread? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? Unbelievable

Maybe because MNHQ asked for a screenshot so they knew what advert it was?
