I've found it works if, when you click on a thread you've bookmarked, unbookmark that comment, and then bookmark the new one that you want.

Annoying though.

Hi all - so I've just had a call with the devs about this. This is proving a really tricky Gremlin to pin down. And would hugely appreciate anyone who can help us identify what's going on. Let me give you the info I have:

Bookmarks have been working completely as they should for me - I have my posts set to "Show all" and I'm constantly bookmarking Site Stuff threads to make sure I've read every post on here. Every time I do it, it works exactly as it should. Even when I bookmark and then come back and move the bookmark further down the page.

On the call we tried two things
1 - we thought the issue might be when you have it set to "25 posts per page" and the bookmark was on a page later than page 1 - so we tried that, but that worked totally fine for us
2 - we then thought the issue might be when you had already bookmarked a thread and moved the bookmark to a later page - but again we tried that and it worked fine

So if people could post here exactly what they were doing when the bookmark didn't work that would be hugely helpful. As much detail as possible would be brilliant. Ideally details on the the device/browser you're using, whether you were bookmarking the thread for the first time (versus updating an existing bookmark), what the URL was, what you have your posts per page set to etc.

Hugely hugely appreciative for any help you can give us here in solving this issue.

My bookmarks work on desktop but not on mobile. Either iPad or iPhone. Always and never respectively.

I'm on the app using my phone, and the bookmark works the first time but not subsequently. It just takes me to the first bookmark I did, not the updated one.

Thanks @WitchDancer I just tried that on my phone - iphone/safari and it worked perfectly for me. Can I ask which device/browser?

The bookmarks are still not working for me. Keeps going back to the previous bookmark in the thread if that makes sense. I'm using iPhone or iPad.

Still not working for me. I'm using the App on an iPhone with latest IOS 15.4.1.

I can get them to work on my iPhone in every scenario except one single thread where when I update the bookmark and then go back into the thread it always reverts back to my first bookmark. The post it seems to be “stuck on” has an @mention in it. Is that happening for anyone else?

I'm having the same issue as WitchDancer. I'm on a Samsung with the app. My app also won't post my message any more unless I'm quoting someone, and also tells me the threads I'm on have new messages each time I open the app when they don't...

Ive never been able to get bookmarks to work, I lose threads all over the place, it never takes me back to the place I left it so I miss posts or cant follow conversations

I find out of all the forums Ive seen over the years its perplexing that it doesnt just take you to where you left off when reading, no other forum needs you to 'do' anything in particular, it just remembers for you.

Every time for me. Although the bookmarks seem to have moved from where they were stuck for many days (at the point bookmarked prior to upgrade) and are now stuck two days ago.

Grrrr still doing it.
I'm on my iPhone on the app.

Please see the screenshots below. I went into the Semantle thread and the bookmark is from Sunday (not when I last bookmarked it!!) so I re-do the bookmark for the end of thread (pic 2) but as soon as I come out of that thread and go back in it, it's back to Bloody Sunday.

It's impossible to follow any long running threads and it's really bloody annoying now Angry(and where have the rest of the emojis gone to??!!!)

It's not working for me on a Chromebook. I've just unbookmarked the post it always takes me to on a long running thread and bookmarked the most recent post. When I go back in it takes me to an earlier bookmarked post instead of the latest. So I unbookmarked that and repeated and repeated until all previously bookmarked posts we unbookmarked. Only then did it recognise the latest post being bookmarked.

Just bookmarked a subsequent post on the same thread without unbookmarking the previous one and it appears to have worked ok. Off to check my phone which has been unuseable since the update.

Tried it on my phone (Nokia android) and it's the same. Bookmarks today don't work unless earlier bookmarks are removed. I'll check again tomorrow to see if it's still working.

Same here.

Also the issue where threads are highlighted as showing new posts but none have been made.

It's not every single time but it's happening more often than not, as in the bookmark is reverting to the original bookmark more times, but that's only been today.

Hi all - we're really really struggling to track this issue down. We've spent hours and hours trying to recreate the problem and it's working fine for us. So can I ask - would anyone who's having this problem regularly be willing to jump on a v quick video call with us so we can watch the problem in action and try and work out what's going on? Would take no more than 5 mins and would be hugely appreciated. If you're willing - please post here and then I'll PM you to set up. Thanks so much for any help!

It's fine for me at the moment, but might not be in an hour. When it happens I go straight to test my broadband speed and see how my own website is running (and my other quick comparator site is the advert-drenched Mail Online) and they have been running fine while MN bookmarking isn't.

Problem is it's intermittent. Just happened on mega Brexit thread. Press bookmark and not a lot happens. Had refreshed it as well so not going back to an open and left for a bit thread.

I have always used the app (on a 2 years old IPad). I’ve never had any issues bookmarking until this week. Now I receive a message like the image below. I now use MN through a browser - not really my preference.
