How does Mumsnet decide who is and isn’t a troll?

I set up a new account because I want to stop using this one (too many outing threads that DH may come across), started a new thread this morning, and within an hour my thread was deleted and I have been banned, with no communication. Surely you would see that the IP address is of a well used account, so why ban without communicating? What do you actually investigate? Do you just decide that if there is a new thread by a new user that quickly becomes popular, it must be a troll and they must be removed?

I bet the OP is wishing they’d never asked and hoping to be banned again after this thread. 😂

FlibbertyGiblets · 21/11/2021 23:03

Hee hee.

SnarkyBag · 21/11/2021 23:04

It would be amusing if OP returned to find this thread has been deleted

If it does get deleted I’ll accuse you of being a pretentious head girl on another thread and you can recycle it. Wink

Who made you Head Girl?

What is the problem?

The correct info was given. Three hours before MNHQ came onto the thread.

There’s nothing wrong with being helpful.

So just to clarify, it is wrong for posters to answer questions placed in the Site Stuff board?
Thank you.

TrashyPanda · 21/11/2021 23:24

If you don’t think it was a problem, fine. We’re all entitled to our own views

So what was your problem with the correct and helpful information?

NeedsCharging · 21/11/2021 23:25

So just to clarify, it is wrong for posters to answer questions placed in the Site Stuff board?

No.
It appears only one poster had an issue with this.
You gave the correct answer hours before MNHQ did.

I vote no it’s not wrong because posters can get their answer more quickly from posters that happen to know the guidelines. However if I was the OP I would probably have emailed MNHQ.

The 11 and a bit hours passing between @FlibbertyGiblets comments and @WomanStanleyWoman crushing put down must be some sort of world record in delayed snark...?

FlibbertyGiblets · 21/11/2021 23:29

Thank you, I had a minor clammy brow thinking that HQ were secretly irritated by posters' "helpfulness" on here. I bob in, like many do, with tips on how to use our beloved chonky non intuitive talk board.

SnarkyBag · 21/11/2021 23:30

If a poster only wants an answer directly from MNHQ then they should email directly. If you post on site stuff then you have to accept that there is a chance some fucker is gonna rock up with factually correct information.

Even longer - OP 17 Nov, 10am ish; the snarking started tonight, 21 Nov. Long burn. Ooh.
