This is what's being quoted by the papers. The very snappy punctuation makes me think that it is copied off the actual text messages. If so, it sounds really rude

It does sound snappy but I'm reading M being frustrated and considerate of the tailor. Seems Kate isn't doing the same from this one text but her before and after text will shed more light on the context of their messages. [If this is real, that is]

Well, the papers say this. Will have to wait for the book, but it sounds like a sort of script of text messages back and forth.
