Cookie consent - an update

Hi everyone.

Just a quick heads-up let you know that we’re updating our cookie consent tool today, which means you’ll be asked to re-consent when you click on the site. This should all be pretty straightforward but if you experience any issues, please let us know on this thread.

Getting it every time I click on a new page

Every single time I open a new page today. Also finding that links/reply boxes/anything that requires clicking on frequently don’t work the first time I load a page and I have to refresh it to get them to work.

I’ve done the suggestions, safari, iPhone and it’s requesting consenting consent every single time I post or go to a different thread.

Same, except I’m on Safari iPad. Been asked to consent 10 times in the last minute. Went into settings and followed the instructions up thread, but it’s made no difference.

I’ve done as suggested on iPhone chrome but made no difference I’m afraid

I take it back - I closed all my tabs and restarted chrome and now it does appear to have fixed it

I’m on an iPhone using Safari and have tried the settings twice and I still get the cookie consent every page. It’s infuriating!

For others still having this issue, apologies if you've already done this, but as well following the instructions for reselcting your preferences, have you also made sure you've updated your browser? That seems to be having a positive effect, too.

A combination of one or both of those things is fixing the issue for most people but we're still looking into this for those of you who have done both those things and are still getting the consent pop-ups regularly and will update as soon as there's any news. Thanks again for your patience.

I’ve tried all the above but am still getting the cookie consent for every page. I updated to iOS16 this morning and I think it only started since then (it had also happened previously but clearing the browsing data worked then)

I am getting the request for consent on every single new page that I click. It is making me want to leave mumsnet! Or at least for the foreseeable. Each and every new page gets the box consent. Each time I accept the cookies. It is REALLY bad, like a bug!

I’ve just done the latest Apple OS update on my phone and I’m now getting this continually despite following the instructions given above. Not impressed 🙄

And the same on my Mac. Won’t be bothering to come on here if this isn’t sorted soon, it’s pathetic from such a big business

Thanks lily. Yes, using my iPad and browser is completely up to date. The consent form pops up every time I open a new page (& indeed after I posted the message to you above!).

Fucking hell it’s every page I click on! Safari on iPhone.

Thanks so much for your patience. We found the issue that was causing you to see the consent pop up on every page and we’ve now deployed a fix.

Could you all try refreshing your page or opening Mumsnet in a new tab? This should sort it out for you. If you’re still having issues, can you please try clearing your Mumsnet cookies one more time following the instructions below for your browser:

iPhone & iPad - Chrome

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app
At the bottom right, tap More ⋮ > Settings
Tap Privacy > Clear Browsing Data.
Tick Cookies, Site Data. Untick the other items.
Tap Clear Browsing Data > Clear Browsing Data.
Tap Done.

Macbook - Safari

Open Safari
Go to the Safari dropdown at the top of the screen
Select Preferences
Head to the Privacy section
Select the Manage Website Data... button
Type Mumsnet into the search box
Click Mumsnet
Select the Remove button
Select Done

iPhone & iPad - Safari

Navigate to your settings
Click on Safari
Scroll to the bottom and choose Advanced
Click on Website Data
Type Mumsnet into the search box
Swipe left on ‘Mumsnet’ and choose ‘Delete’
