Where has Advanced Search gone?

This is a really useful feature - please don't tell me you've taken it away?!

I searched "Buffalo" to see if there were any threads discussing the horrible racist shooting in Buffalo New York. In the top results was a thread about vegetarian Buffalo wings from 2017. Not helpful.

I know I’ve already whinged about it, but really, was the new Search sponsored by Troll Central? Because trolls are the only ones who benefit from it.

I posted this on the other thread but got no response. When I try to search I get this weird half-disappeared thing that does nothing.

Can we just check what device and browser you're using when you see this? And double check - it's not clickable for you in any way?

MN Advanced Search was wonderful - being able to set criteria etc. This new search is so crap I have given up and now google what I am looking for with 'mumsnet' at the end of the search term - I always get more sense in the results than using the new search function on the site (but still totally rubbish results in comparison to the old Advanced Search function).
The main upside to the changes to the site is that I am spending much less time on MN these days.

@LilyMumsnet Safari on iPhone. It's only happening with certain user names.

I've used @EspeciallyDistracted as an example here (not because I was searching for their posts - so the person who I was searching for doesn't see )

It definitely won't move once it does this.

Also what's the point of the random list of usernames that comes up?

Plus it tells me to log in when I'm already logged in.

That random list of names is so weird, they're all posters from about 2007 that haven't been here for years!!

It was always rubbish IMO but it's even worse now.

if searching for a particular poster to see their posts, I put their name into magnifying glass- it founds all threads they commented, however I have to go through the whole thread to find their posts ( this could be 40 pages)
is there an easier way please?

I don't know what format or device you are using, but all functions of Advanced Search are working for me on my laptop. To narrow a search for a particular poster, I enter a date range or word or phrase I am looking for.

@SenecaFallsRedux I can click on the filters to choose either last day/ week/ month/ year and this takes me to various threads they posted on however if the thread has 40 pages, to find their post I have to go through the full 40 pages..
before their posts would come up in advanced search..

Why do you use pages? Waste of time
If you have the thread just do control and find for the posters name if your on a pc or use chrome on mobile and find on page (i think its called that)

I'm sorry I can't live more help. I am using a PC with Firefox browser. A text with Advanced Search displays and I just click on that. It has several options for filters including exact dates.

i tried on my android phone and it works!
it doesn’t work on the iPad though, there is no Advanced search button.

Once you are in search, then advanced search comes up.

@Lovesnowforever Just checking - you're definitely on the main site on your iPad, not the app?
