MNHQ, why was this thread deleted?

Why was the AIBU thread

'To think that this man should not be allowed to live in student halls'

deleted?

Deletion message states that personal information was divulged, but it wasn't: there was a link to legitimate news sites that reported the info. Public domain!

Why are you more interested in protecting a violent criminal than the youngsters he may gain access to? Why can't we discuss this?

The reason I came on this thread is that too many threads are being deleted because one person whines. Can we stop please. People don't have to read discussions if they don't like them.

Absolutely agree. Was very disappointed to see @mnhq delete a thread where people who have real experience of terminal illnesses were discussing how the current trend of every illness being discussed, celebrities (almost) celebrating being ill is really difficult for a lot of people.

But then someone comes along and moans that it wasn’t kind and MN remove it. It wasn’t aimed at one person or celebrity and so many people agreed it was difficult. But apparently it’s not in the spirit of MN to have a discussion about things that might be slightly uncomfortable.

Absolutely dreadful decision to remove the terminal illness thread, that’s really pissed me off, it was a very interesting discussion on how we are all affected by the way disease is treated in the media and the affect it has on people.
