Really slow to respond to troll reporting!

The M&S/Aiden/water/sea monster troll comes back every day. Most of us can spot them really easily. Today they've been back wanging on about bison and animal breeding.

It's so obvious it's the same person, yet their posts have stayed up for hours. If we can spot them, why does it take MNHQ so long to confirm that it's the troll and delete the threads? Do you not all talk to each other about reports that you're getting in, and/or your own suspicions?

It’s not about internet access, it’s about having time to kill.
Anyway, I’m off and won’t be returning.

That doesn't make sense either, who is so busy during school terms that they don't have any spare time for the internet? The only group that could maybe fit that might be teachers but no one thinks teachers spend their holidays trolling on here do they? That's just daft.

You are taking the phrase far too literally. They are just taking the piss by calling them children.

No it's not that, it's a common trope on here that trolls are more common in the school holidays. It's not meant as any kind of insult, it is literal but no one ever has an explanation that makes sense.

Reporting trolls using the report function is NOT troll hunting.

No. That’s why MN ask people to do that - rather than troll hunt.

but it’s not because of the equalities act.

BIWI · 22/10/2022 16:36

@TimeForMeToF1y it's a very boring, and also lazy, trope.

I think MNHQ have got some new moderators and I'm purely speculating here but I think that they're much younger and a lot more 'woke' in that, they seem to be focusing more on the politically incorrect than actual offensive posts & threads and outright trolls. Some have been very rude & abrupt in email exchanges, too.

It would also explain why they're not picking up as well on the clues left by the long term trolls who keep reappearing every now & then.

Just my opinion!

BIWI · 22/10/2022 16:51

I think you'll find that @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet may disagree quite strongly with that @MightyOaks Hmm

And stop the lazy use of 'woke' as an insult. Deleting stuff that's racist/ableist/homophobic/transphobic - which is presumably what you mean - is just as important as deleting troll posts.

Just to clear something up. I don't troll hunt. I report to mumsnet.

What I will be doing in future is where it is a troll that is promoting harassment against disabled people, by inciting hate or otherwise engendering an intolerant atmosphere by violating my dignity, or something that creates a hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment - I'll call it that in the report.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 22/10/2022 17:31

Samcro · 22/10/2022 10:56

i wish they would sort out the disability benefit troll

This. ^ I am sicking of seeing these offensive threads bashing the disabled.

deliverooyoutoo · 22/10/2022 17:42

Where have I trolled online activities? There's a statement further down the thread that I am trolling online activities and I'm not. I report to mumsnet every time.

What I will do is change what I say in my report when something is ableist.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/10/2022 17:45

I got told I was a troll on 1 thread, soon got deleted and I've been here many years.

Regularsizedrudy · 22/10/2022 19:44

Apologies @deliverooyoutoo i misunderstood your post

Me too.

I think reporting something for being ableist or otherwise discriminatory is absolutely fair. There’s a ‘hate speech’ option.

It’s not troll hunting to say on a thread that the things someone is posted are discriminatory and unacceptable. They don’t have to be a ‘troll’ to have said something that isn’t ok.

deliverooyoutoo · 22/10/2022 20:44

I never troll hunt. I report. There's no hate speech button on the app so I'm going to report and in my report explain it's against equality act and hate speech. I'll also try to challenge on thread but sometimes I don't have the resilience to do so

SudocremOnEverything · 22/10/2022 20:46

I can imagine you don’t. I don’t always either. Sometimes it’s just really awful stuff.

deliverooyoutoo · 22/10/2022 20:55

I don't understand what I posted that was so wrong though?
