Why is it suddenly ok to make multiple threads on the same subject over and over again?

I'm talking about the Feminism board. Please could MN explain why it's ok for the same poster to keep starting new threads on the same topic repeatedly without the previous ones filling up or reaching any limit?

Surely there's a point where this is considered "not in the spirit" as you love to say. By all means this person should be allowed to post but why are repeated threads within hours of each other being allowed to cause Groundhog Day over there?

I would also like to ask when the new posters cease to be new and can be given strikes and bans in relation to their deletions.

From watching it unfold over the past week, there seems to be a whole lot of generalisation that is happening that seems acceptable to the moderation team, yet would not be acceptable if it was in the other direction from regulars on FWR. I am happy to accept that this may be due to posters being new and this leeway given, but it has now allowed a style of posting to seem to become accepted whereas, before it was not.

@YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet

When has MNHQ allowed a retrospective name change before this one with ProseccoSt? This changes the tone and the underlying signal of intent for their past posts under their very deliberately chosen name. They were very clear why they chose that other name.

Is this another accommodation that has been recently implemented?

Hello @Helleofabore - we will retrospectively change a user name if it's offensive.

Helleofabore · 23/03/2021 13:17

Thank you @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet. Is it possible that when you do that to drop a note on the threads they have posted as an alert.

Just so other posters seeing the previous name mentioned don’t think the other poster is being a bully or misnaming them maliciously.

Could we actually address the issue raised about multiple non feminism related threads being started in FWR by bad faith posters? They don't belong there. If they aren't about feminism they should be moved to a more suitable board.
