Why won’t MNet take seriously other sites trolling here?

Welllookiehere · 01/01/2023 02:39

Tattle users are openly bragging about trolling this site, including confessing to being behind one long standing, very identifiable thread on here. When reported MN say they don’t look at other sites. Meanwhile photographs are taken from another thread on here daily for ridicule over there, whilst the people on the thread here keep posting unaware their images are being used to poke fun at.

Mumsnet has become sport for Tattle users to troll. Surely it’s in the interest of this to look at other sites and protect the users here? There will always be trolls as long as there is an internet, but when someone on another site is actively telling you they are behind things surely you have a duty to take that seriously?

It's a public forum, and we already know from some of what we see on here that some people are emboldened by anonymity to sneer, carp and generally be unpleasant.
Over and above the perv, troll and bullshit threads, I mean.
Some of the posts elsewhere about MN are opinion or fair comment - one of mine has been mentioned! But I think that constantly picking on one person, as they seem to be doing, is getting nasty.

Cwcwbird · 01/01/2023 11:41

I've been here yonks and there have always been disgruntled mumsnetters posting about mumsnet on other sites. That tattle thread doesn't look any different. People who mumsnet posting about how awful or stupid people who mumsnet are. Seemingly oblivious to the irony.

The trolling is so ubiquitous on here now anyway that I tend to think of most threads as a story to follow rather than a real life situation.

Anisina · 01/01/2023 13:21

There's quite a lot of trolling on Tattle too.

chillinean · 01/01/2023 19:03

I've read back further and can see that they have also made positive comments about some of the photos, even the 'pasta' woman. In isolation the comments in the last few days looked cruel but that's not the whole story.

I see no need to post there and ask about it, especially as they're spot on about so much else. I think anyone posting photos of themselves must be brave and know they're taking a risk posting on public forum.

CJsGoldfish · 01/01/2023 23:38

As this post has now been noted on there I expect an influx of Tattle posters to appear and try and justify comments like the above so I shall step back
Now that you've advertised the Tattler site and ensured an influx over there of bitchy MNers, you can definitely step back. Job done, hey 🙄

BadNomad · 02/01/2023 03:37

I actually think it's worse that you brought back potentially hurtful comments, from a completely unrelated site, to here, where the people who are the subjects of those comments are.

It's like going up to your colleague and saying, "Hey, people you don't know, in a building you don't work in, think you are a dirty tramp. Isn't that awful? Just thought you should know. Well, bye!"

Fifi00 · 02/01/2023 03:52

Nope tattle life points out that MN goes on about things nobody cares about in real life. The class obsession thing , competitive undereating now competitive coldness. I don't like bits of tattle I find they go more in on women than men which as a feminist I don't like but they do call out bullshit.

gamerchick · 01/01/2023 10:12

Isn't that a bit pathetic though? Like on SM posting stuff just for as many likes as possible and whatnot? It shows them up more than anything as being a bit crap at life if that's what it's reduced them to doing for sport.

You can't let yourself get het up.

Exactly what I was thinking, pretty pathetic really

Kedece2410 · 02/01/2023 04:16

That would then give the Posters to those threads the choice whether to share further or not and to possibly request their posts/images removal

You can't seriously think MN would remove posts at someone's request just because the thread had been picked up by another outlet. Threads highlighted on the DM etc bring traffic to MN. As a business that's what they want.

vera99 · 02/01/2023 04:23

This thread is now on Reddit which is how I knew it existed. It seems if you make a thread about trolls it acts as a troll magnet 🧲

Ohhhh it looks like writing the subname gets your stuff hidden.

MN has auto censor bots that hide sites from 'dodgy' urls....

Tattle is VILE, CLIQUEY and the mods are inconsistent. They are terrified of being exposed because they know how toxic the site is. Mods constantly degrade and demean users. Their "support" section is basically a place to humiliate new users...interestingly they don't allow users to change their username (because they love the infighting and doxxing of their own users in the threads, they love any kind of drama, I suspect one mod in particular is the owner of the site) They only introduced this "referral" after tattle was mentioned on here. The site has become a massive troll site with users constantly re-signing up after they get banned from criticizing mods...Yes - you get banned from tattle if you criticise a mod who has, in fact; broken their own rules (but rules don't apply to the mods). I'm looking at you oohthedrama 👀

Anyway I've found much more useful information on mumsnet that I ever did on tattle, so I signed up and I'm off for a look around, maybe see some of you soon!

FaceLikeASlappedArse1985 · 24/01/2023 23:16

You’re actually hilarious. People don’t go on tattle for advice they go to discuss the hideous behaviour of influencers which they do pretty well 🤦🏼‍♀️

also the owner is ‘Helen’ who you’d not seen act as a mod

gamerchick · 25/01/2023 06:30

Board wars Grin

aveltmp · 25/01/2023 09:03

Someone is bitter that they were banned, and you have to do a lot to get banned from the other site from what I can tell. I can't imagine why someone thats clearly so lovley and amicable could be shown the door😉
Your post is nonsensical. Tattle has been mentioned for years in the media and sites like here. Terrified of being exposed 😆. It's way less trolly than other sites as you see when people are new & people can't name change.

PennyToffee · 27/01/2023 22:50

I've just had a nose on Tattle.Apart from the annoying disable your adblocker thing the 'bleeping' thing that replaces swearing is enough to put me off.

What do you mean? You can swear on Tattle if you want.

Florissant · 28/01/2023 12:47

You get an ad blocker message only if you are not a member. And, yes, you can swear except not in thread titles.

Timelles · 08/02/2023 14:16

@FaceLikeASlappedArse1985 people don't go on tattle for advice? Since when? There's a whole section called "Advice" and @aveltmp Go take a look at the thread they have on tattle with the title "mumsnet".... I don't think that's "less trolly" to take the piss out of people posting their outfits on here. "Helen" ( or CM from loose women is allegedly the founder of tattle) IS terrified of being exposed, if they were so proud of what they have created why would they be so fiercely private about their identity? a quick google shows you exactly the founders of other forums are.

hothands · 08/02/2023 17:37

"Helen" ( or CM from loose women is allegedly the founder of tattle)

Is that true?! Where did you find that out?

Timelles · 09/02/2023 08:14

@hothands I heard it from someone who works in media, apparently it's an open secret but I don't move in those circles, I've read it elsewhere as well though. I'm sure it'll be confirmed or squashed in due course though.

Interesting...

Thank you, I always wondered who 'Helen' was. It was speculated that she was actually an influencer at one time.
